  • For studying on the actual condition of the oral health control of the old there were invastigations on the Questions with the college of the old in Chonbuk as the central figure from June 1 to June 30, 1998 and the analyses about the frequency and the mutual relation through χ²-test. The results are as follow: 1. According to the result of the investigation into the actual condition about the oral health of the old, two times a day in the frequency of tooth brush per day was the highest at the rate of 50.35%, the use of dentifrice was 45.4%, and the exchanging time of tooth-brush after six months was the highest at the rate of 19.7%. And 96.1% didn't use dental floss and 73.6% didn't do scaling. It is thought that since 50% used tooth sticks and match sticks we have to inform the old of the necessity of dental plague and period oral examination. 2. In oral health situation, it showed that the number of people who were very week was the highest at the rate of 37% and there was the mutual relation between the use of tooth sticks and match sticks and present situation of oral health. And 54.93% visited the dental clinic wethin a year, and 22.3% among them made full denture. There was the mutual relation between the visit of dental clinic within a year and the consultation content and the number of people who teld that the consultation expense was very expensive was the higest at the rate of 27.8% and 87% didn't experience the oral education. So it is thought that we have to make an systematic education about the oral to the old and inform them of the necessity of oral health control. 3. We think it needs the establishment and plane of the systematic basis material and the oral education which is necessary in oral public industry for the dental preventive suitable to the characteristic of the old.

In relation to the frequency of oral health education, the biggest group that accounted for 58.2 percent received that education once. As for the route of education, the largest group that represented 52.7 percent received that education at dental hospitals or clinics. In relation to satisfaction with oral health education, the greatest group that accounted for 38.5 percent were dissatisfied with that education. 3. As for an intention of receiving oral health education in the future, the biggest group that accounted for 60.9 percent intended to receive that education if they would have free time, and the largest group that represented 47.7 percent believed that oral health education should be conducted by dental hygienists. 4. Their oral health knowledge had a significant positive correlation to their toothbrushing, regular dental clinic visit and dietary control that were the subfactors of oral health promotion behavior. 6. As for the impact of oral health promotion behavior on oral health knowledge, toothbrushing exerted the greatest influence on that(${\beta}$=0.306, p<0.001). • The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of an oral health care education program for care providers on the nutritional status of the elderly in a long-term care facility. This study was conducted at a long-term care facility located in K metropolitan city using a nonequivalent control group non-synchronized design. Fifty-four nursing home residents aged 65 years or older were assigned either to the intervention group (n=27) or the control group (n=24). The intervention group received oral health care from the care providers' intervention group, who provided oral health care for 6 weeks after 6 weeks of oral health care education. Data were collected from the control group and intervention group at the baseline 6 and 12 weeks after oral care education and were analyzed using SPSS windows 16.0. The halitosis was lower in the intervention group than the control group at 12 weeks (P<0.01). Body mass index of the intervention group at 12 weeks was higher than that at 6 weeks. Iron intake of the intervention group at 12 weeks was lower than that at baseline. At baseline, the intakes of riboflavin, folate, and potassium were lower than 75% of dietary reference intakes. In conclusion, an oral care education program for care providers was effective in improving the oral hygiene of nursing home residents, and dietary plans are needed to improve the nutritional status of them.

  • This systematic review evaluates current evidence regarding the feasibility of using needleless jet injection instead of a conventional local anesthetic needle. EBSCO, ProQuest, PubMed, and Scopus databases were used to identify relevant literature published in English from 2005 to 2020. Ten studies were selected. Five of them were randomized clinical trials, 3 case-control studies, and 2 equivalence trials. Using the Critical Appraisal Skills Program checklist, 6 studies scored between 67% and 100%, and 4 studies scored between 34% and 66%. According to Jadad's scale, 2 studies were considered strong, and 8 studies were considered moderate in quality. The results of the 10 studies showed differences in patient preference for needleless jet injection. Needleless injection technique has been found to be particularly useful in uncooperative patients with anxiety and needle phobia. Needleless jet injection is not technique sensitive. However, with needleless jet anesthesia, most treatments require additional anesthesia. Conventional needle anesthesia is less costly, has a longer duration of action, and has better pain control during dental extraction. Needleless jet anesthesia has been shown to be moderately accepted by patients with a fear of needles, has a faster onset of action, and is an efficient alternative to conventional infiltration anesthesia technique.

Positive illusions was composed of positive self-perception, exaggerated sense of personal control, and unrealistic optimism. We thought these factors affect to the oral health behaviors. For this study, 307 collegians in Ulsan, Yangsan are participated in this study. The data was subjected to confirmatory factor analysis and structural equation modeling with SPSS 18.0, AMOS 18.0. In conclusion, we obtained the next results. First, positive illusions has a statistically significant with oral health promotion in correlation analysis(p<0.05). Second, Structural equation modeling fit index was well fitted as $X^2$=100, df=112, P=0.893, RMR=0.021, GFI=0.969, AGFI=0.943. Only positive self-perception and exaggerated sense of control has a statistically significant(P<0.05). Third, the group of the highest positive illusions has a statistically significant in all factors(P<0.05), the other hand, the group of the lowest positive illusions has not statistically significant in all factors(P>0.05). So, as this results we concluded that the self-confident or activated persons were very well performed in oral health promotion behaviors.

  • This study was to promote the business of school dental health program in community area and to present the improvement of oral health between public health center's group of SungDong elementary school, one that started on March 1999, and the control group that is going to operate school oral health center from 2009 in primary school. It was based on the data of more than 10 years running school based oral health section. We compared the data of SungDong group with the one of control group to get a survey of dental caries experience. The preventive effect of the caries was estimated by the difference of DMFT indices between the sample group and control group. The experience rate of caries of the sample was 12.6 percentage lower than the control group and index of the experience rate of caries for the SungDong group was two times less. It showed that the sealing rate of the SungDong group composed of pit and fissure sealant was 67.7 percentage high. The prevention rate which was calculated by DMFT index was 46.34 percentage in the SungDong group that was the highest score for the fifth grade student as a 60.5 percentage. This program contributes to the improvement of the dental caries reduction in this school oral health promotion program.
