  • Every products, which made by mass production, is not identical in their size but have variations in some intervals specified by tolerance dimensions. Tolerances play major role in standardization of part and its quality, and also make a huge impact on manufacturing cost. The optimal condition for tolerances is giving the values as loose as possible for low production cost while satisfying quality specification, which usually demand tight control of tolerances. Tolerance analysis is necessary to get an optimal solution for this conflict situation. This paper have studied tolerance analysis for universal joint assembly of vehicle steering system and tried to find useful results of the study for product design and quality control.

  • The evolution of mobile communications is inducting several new issues belonging to the system engineering disciplines. this paper tires to underline some of the most important problems staring room the novel requirements and the application characteristics expected for Third Generation Mobile System. Based on these new service peculiarities. the radio resource control and the architectural solutions to be chosen for the Mobile core network are becoming key issues to be investigated for the forthcoming configurations. Particularly. the service acceptance control and the perspective of integration with the IP (internet Protocol) context are of great importance for the definition of the radio control functions and the specification of the switching and nobility control features respectively.The paper presents some basic considerations on the cellular planning issues arising in W-CDMA ( wideband -code division Multiple access) systems. by underlying the most significant innovative elements that are to be introduced in the planning process form the mobile operator viewpoint..

  • When we are trying to retrofit turbine control system from analog system to digital one, a new communication network is required to be contstructed. In this paper, we are going to introduce one example of economic communication network, which is reliable in operation from control room and field instruments to office and computer room. It will be installed in a power plant in the case of retrofiting control system of medium size steam turbine.

  • In this paper, the performance of DSSS OQPSK architecture for 868/915MHz LR-WPAN(Low-Rate Wire less Personal Area Network) is analyzed. Since the frequency offset of ${\pm}40ppm$ on 868/915MHz band is recommended in IEEE 802.15.4 LR-WPAN specification. it is required to have a non-coherent detection that is stable operation in the channel environment with large frequency offset is required.

  • The aim of this paper is to provide a guide to those methods of train detection which are available, or are likely to become available, to the designer of train control or other relevant systems. In broad terms, train detection may be defined as the process of generating information which describes the location and movement of trains. Train detection information is difficult to define in isolation. Consider, for example, the train detection information required in a modern train control system. This may vary considerably : in a future high performance train control system, it might be necessary to know the precise position, direction of movement, speed, and possibly even the acceleration or braking, of all trains in the control area : in a less demanding application, it might be sufficient to know only the location of trains in terms of the occupation of sections of track.

  • This paper presents a software design simulation method for controlling multiple mechanism carrier system (MMCS), which is mainly used in a wrapping machine or a case packing machine. This method uses a mechanical tool-work interactive model proposed in this paper, in order to represent the interactive behaviors between some tools and a work driven by their tools, in which low effect states of a work are defined. Based on this method, a 3-D simulation system has been built. It consists of shape modeling of each device, behavior definitions of tools, and control logic using if-then expression. By applying it to a ase packing machine having about 30 mechanical devices and 100 inputs/outputs for control, the effectiveness of this method has been shown in general verification of control logic specification in an early software design phase and the possibility of smooth communication tool between mechanical and software designers.

Comparison for the Economic Performance of Control Charts with the VSI and VSS Features (VSI와 VSS 관리도의 경제적 효율 비교)

  • Variable sampling interval(VSI) and variable sample size(VSS) control charts vary the sampling rate for the next sample depending on the current chart statistic. This paper develops EWMA charts with the VSI and VSS features, and investigates the effectiveness of these charts in context of an economic model. The economic properties of these charts are evaluated by using Markov chain methods. The model contains cost parameters which allow the specification of the costs associated with sampling, false alarms, and operating off target. This economic model can be used to quantify the cost saving that can be obtained by using control charts with the VSI and VSS features instead of with the fixed sampling rate(FSR) feature, and can also be used to gain insight into the way that control charts with the VSI and VSS features should be designed to achieve optimal economic performance. The economic performance of X charts with the VSI and VSS features is also considered.

  • In this paper, we propose a new type of power control system for the rod drive coil of the CEDM of the PWR NPP in order to supply more reliable DC power The electrical modelling of the controlled rod drive coil was done by referring related documentations. The design of the proposed system is based on this electric81 model satisfying the existing specification. A high power DC-DC converter scheme is adopted utilizing the SMPS technique in the design of the proposed system. In order to show the effectiveness of the proposed system, an experimental system with the capability of 3.2 K Watt was set up for a rod with four cores and some computer simulations and experimentations were carried out. The result shows a very similar tracking performance with that of the existing system to the driving command. As a result of this, the proposed method can be applied to the power control system for the rod drive coil of the CEDM of the PWR NPP.

  • The quality requirements for thickness accuracy in cold rolling continue to become more stringent, particularly in response to exacting design specification from automotive customers. One of the major impacts from the tighter tolerance level is more unusable product on the head end and tail end of tandem mill coils when the mill is in transition to or from steady state rolling condition. A strip thickness control system for a tandem cold steel rolling mills is composed with blocked non-interacting controller and controllers for strip thickness and tension control of each rolling stands. An intelligent mathematical model included an elastic deformation of strip has been developed and applied to the field in order to predict the rolling force. The simulated results showed that the effect of elastic recovery should be included the model, even if the effect of elastic compression was not important.
