Diffusion coefficient is a critical parameter for predicting radiological source term(migration rate and flux of radionuclide) through given near field conditions in spent fuel or high level waste repository. The effect of exchangeable cation-$Na^+$ and $Ca^{2+} - on the diffusion of $I^- \;and^3H$ (as HTO) in compacted bentonite was examined using a through-diffusion method. Bentonite material used here was compacted to a density of 1.3 Mg/m$^3$, and Na-bentonite was saturated with a solution of 100 mol NaCl/m$^3$ and Ca-bentonite with 50 $mol\;CaCl_2$/m$^3$. The results show that effective diffusion coefficients are generally higher by a factor of two to five in Ca-than Na-clay. This is attributed to the larger particle size of Ca-compared to Na-bentonite; hence, Ca-bentonite has a greater proportion of relatively large pores, which make a greater contribution to mass transport than small pores. Although the nature of the exchangeable cation affects mass diffusion in compacted bentonite, the effect is small and not likely to influence performance assessment modeling of compacted bentonite-based barriers.
Four kinds of neutral salts with different cations, LiCl, NaCl, KCl, and CsCl, were added to the dye bath to accurately understand the effect of cations on the reactive dyeing of silk with C. I. Reactive Black 5. The cations of salts added lowered the negative surface potential of the silk, improving equilibrium adsorption and the accessibility of the dyestuff to the fiber greatly and speeding up the dyeing rate in the order of $Li^+>Na^+>K^+>Cs^+$. The activation energy$(E_a)$ for the dyeing was in the order of$Li^+>Na^+>K^+>Cs^+$ but the activation free energy$(\Delta{G}^*)$, or the real energy barrier for the reaction, was in the order of $Li^+>Na^+>K^+>Cs^+$ because the degree of the contribution of E$^{a}$ to the activation entropy$(\Delta{S}^*)$ was $Li^+>Na^+>K^+>Cs^+$. It was found from this result that LiCl had the strongest lowering effect on the negative surface potential of silk. The decrease in $\Delta{S}^*$ should be attributed to the loosely bonded activated complex of dyestufffs, cations and fiber molecules at transition state. It was clarified from the Bronsted equation that salts had the ionic strength effect and the specific salt effect on the reactive dyeing.
A lithiated compound $Li_{0.1}Pr^{3+}Ba_2Cu_3O_y$ has been successfully prepared by electrochemical method, which is achieved with a two electrode cell of the type: Metal(Li)/($Li^+\;,\;ClO_4^-$) + propylene carbonate/$PrBa_2Cu_3O_y$. All Pr ions in the lithiated compound are stabilized with a trivalent state as the other rare earths (Ⅲ) substituted in the 90K superconductor lattice ($Y_{1-x}Ln_x^-Ba_2Cu_3O_{7-{\delta}}$). Powder X-ray diffraction analysis shows that both compounds, $PrBa_2Cu_3O_y$ and $Li_{0.1}PrBa_2Cu_3O_y$ are isostructural with the 90 K superconductor, ($YBa_2Cu_3O_{7-{\delta}}$), nevertheless both of them are non-metallic and also non-superconducting down to 10 K. Magnetic susceptibility ${\chi}$ vs. temperature data indicate that Curie contribution from the magnetic ions (Pr and Cu) is weakened on the one hand, but on the other hand temperature-independent part of susceptibility ${\chi}_o$ increases depending upon the rate of lithium intercalation in $PrBa_2Cu_3O_y$ lattice.
Optical system has some optical and mechanical constraints. The constraints should be preserved in optimization of optical system. For the purpose, the constraints are combined with the merit function by using Lagrange's undetermined multipliers. We propose an active optimization control by using the fact that the errors of constraints are corrected with higher priority than the other errors of the merit function. In this control, the errors which have large contribution to the merit function are converted into constraints. At that time, if the errors are corrected at once, the optimization will be unstable because of their non-linearity. Hence we introduce a target rate which represents a fraction of error to be corrected, and the errors are corrected progressively. An optimization program was developed on the bases of the proposed active control, and applied to design a photographic lens system. By using the active control, we could get better results compared with conventional damped least squares method. ethod.

Foreign capital inflows play an essential role in each country's socio-economic growth, particularly for undeveloped and developing countries where capital accumulation is limited in the early stages of development, and Vietnam is no exception. The purpose of this article is to examine the impact of foreign capital inflows on economic growth in Vietnam. The empirical method employed secondary time-series data set during the period 1995-2018 to determine the impact of FDI, foreign aid, foreign loans, and exports on economic growth in Vietnam by using a linear approach. For this study, data was collected from the World Bank and relevant agencies in Vietnam. The results show that FDI (net inflows), foreign aid, foreign loans, exports, and GDP (current), have a positive effect at a 1% significance level on economic growth. Rather, an increase in FDI (net inflows), foreign aid, foreign loans, exports has beneficial effects on the Vietnamese economy in the study period. Based on the findings of this study, the article proposes several important policy implications for Vietnam in maintaining a high rate of economic growth via the contribution of FDI inflows, foreign aid, foreign loans, and exports.

Apparent changes in the natural hydrologic cycle causing more frequent floods in urban areas and surface water quality impairment have led stormwater management solutions towards the use of green and sustainable practices that aims to replicate pre-urbanization hydrology. Among the widely documented applications are infiltration techniques that temporarily store rainfall runoff while promoting evapotranspiration, groundwater recharge through infiltration, and diffuse pollutant reduction. In this study, a laboratory-scale infiltration device was built to be able to observe and determine the factors affecting flow variations and corresponding solids removal through a series of experiments employing semi-synthetic stormwater runoff. Results reveal that runoff and solids reduction is greatly influenced by the infiltration capability of the underlying soil which is also affected by rainfall intensity and the available depth for water storage. For gravel-filled structures, a depth of at least 1 m and subsoil infiltration rates of not more than 200 mm/h are suggested for optimum volume reduction and pollutant removal. Moreover, it was found that the length of the structure is more critical than the depth for applications in low infiltration soils. These findings provide a contribution to existing guidelines and current understanding in design and applicability of infiltration systems.
The use of big data may facilitate the recognition and interpretation of causal relationships between disease occurrence and climatic variables. Considering the immense contribution of rhinoviruses in causing respiratory infections, in this study, we examined the effects of various climatic variables on the seasonal epidemiology of rhinovirus infections in the temperate climate of Cheonan, Korea. Trends in rhinovirus detection were analyzed based on 9,010 tests performed between January 1, 2012, and December 31, 2018, at Dankook University Hospital, Cheonan, Korea. Seasonal patterns of rhinovirus detection frequency were compared with the local climatic variables for the same period. Rhinovirus infection was the highest in children under 10 years of age, and climatic variables influenced the infection rate. Temperature, wind chill temperature, humidity, and particulate matter significantly affected rhinovirus detection. Temperature and wind chill temperature were higher on days on which rhinovirus infection was detected than on which it was not. Conversely, particulate matter was lower on days on which rhinovirus was detected. Atmospheric pressure and particulate matter showed a negative relationship with rhinovirus detection, whereas temperature, wind chill temperature, and humidity showed a positive relationship. Rhinovirus infection was significantly related to climatic factors such as temperature, wind chill temperature, atmospheric pressure, humidity, and particulate matter. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first study to find a relationship between daily temperatures/wind chill temperatures and rhinovirus infection over an extended period.

Small-sized IoT wireless sensing devices can be deployed with small aircraft such as drones, and the deployment of mobile IoT devices can be relocated to suit data collection with efficient relocation algorithms. However, the terrain may not be able to predict its shape. Mobile IoT devices suitable for these terrains are hopping devices that can move with jumps. So far, most hopping sensor relocation studies have made the unrealistic assumption that all hopping devices know the overall state of the entire network and each device's current state. Recent work has proposed the most realistic distributed network environment-based relocation algorithms that do not require sharing all information simultaneously. However, since the shortest path-based algorithm performs communication and movement requests with terminals, it is not suitable for an area where the distribution of obstacles is uneven. The proposed scheme applies a simple Monte Carlo method based on relay nodes selection random variables that reflect the obstacle distribution's characteristics to choose the best relay node as reinforcement learning, not specific relay nodes. Using the relay node selection random variable could significantly reduce the generation of additional messages that occur to select the shortest path. This paper's additional contribution is that the world's first distributed environment-based relocation protocol is proposed reflecting real-world physical devices' characteristics through the OMNeT++ simulator. We also reconstruct the three days-long disaster environment, and performance evaluation has been performed by applying the proposed protocol to the simulated real-world environment.
Thixotropy is a time-dependent shear-thinning phenomenon. We derived a new thixotropic formula which is based on the generalized viscosity formula of Ree and Eyring, $f={\Sigma}\frac{X_i}{{\alpha}_i}sinh^{-1}$ () (Refer to the text concerning the notation.) The following is postulated: (1) thixotropy occurs when small flow units attached to a large flow unit separate from the latter under stress (2) elastic energy(${\omega}$) is stored on the large flow unit during the flow process, and (3) the stored energy contributes to decrease the activation energy for flow. A new thixotropic formula was derived by using these postulations, $f={\frac}{X_0{\beta}_0}{\alpha_0}{\dot{s}}+{\frac}{X_1{\beta}_1}{{\alpha}_1}{\dot{s}}+{\frac}{X_2}{{\alpha_x}}sinh^{-1}$[$({\beta}_0)_2$ exp $(-C_2{\dot{s}}^2/RT){\cdot}{\dot{s}}$] f is the shear stress, and s is the rate of shear. In case of concentrated solutions where the Newtonian flow units have little contribution to the viscosity of the system, the above equation becomes, $f=\frac{X_2}{\alpha_2}sinh^{-1}$[$({\beta}_0)_2$ exp $(-C_2{\dot{s}}^2/RT){\cdot}{\dot{s}}$]. In order to confirm these formulas, we applied to TiO2(anatase and rutile)-water, printing ink and mayonnaise systems. Good agreements between the experiment and theory were observed.
