조선용 EH40 강판의 용접부 취성 균열전파정지에 관한 연구 (Study of Brittle Crack Propagation Welding for EH40 Steel Plate in Shipbuilding Steel)

  • Recent economic trends are worsening and becoming longer, and Korean shipbuilding is focused on high value added and high technology, especially for LNG carriers and large container ships. Both ship types increased in size in the 2010s but have requirements such as high strength, toughness at low temperatures and continuous weldability for preventing brittle fractures at service temperatures. In particular, as container ships become larger, the International Classification Society (IACS) has established a provision (IACS UR S33) that mandates the use of BCA (Brittle Crack Arrest) certified vessels for large container vessels contracted after 2014 to ensure safety. Therefore, studies on BCA 47Y.P are currently being undertaken, but BCA 40Y.P has not been actively studied yet. We will test BCA 40Y.P to verify why it can be applied to a large container ship and measure fatigue cracking.

선체 저항에 대한 수치 해석의 통계적 신뢰도 분석 (Statistical Reliability Analysis of Numerical Simulation for Prediction of Model-Ship Resistance)

  • A wide scope of numerical simulations was performed to predict model-ship resistances by using STAR-CCM+ and OpenFOAM. The numerical results were compared with experimental measurements in towing tank to analyze statistical reliability of the present simulations. Based on the normal distribution of resistance errors in 113 cases of container carriers, tankers and very large crude-oil carriers, the confidence intervals of numerical error were estimated as [-2.64%,+2.32%] and [-1.82%, +1.87%] with 95% confidence in STAR-CCM+ and OpenFOAM, respectively. The resistance errors of liquefied natural gas carriers with single- and twin-skeg were confident in the ranges of [-2.51%,+2.64%] and [-2.29%, +1.46%], respectively. The grid uncertainty of resistance coefficients for KCS was also quantitatively analyzed by using a grid verification procedure. The grid uncertainty of OpenFOAM (5.1%) was larger than 4.4% uncertainty of STAR-CCM+ although OpenFOAM provided statistically more confident results than those of STAR-CCM+. It means that a grid system verified under a specific condition does not automatically lead to statistical reliability in general cases.

항만배후단지 셔틀 운송사 선정요인의 중요도에 관한 연구 (A Study on Selecting Factors of Container Shuttle Carrier by Logistics Companies in the Port Hinterland)

  • 본 연구는 안전운임제 도입으로 가격 경쟁이 사라진 컨테이너운송에 있어서 항만배후단지에 있는 물류창고와 컨테이너 셔틀 운송사를 대상으로 셔틀 운송사 선정 시 어떠한 요인이 중요한지에 대해 조사하여 앞으로의 경영전략을 새롭게 수립할 수 있는 효과적인 방안을 제시하고자 하였다. 연구 결과 물류창고와 셔틀 운송사 모두 운송사의 역량 요인 그중에서도 협력업체와의 관계 및 직원교육 요인을 중요시 하고 있고 그다음으로 운송 품질 요인 중 운송의 정시성 요인을 중요하게 생각하고 있음을 알 수 있다. 따라서 양쪽 모두가 중요하게 생각하는 이 2가지 요인에 대해 지속해서 경쟁력을 높여 나가야 할 것이다. 그리고 운송사의 경우 고객 서비스 요인에서 돌발사태에 대한 해결 능력보다는 손실/파손 및 클레임처리 부분을 물류창고에서 더 중요하게 평가하고 있으므로 앞으로의 경쟁력을 가질 수 있도록 향후 전략은 손실/파손 및 클레임 처리 요인에 집중하는 전략을 수립하여야 할 것이다. 연구 결과를 통해 앞으로 물류창고와 셔틀 운송사는 차별화된 마케팅전략을 세워야 할 것이다. 이를 바탕으로 셔틀 운송사의 경우 항만배후단지 내에서 경쟁력을 확보하여 시장에서 확고한 지위를 유지할 수 있을 것이다.

  • Government tries to revise the article 25 in Korea Maritime Transport Act which describes subject of coastal carriage for exported-imported container cargoes. The subject of coastal carriage will be replaced coastal carrier by ocean liner carrier according to the revised article 25. By adopting the revised article, coastal shipping industry will be deteriorated in terms of returns on investment, sales and etc. Even though the revision is inevitable to harmonize the flow of exported-imported container cargo movement, coastal shipping industry should be developed and restructured to get competitive power and to set up an efficient international logistics system. To enhance competitive power of coastal shipping companies successfully, government must realize the importance of coastal shipping, and aid the industry through various methods such as arrangement of law and regulation, indirected financial assistance, decrease of tax rate, etc.

Experimental study on the effects of stern bulb arrangement on the slamming load

  • The present study concerns the stern slamming load of container carriers, with stern bulb arrangement variation. First, a series of wedge drop tests were conducted using simple wedge models with fixed deadrise angles, and tests with the cross-section models of practical container carrier sterns were followed. The deadrise angle of the simple wedge ranged from 0° to 10°. The pressure measurement results of the simple wedge drop tests were distributed between empirical formula and analytic solution, so the experimental setup was validated. In the cases of practical hull cross-sections, the water entry of the bulb prior to that of the transom resulted in characteristic water film generation and delayed pressure peak appearance. The trapped air between the bulbs damped the pressure in the twin skeg hull case, reducing the pressure peak and causing the pressure oscillation during water entry.

  • The purpose of this paper is to discuss the impact of the New Container Security Initiatives of U.S., CSI(Container Security Initiative) and C-TPAT(Customs-Trade Partnership against Terrorism). The CSI which aims to pre-screen high-risk containers in ports of loading. It is a unilateral effort that seeks to develop bi-lateral agreements between the United States and foreign countries with significant container trade volumes into the U.S. C-TPAT is a voluntary initiative to develop cooperative security relationships between the U.S. government and U.S. firms in the global supply chain. Government and Industry have already responded with proposals to create more confidence in supply chain security. These proposals call for heightened inspection and scrutiny of the goods flowing through a supply chain, increased information exchange among participants of supply chain. While government and the private sector are working together to launch new initiative to create more secure and reliable supply chains, industry is rapidly exploring the potential of new technologies such as RFID. The security recommendations will eventually become the requirements to be complied with by importers and their supplier extending to the carriers. It is needed that Korean shippers involved in US importer's supply chain should pay attention to the requirements and start implementing the security measures.

광양항 항로 개선에 관한 Simulation 연구 (A Simulation Study on the Improvement of the Waterway of Kwangyang Harbour)

  • Kwangyang harbour has been developed very rapidly and has 20 berths including 2 for 250,000DWT bulk carriers at the terminal of Kwangyang Steel Company only. In addition to this, the port is developing a container terminal with 10 berths for 50,000GRT container ships, the construction of which is scheduled to be finished in the year 2000. Because of these development, it has been pointed out that the existing waterways are not wide and safe enough for the new large ships to be catered for. This work, therefore, aimed to examine the naviga-tional safety of the waterways of Kwangyang Harbour, and to suggest how to improve the existing water-ways for the large ships to be introduced in the near future. In examining the safety of the existing and newly suggested waterways, waterway design simulation methodology has been applied. From this study, it has been suggested that the No.4 navigational channel has to be dredged to the depth of 22.5 meters and used as an entrance channel only, while the No.3 channel is used as an exit channel. Additionally, a new waterway has been recommended to be established over the Myodo Island for the container ships which will use the new terminal, the width of which has been recommended to be 400 meters with 440 meters from the bend area.

  • 냉동컨테이너 화물의 해상운송이 증가함에 따라 냉동컨테이너 화물의 손상과 관련된 분쟁 및 클레임이 화물 소유자인 화주와 화물운송의 주체인 운송인 간에 빈번하게 발생하고 있는 실정이다. 냉장 냉동화물은 그 특성상 다른 일반화물에 비해 화물손상에 대한 분쟁 및 클레임이 많은 편이며, 일단 화물손상이 발생하면 관련 당사자들에게 분쟁이나 클레임으로 인한 불필요한 시간낭비 및 물류비용 즉, 손상화물의 검사비용, 손상화물의 폐기비용, 클레임관련 소송비용 등 불필요한 경제적 비용을 증가시킨다. 따라서 본 연구의 목적은 냉동컨테이너 화물손상의 개선방안을 모색하여 해상으로 운송되고 있는 냉동컨테이너 화물의 손상을 사전에 예방해 화물손상으로 인한 불필요한 물류비용 및 시간낭비를 감소시킴과 동시에 냉동컨테이너 화물을 목적지까지 보다 안전하고 효율적으로 운송하여 원활한 물류흐름에 기여하는데 있다.

반잠수식(B1) 모바일 하버에 도입될 자동창고 시스템의 크기 결정을 위한 시뮬레이션 (A Size Simulation of Automatic Storage and Retrieval System for a B1 Type Mobile Harbor)

  • 반잠수식(B1) 모바일 하버의 임시 저장 공간을 효율적으로 활용하기 위하여 자동 창고 시스템 개념을 모바일 하버에 활용하는 개념을 소개하고, 이 때 발생할 수 있는 문제점들을 도출 하였다. 또한, 새로운 개념인 반잠수식(B1) 모바일 하버의 운영 시에 발생할 수 있는 여러 가지 상황을 고려하여, 반잠수식(B1) 모바일 하버에 적합한 운영 시나리오를 제안하였다. 대상 항만을 선택하여 컨테이너선 별 처리 물량을 조사함으로써 운영 시나리오에 따라 컨테이너의 환적, 수입, 수출 처리 물량을 각각 18.8%, 5%, 16.5%로 예상하였다. 모바일 하버에 도입될 자동 창고의 크기를 예측하기 위하여, 반잠수식(B1) 모바일 하버와 컨테이너선 그리고 피더선을 정적인 상황으로 가정하고, 입고량과 출고량을 선형적으로 고려하여 시뮬레이션을 수행하였다. 결과적으로 반잠수식(B1) 모바일 하버의 재고 예측량은 6800 TEU로 계산되었다.

대형 컨테이너 선박의 유탄성 실선 계측 데이터 분석 Part II - 피로 손상도 추정 (Full Scale Measurement Data Analysis of Large Container Carrier with Hydroelastic Response, Part II - Fatigue Damage Estimation)

  • Concerns are emerging in marine industry on the additional fatigue damages induced by hydroelasticity, and large container carriers, among others, are considered to be susceptible to this hydroelastic response due to its large size, deck openings and high speed. This study focuses on the fatigue damage estimation of 9,400TEU container carrier based on the full scale measurement data via long-base strain gage installed on the ship. Some correlation analyses have been also done to check whether there was significant torsional response during the voyage. Direct cycle counting method was used to derive stress histogram and the long-term fatigue damage was estimated based upon that analyzed data. It turned out that the fatigue damage of this particular ship during the measurement period increased by more than 60% due to the hydroelastic response of the hull, and main contribution is considered to come from vertical bending mode.
