Probable Evapotranspiration of Paddy Rice using Dry Day Index (수원지방의 확율과우일수를 이용한 기대증발산량의 산정)

  • This study is to determine seasonal consumptive use of water of a design year during growing period (June-September) for paddy rice in Suwon. To obtain Dry flay Index which is defined as the number of probable dry days occurring at a design year, Slade Partly Un- symmetrical Distribution Function was adopted. Dry Day Index was analysed with 5, 10 and 30 day-term. And each of them was evaluated with recurrence intervals of 1, 3, 5, 10 and 20 year using 49 years daily rainfall data('35-'83). Their singnificance were tested at 1% level by X$^2$ test. On the basis of these values, Probable Evapotranspiration (ET) which is the daily average ET for the sum of both ET on dry days and ET on rainy days were esti- mated using 5 years daily actual ET data(' 82-' 86). Their Crop Coefficients were also de- termined by the modified Penman equation(1977) proposed by Doorenbos & Pruitt.

  • To support some knowledge in planning irrigation system, short or long-term irrigation scheduling or determining irrigation reservoir capacity, it is necessary to estimate peak irrigation requirements and seasonal distribution of water demands for various return periods. In this paper Dry Day Index and Probable Evapotranspiration were evaluated to decide seasonal consumptive use of paddy rice for a design year using several decades' daily rainfall data and 5 years'('82~'86) actual evapotranspiration data, respectively. To obtain Dry Day Index that is defined as the number of probable dry days for a given period, Slade unsymmetrical distribution function was adopted. Dry Day Index was analysed for 5 and 10-day intervals. Each of them was evaluated with return periods of 1, 3, 5, 10 and 20 year. Their singnificance was tested by X$^2$ method. Based on these values, the Probable Evaportanspiration, that is the average daily ET both in dry days and rainy days during a given period, was estimated. Crop coefficient was also determined by the modified Penman equation proposed by Doorenbos & Pruitt.

  • The calculation of the comsumptive use by crop can be most accurate when it is actually measured. The mankind is not yet able tole grasp all the natural conditions or phenomena. The induces of actual measurement at a representive observatory and the formula abtained from the area werowere made as close as possible, which is called as the Blaney Criddle formcula, published in 1945. In calculating the water require-ment of consumptive use of water by farm crops, a more accurate and reasonable formula should be induced as the factors other than temperature and day-time hours according to the location of project area have also influences. The formula of Mr. Jerald E. Christianen published in 1969 is based on the induces of the records of actural measurements for 3, 928 months at 80 different stations and his formula couers a wider range of functions that calculate water requirement to induce the functions of moisture, wind, velocity, sunshine at elevatons, in addition to temperature and daytime hours in accordance with latitude and was modified to be fit to natural phenomena. The formula is being widely in use in many contries with their modification since it is worth while for usealso in korea, the formula is introduced and explained in the following.

  • In order to look about the effect and possibility of oriental medical diagnosis and treatment of pancytopenia of myelodysplastic syndrome. For a patient who has pancytopenia. we diagnose him as myelodysplastic syndrome by CBC, LFT, Ultrasonic wave, Vitamin B12 test, Bone marrow test, Folic acid test and doing Herb-medication, Moxa-Tx continually, we observed the change of WBC, RBC. HGB. MCV, Platelet. ESR with following up CBC test ten times Finally, WBC increased by 900, RBC increased by 400000, MCV was reduced by 7fl. HGB increased by 1.3g/dl. Hct increased by 3.2%, ESR was reduced from 127 to 35mm/h. We diagnosed myelodysplastic syndrome as 'CONSUMPTIVE DISEASE' in oreintal medicine. The treatment effect of pancytopenia was achieved by Herb-medication and Moxa-Tx for invigorating qi, enriching the blood, invigorating the spleen and the kidney-yang, Now we need the study of oriental medical treatment for Aplastic Anemia and AML which is similar this.

  • In 1998, Food and Agriculture Organization addressed that FAO Modified Penman method possibly overestimates consumptive use of water comparing to the measured reference crop evapotranspiration (PET) and Penman-Monteith method can be better choice for accurate PET estimation. Nevertheless it is still difficult to find research efforts about paddy rice crop coefficient for Penman-Monteith method. This study aims to estimate paddy rice crop coefficients for Penman-Monteith method. To estimate the crop coefficients, measured evapotranspiration data during 1982-1986 were used. The average Penman-Monteith crop coefficients for transplanted paddy rice were ranged in $0.78\;{\sim}\;1.58$.

  • The authors present a case of 68-year-old woman who underwent resection of a metastatic adenocarcinoma in the left parietooccipital area. The intraoperative course was uneventful; however, after closure of the scalp incision, increased bleeding from the suture line was noted. A computerized tomography scan that was performed immediately after operation revealed acute epidural hemorrhage with mass effect under the bone flap. The patient developed disseminated intravascular coagulation and immediate re-exploration was performed. This patient was successfully treated owing to early recognition of the condition and immediate treatment with transfusion. Neurosurgeons should be alert that hypercoagulabe state is common in cancer patients and consumptive coagulopathy can occur after resection of metastatic brain tumor.

  • We sometimes directed taking medicine by using decoction of Jujubae Fructus in taking herbs medicine. And I studied meaning on using decoction of Jujubae Fructus in taking herbs medicine. The obtained results were follows: 1. In taking medicine by using decoction of Jujubae Fructus, chief effect positions of that prescription were heart, spleen, stomach, and kidney. 2. In taking medicine by using decoction of Jujubae Fructus, chief treatment symptoms were heart throb, sleeplessness, reddish turbid urine, retention of phlegm and fluid, retention of fluid in the body, weakness. 3. In taking medicine by using decoction of Jujubae Fructus, chief pathogenic factors of that prescription were deficiency syndroms of the heart, retention of phlegm and fluid, retention of fluid in the body, consumptive disease, weakness.

This study aims to estimate paddy rice crop coefficients for Penman-Monteith and FAO modified Penman methods in the manner of comparing two equations. To estimate the crop coefficients, measured evapotranspiration data during 1982-1986 and 1995-1997 were used. The average Penman-Monteith crop coefficients ranged from 0.78 to 1.58 for translated paddy rice and from 0.87 to 1.74 for flood-direct seeded paddy rice. The average FAO Modified Penman crop coefficients ranged from 0.65 to 1.35 for translated paddy rice and from 0.70 to 1.58 for flood-direct seeded paddy rice.

Evaluation of the Effective Rainfal on Upland by Lysimeter (라이시미터를 이용한 밭에서의 유효우량 산정)

  • The evaluation of the effective rainfall is important in the desgin and operation of irrigation systems. But the difinition of the effective rainfall and the method for the estimating effective rainfall is various for each purpose . In this paper, the effective rainfall was defined as amount of rainfall which is remained in the effective soil depth that can be use to consumptive use of crop during growing season. The sol moisture was measured by Neutron prob for the effective rainfall estimation, and theexperiment was conducted for mulched and non-mulched condition of lysimeter during growing season. By the result of analysis and the former definition, the effective rainfall was estimated to be 37.2% for the mulched lysimeter and 40.7% for the non-mulched lysimeter.

A Study on Nochae(勞瘵) in Comparison with Tuberculosis (노채(勞瘵)에 대한 고찰 -결핵과의 비교를 중심으로-)

  • Objectives : The Korean Medical concept Nochae(勞瘵) has been identified as tuberculosis, which is defined as an infectious disease caused by Myobacterium Tuberculosis. However, this identification requires re-examination. Methods : The historical context of tuberculosis was examined, followed by examination of Nochae(勞瘵) as explained in the classical medical texts. The findings were compared. Results : Before tuberculosis was defined by Myobacterium Tuberculosis, there were various discussions on the disease, which overlapped greatly with Nochae(勞瘵). On the other hand, there were notable distinctions as well, which suggest key characteristics of Nochae(勞瘵). Conclusions : Tuberculosis pre-bacteria was understood as a consumptive and infectious disease manifested in symptoms in the Lungs. Nochae(勞瘵) was not defined by its lesion but rather within the contexts of deficiency-fatigue and being caused by parasites called Chung(蟲). Moreover, emotional fatigue was understood as the main cause of Nochae(勞瘵).
