Various automatic temperature control systems have been used widely in Korea for the conservation of heating energy and the enhancement of thermal comfort in residential buildings. But the heating control performance for automatic temperature control systems extensively vary with the design and operational conditions of the heating system, the climate condition and others. It was introduced in this study a numerical calculation program package to analyze heating control characteristics of the automatic temperature control system. This package is able to analyze the room air temperature, return water temperature, supplied heating flux and flow rate, and so on. One the other hand, the simulation results were verified by comparing with the field test results.

Mechanical and thermal properties of composite sandwich wall panels are affected by changes in their external environment. Humidity and temperature changes induce stress on wall panels and their core connectors. Under the action of ambient temperature, temperature on the outer layer of the wall panel changes greatly, while that on the inner layer only changes slightly. As a result, stress concentration exists at the intersection of the connector and the wall blade. In this paper, temperature field and stress field distribution of UHPC-RW-RC (Ultra-High Performance Concrete - Rock Wool - Reinforced Concrete) wall panel under high temperature-sprinkling and heating-freezing conditions were investigated by using the general finite element software ABAQUS. Additionally, design of the connection between the wall panel and the main structure is proposed. Findings may serve as a scientific reference for design of high performance composite sandwich wall panels.

This research team has developed single silk white bubble sheets to be used as surface sheath curing material for spring, summer, and autumn. But though its effects for spring and autumn temperature conditions have been proved, there haven't been any studies for summer temperature conditions. Therefore in this study, single silk white bubble sheets and single silk transparent bubble sheets as well as aluminum metalizing single silk bubble sheets have been applied to actual box-frame apartment slabs in construction, in order to compare temperature backgrounds of the concrete and other qualities. Upon application, the temperature of concrete cured in summer temperature conditions showed excellent scores, being the lowest for aluminum metalizing single silk white bubble sheets, then single silk transparent bubble sheets. But the aluminum metalizing single silk bubble sheet gave off a harmful glare, so for actual use, white single silk bubble sheets are recommended.

We have focused on the development of a fiber optic BOTDA (Brillouin Optical Time Domain Analysis) sensor system in order to measure temperature distributed on large structures. Also, we present a feasibility study of the fiber optic sensor to monitor the distributed temperature on a building construction. A fiber optic BOTDA sensor system, which has a capability of measuring the temperature distribution, attempted over several kilometers of long fiber paths. This simple fiber optic sensor system employs a laser diode and two electro-optic modulators. The optical fiber of the length of 1400 m was installed on the surfaces of the building. The change of the distributed temperature on the building construction was well measured by this fiber optic sensor. The temperature changed normally up to 4℃ through one day.
Various thermostatic valves have been used widely in Korea for conservation of heating energy and enhancement of thermal comfort in residential buildings. But heating control performances of thermostatic valves extensively vary with the design and operational conditions of the heating system, climate condition and others. An experimental method was carried out in this study to analyze heating control characteristics by temperature sensing methods of thermostatic valves for various parameters, such as supply temperatures and flow rate of hot water, the position of room thermostats and outdoor air temperatures. As a result, the heat flow rate per day of S-Valve($34^{\circ}C$-Type) of water temperature sensing method was liked that of C-Valve of indoor air temperature sensing method with stage 3.3 of room thermostat in case supply temperature of hot water was $45^{\circ}C$, flow rate was 1.3 L/min and outdoor air temperature was $7.8^{\circ}C$.
Frost heave can cause uneven ground uplift that may damage geo-infrastructure. To assist damage-prevention strategies, standard frost heave testing methods and frost susceptibility criteria have been established and used in various countries. ASTM International standard testing method is potentially the most useful standard, as abundant experimental data have been acquired through its use. ASTM International provides detailed recommendations, but the method is expensive and laborious because of the complex testing procedure requiring a freezing chamber. A simple frost heave testing method using a temperature-controllable cell has been proposed to overcome these difficulties, but it has not yet been established whether a temperature-controllable cell can adequately replace the ASTM International recommended apparatus. This paper reviews the applicability of the ASTM International testing method using the temperature-controllable cell. Freezing tests are compared using various soil mixtures with and without delivering blow to depress the freezing point (as recommended by ASTM International), and it is established that delivering blow does not affect heave rate, which is the key parameter in successful characterization of frost susceptibility. As the freezing temperature decreases, the duration of supercooling of pore water shortens or is eliminated; i.e., thermal shock with a sufficiently low freezing temperature can minimize or possibly eliminate supercooling.

Accurate estimation of concrete strength development at early ages is a critical factor to secure structural stability as well as to speed up the construction process. The temperature generated from the heat of hydration is considered as a key parameter in predicting the early age strength. Conventionally, concrete temperature has been measured by temperature sensors installed inside concrete. However, considering the measurement on building structures with multiple floors, this method requires reinstallation and repositioning of hardware such as sensors, data loggers and routers for data transfer. This makes the temperature monitoring work cumbersome and inefficient. Concrete temperature monitoring by using thermal remote sensing can be an effective alternative to supplement those shortcomings. In this study, image processing was carried out through K-means clustering technique, which is a unsupervised learning method, and the classification results were analyzed accordingly. In the future, research will be conducted on how to automatically recognize concrete among various objects by using deep learning techniques.

Generally, Adiabatic temperature rise and temperature rise rate are reported to increases when placement temperature, W/B and the unit water content is fixed. In this study, properties of adiabatic temperature rise on placement temperature consider the hot weather environments from of W/B 0.29, 0.34, 0.40 was reviewed, the amount of cement on mixing condition of the same W/B and unit water content evaluated on the impact of the adiabatic temperature rise. As a results, the adiabatic temperature rise of concrete is proportionate to binder as well as the cement content under the same unit water content.
Recently, Vertical-Closed Loop system using geothermal which is the most efficient among the building cooling and heating systems is coming into wide spread due to assistance of domestic policies. However, there is a limitation that a design of ground heat exchanger taking 60% of construction cost is done by GLD and GLHEPRO programs without specific guidelines and consideration on Entering Water Temperature(EWT). For getting an optimal EWT, we analyzed the costs for construction of ground heat exchanger and cooling and heating for 15 years. In the results, reduction of construction costs as the length of ground heat exchanger shortens was much greater than increase of the electrical power consumption as COP gets low. EWT that COP of heat pump can be 3.76 or above was below $31^{\circ}C$ in cooling and was over $5^{\circ}C$ in heating.

In this paper, the fire risk using a bimetal type thermometer for construction installation is presented. Because construction equipment is used widely in the field and the site is exposed to explosions and fire by combustible gas or fume, strong restrictions on the structure and usage are applied. Moreover, the risk of fire increases as precise temperature measurements are poorly conducted via an inner temperature sensor inside construction furnace. Therefore, this paper presents the results of structural analysis of a bimetal temperature sensor which is used widely in construction installation and temperature measurement experiments relative to the material property of the target object. The results revealed the relatively precise temperature of the liquid object, whereas those of the gas and solid object showed a lower temperature compared to the real temperature. This shows that bimetal-type temperature sensor is more suitable for measuring a liquid state object than measuring a gas or solid state object.
