  • Recently IT technology is applying to various technology developments, namely telecommunication, operation technology and even power technology. When it applies to power technology, we call it Power IT. Now Power IT turns a new technology trends. Considering this background, in order to apply the IT technology to electrical construction technology and related equipments, the present state of domestic electrical construction and related technology were investigated and examined. Material Management Using Radio-Frequency Identification (RFID) in the Construction Industry

  • The advent of Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology has created new opportunities for improving the material management function in the construction industry and is starting to provide major improvements in the efficiency of the material management process. The objective of the research reported herein was to introduce the benefits of RFID technology on material management in the construction industry. RFID technology is discussed and various aspects of this technology are investigated. Potential RFID applications on material management proposed by Construction Industry Institute (CII) Breakthrough Strategy Committee (BTSC) and Fully Integrated and Automated Technology (FIATECH) are spelled out Finally, business analysis of RFID to estimate its impact is provided. It is concluded that there is a significant potential for improvement of material management function in the construction industry through the use of RFID.

  • Although the concept of RTLS is very unfamiliar to construction industry, recently it is popular in other industry, such as logistics, ship building, mobile telecommunication based on state-of-the-art information technology. Effective resource management using cutting-edge information technology makes it possible to succeed a project with saving the time and cost. And effective information management in construction project can be achieved by the new technologies such as RFID, WEB-based internet, DB technology, real-time monitoring technology, etc. This paper suggest the characteristics and applicability of the international standard electric waves to be used for the real-time locating system (RTLS) on the viewpoint of transmission loss in construction field to monitor and manage resources of construction project effectively The two types of electric waves based on the international standard is to be suggested after surveying the as-is technology in the related industries and then is analyzed to find out the characteristics of those by the concept of the electric wave transition loss in the several construction situations. Two main electric waves, the 2.4GHz and the 433MHz technologies as the international standard is researched on the applicability to the indoor environment of construction site.

  • Recently indoor air pollution caused by exposing hazardous chemicals (VOCs, formaldehyde) due to undiscriminated use of new construction materials and air-tightness to save energy is becoming a big issue. We have developed technologies to estimate the amounts of contaminants from constructions materials and method. We have further developed construction technologies to reduce and characterize these contaminants. The developed technologies were then refined to eliminate defects through considering field applicability.

  • 본 연구는 건설정보포털시스템과 국토교통과학기술진흥원에서 보유중인 건설신기술정보를 API 방식으로 연동하여 건설정보포털시스템의 사용자들이 건설신기술정보를 공유하고 활용할 수 있도록 개발 하였으며, 향후 건설정보를 보유한 공공기관과 안정적인 정보연계를 위한 방안 연구가 요구된다.

Revisions on the payline for overbreak in Tunnel

  • Drill and blast method has been most widely used in tunnel excavation, after NATM (New Austrian Tunneling Method) was introduced in 1983. The NATM method utilized mass of shotcrete to secure the bearing capacity of tunnels. Overbreak defined how much larger the actual excavation was than the planned. When it became larger, more shotcrete was required to fill in it Here, payline fixed allowable overbreak, referring to payable amounts of shotcrete. Since owner was not responsible for shotcrete exceeding payline, it was important to properly establish the standards for payline. Although the standards were provided in 'Poom-sam'(standardized quantity per unit), they did not properly reflect the actual conditions for excavation. Thus, this study reviewed existing domestic and foreign standards for overbreak, and estimated overbreak for each type of support using survey data, and finally provided the improvements on the current standards.

  • 최근 국내 거주지역의 다변화와 고속도로와의 근접성을 고려한 선호되는 위치의 변화로 인해 방음벽에 대한 수요 및 설치에 대한 필요성이 그 어느 때보다 증대되고 있다. 하지만, 방음벽의 설치에도 불구하고, 도로로부터 발생되는 소음에 대한 민원은 지속되고 있는 실정이다. 또한, 이미 설치된 방음벽에서도 황변, 먼지침착, 충격파괴 등의 유지, 보수에 대한 어려움이 제기되고 있다. 이로 인해 위에서 제시된 문제점을 해결하기 위한 방법으로 새로운 소재를 이용 또는 새로운 개념의 방음벽에 대한 연구필요성이 제시되고 있다. 본 연구는 새로운 소재의 개발, 부가기능의 첨가, 또는 설계의 다변화를 통해 기존의 방음벽이 안고 있는 기술적, 경제적 문제점을 해결하기 위한 새로운 방음벽 개발의 첫 단계로 기존의 국내외 방음벽과 관련된 기 수행된 연구동향을 분석하고 이에 따라 향후 개발방향에 대해서 모색하였다.

Effects of new construction technology on performance of ultralong steel sheet pile cofferdams under tidal action

  • Cofferdams made of teel sheet piles are commonly utilized as support structures for excavation of sea-crossing bridge foundations. As cofferdams are often subject to tide variation, it is imperative to consider potential effects of tide on stability and serviceability of sheet piles, particularly, ultralong steel sheet piles (USSPs). In this study, a real USSP cofferdam constructed using new construction technology in Nanxi River was reported. The design of key parts of USSP cofferdam in the presence of tidal action was first introduced followed by the description of entire construction technology and associated monitoring results. Subsequently, a three-dimensional finite-element model corresponding to all construction steps was established to back-analyze measured deflection of USSPs. Finally, a series of parametric studies was carried out to investigate effects of tide level, soil parameters, support stiffness and construction sequence on lateral deflection of USSPs. Monitoring results indicate that the maximum deflection during construction occurred near the riverbed. In addition, measured stress of USSPs showed that stability of USSP cofferdam strengthened as construction stages proceeded. Moreover, the numerical back-analysis demonstrated that the USSP cofferdam fulfilled the safety requirements for construction under tidal action. The maximum deflection of USSPs subject to high tide was only 13.57 mm at a depth of -4 m. Sensitivity analyses results showed that the design of USSP cofferdam system must be further improved for construction in cohesionless soils. Furthermore, the 5th strut level before concreting played an indispensable role in controlling lateral deflection of USSPs. It was also observed that pumping out water before concreting base slab could greatly simplify and benefit construction program. On the other hand, the simplification in construction procedures could induce seepage inside the cofferdam, which additionally increased the deflection of USSPs by 10 mm on average.
