역해석 기법에 근거한 수직배수재로 개량된 연약점토지반의 침하예측 (Prediction of Settlement of Vertical Drainage-Reinforced Soft Clay Ground using Back-Analysis)

  • Observed field behaviors are frequently different from the behaviors predicted in the design state due to several uncertainties involved in soil properties, numerical modelling, and error of measuring system even though a sophisticated numerical analysis technique is applied to solve the consolidation behavior of drainage-installed soft deposits. In this study, genetic algorithms are applied to back-analyze the soil properties using the observed behavior of soft clay deposit composed of multi layers that shows complex consolidation characteristics. Utilizing the program, one might be able to appropriately predict the subsequent consolidation behavior from the measured data in an early stage of consolidation of multi layered soft deposits. Example analyses for drainage-installed multi-layered soft deposits are performed to examine the applicability of proposed back-analysis method.

  • In the companion paper, the nonlinear consolidation of soft clays subjected to cyclic loading was analytically investigated. This paper reports the results of an experimental program conducted to verify some critical assumptions made in the analytical study. It, also, includes a numerical study carried out to examine the capability of the proposed theory to determine the consolidation characteristics of soft clays subjected to cyclic loading. Results show that the permeability of the soft clays does not significantly change during the cyclic loading. It is also shown that, compared to the Terzaghi's solution for a linear clay, the inherit nonlinearity of the clay tends to decrease the degree of consolidation due to the smaller rate of dissipation in the excess pore water pressure.

  • In this paper, the measured results obtained from the ground improved by SCP method at quay-wall caisson foundation in Pusan New Port 1-1 phase are analyzed and then compared with the values predicted by a consolidation theory. The measured settlement is generally smaller than the predicted settlement. For consolidation velocity, the measured velocity is later than the predicted value. According to the execution of caisson placing phases, the predicted value shows higher settlement than the measured one with time being.

  • Assessement of comsolidation characteristics of soft soil is very important in the project of soft soil improvement. In the design step, the consolidation characteristics of soil is determined by the laboratory tests (typically oedometer test), generally. But there is big differences between the condition of laboratory test and the condition of field(in situ). the differences results in the considerable difference between the predicted and measured consolidation behavior. This article analyzed the consolidation data of the "SOFT SOIL IMPROVEMENT PROJECT of the 2nd Namdong Industrial Complex at Inchon". The project was improving the road way net work in the 2nd Namdong Industrial Complex by preloading and sand pile method. Field instrumentation was performed at 10 points which consist of pneumatic piezometers, magnetic probe extensometers, inclinometers and electronic dipmeter. The results showed that there is big difference in the laboratory predicted consolidation behavior and field consolidadion behavior. Also there was big difference in the settlement behavior and pore pressure behavior. This article investigated the above factors by comparing the settlement, pore pressure and strength at different conditions.onditions.

연약지반에서 최종침하량의 예측방법 (Prediction of Final Settlement on Soft Ground)

  • This study was performed of the research for accurate prediction of consolidation settlement at initial consolidation time. In order to analysis the program is developed which is able to analysis behavior of settlement caused by gradual load increment, and simulated consolidation using whole measured settlement data and that from beginning of embankment to end of it. The former result agrees with measured data and the latter it overestimated 13% larger than measured data. It was found the time which takes to be eliminated effect of gradual step load. This method is compared with the results from Asaoka, Hyperbolic and Tan's hyperbolic method respectively Asaoka and Tan's hyperbolic methods we in good agreement with this method. But classical hyperbolic method overestimated about 32%.

CRS시험에 의한 2차압밀계수의 결정방법 제안 (A New Proposed Technique for a Secondary Consolidation Coefficient Based on the Constant Rate of Strain Test)

  • 본 연구는 사전압밀재하공법에 의해 연약지반을 개량시 재하-제하-재재하와 같은 다양한 응력변화에 의한 2차압밀량을 추정하고자, 일정변형률 압밀시험기(CRS)를 응용한 일정재하시험장치(CLR)와 표준압밀시험기를 이용한 단계 재하시험(IL)에 의해 군산점토의 압밀특성을 비교 고찰하였다. 또한 CRS시험 후 임의 팽창시점에서 재재하시 유효과압밀비에 따른 2차압밀특성과 간극비-유효응력-시간관계 등을 파악하였다. 군산점토는 유효 과압밀비가 클수록 팽창량은 크고 2차압밀 침하량은 작게 발생하고 있으며, 일시에 하중 제거 후, 재하하는 경우에서 2차압밀계수 $C'_{\alpha}$ 는 완속제거시 보다 작게 평가되고, 유효 과압밀비가 1.4이상인 경우는 유사한 값을 제시하고 있다. 재재하시 발생되는 전체침하량을 기준으로 한 2차압밀계수 $C"_{\alpha}$는 경과시간에 따라 비선형적으로 증가하나 최종값은 급속제거시와 비교하여 유사한 값을 제시하고 있다. 간극비 변형속도는 재하시간이 증가할수록 유효 과압밀비에 관계없이 2개의 시험 모두 일정한 선형관계이고, 유효 과압밀비가 증가할수록 작게 나타나고 있다.고 있다.

  • In this study, the bottom-up powder metallurgy and the top-down severe plastic deformation (SPD) techniques for manufacturing bulk nanomaterials were combined in order to achieve both full density and grain refinement without grain growth of rapidly solidified Al-20 wt% Si alloy powders during consolidation processing. Continuous equal channel multi-angular processing (C-ECMAP) was proposed to improve low productivity of conventional ECAP, one of the most promising method in SPD. As a powder consolidation method, C-ECMAP was employed. A wide range of experimental studies were carried out for characterizing mechanical properties and microstructures of the ECMAP processed materials. It was found that effective properties of high strength and full density maintaining nanoscale microstructure are achieved. The proposed SPD processing of powder materials can be a good method to achieve fully density and nanostructured materials.

팽이기초공법(Top-Base Method)의 하중-침하량 분석 (Load-Settlement Characteristics of Concrete TOP-BASE Foundation on Soft Ground)

  • A new foundation type which is called Top-Base method has been used frequently in engineering practices in Korea. In this study, the settlement behavior of concrete Top-Base foundation on soft ground is investigated since the consolidation settlement of the embedding depth and the effect of footing dimensions are not included in current Korean criterion (2007). To obtain detailed information, the model tests of the Top-Base foundation are performed using the PLAXIS 3D finite element analysis. It is shown that in-situ measurements and finite element analysis of the behavior of foundations indicate that consolidation settlement is reduced up and bearing capacity of the foundation increases up to 50%~100%, compared to the primary non-treated ground. Based on this study, it is found that the Top-Base foundation prevents the lateral deformation of soft ground and reduces its negative dilatancy to the surface settlement, and that the foundation creates rather uniform stress distribution under it to increase its bearing capacity. It is also found that the total settlement of Top-Base foundation was highly dependent on the consolidation settlement and footing configurations.

  • Rod consolidation is a method of increasing spent nuclear fuel storage capacity by disassembling fuel assemblies thus storing the fuel rods in a tighter array. It involves some basic operations which closely resemble to the material handling of a manufacturing process. But all the operations must be controlled remotely in shielded environment from outside due to the highly radioactive nature of the workpiece. In this study the status of the rod consolidation technology in other countries has been surveyed and a feasibility study for the conceptual design of this process have been made.

  • There are many methods to accelerate for consolidation of the soft ground but, in this study, only preloading method was used to improve the soft ground. To measure the settlement of soft ground, surface-settlement plates were installed at several points. To examine settlement behavior of soft ground, back analysis was done using the measured results. In the back analysis, consolidation parameter( $c_{v}$) were obtained and it was compared with test result for undisturbed sample.e.
