802.11 practical improvements using low power technology

  • The reliability and performance of WiFi need optimization because of the rising number of WiFi users day by day. A highlighted point is saving power while transmitting and receiving packets using WiFi devices. Wake-on-Wlan (WoW) is also implemented to improve energy consumption, but it also needs betterment. This paper will introduce universal ideas to transmit and receive packets using low-power technology like Bluetooth or BLE (Bluetooth low energy). While looking for power-saving ways in this research, WiFi connection and maintenance also take care using lesser power-consuming technology. Identifying different use-cases where low power technology can help save energy and maintain 802.11 connection is part of the research. In addition, the proposed method discuss energy saving with unicast and broadcast/multicast data. Calculation of power-saving and comparison with standalone WiFi usage clearly shows the effectiveness of the proposed method.

인장력 측정용 턴버클의 극한강도 및 설계방법 (Ultimate Strength and Design Method of Turn-buckle for Measuring Tensile Force)

  • 인장구조물의 하중을 지지하는 인장재 사이에서 한쪽은 왼나사, 다른 쪽은 오른나사로 구성되어 장력을 조절하는 장치가 턴버클이다. 인장재의 종류 및 연결 형태에 따라 다양한 종류가 존재하지만, 보편적으로 사용되는 기존의 턴버클은 장력을 측정할 수 없는 단점을 지니고 있다. 이에 장력조절의 기능과 함께 장력측정도 가능한 측정용 턴버클을 개발하였다. 본 논문에서는 기 개발된 측정용 턴버클의 비선형해석을 통한 극한강도와 측정 신뢰성을 확인하고자 한다. 기 개발된 100kN, 200kN, 300kN급 측정한계하중을 가지는 턴버클의 극한강도를 살펴보면, 측정한계하중의 5배 이상의 극한강도를 나타내었다. 추가로 300kN 이상의 고장력을 측정하기 위한 턴버클 개발을 위하여 검토한 결과 턴버클의 경사부가 휨과 인장에 저항하기 때문에 크기가 거대해지는 경향이 나타났다. 이에 300kN급 턴버클을 병렬연결하여 설치를 하면 600kN까지 측정할 수 있을 것이라는 발상에서 병렬연결장치를 구상하여 실험을 실시하였고, 그 가능성을 실험결과로부터 확인할 수 있었다. 또한 실험적인 인장구조물을 설치하여 개발된 턴버클이 외기에 노출되었을 시에 초기 하중의 변화 및 부식의 정도를 살펴보았다.

ASIC for Ethernet based real_time communication in DCS

  • We have developed Ethernet based real-time communication systems called "Vnet/IP" for DCS which is the control system for process automation. This paper describes the features and the technologies of the ASIC which is utilized in the communication interface hardware for Vnet/IP. Vnet/IP has been developed for mission-critical communications. Hence it has real-time feature, high reliability and precise time synchronization capability. At the same time, it is able to deal with standard protocols without influence on mission-critical communications. The communication interface hardware has a host interface and dual redundant network interfaces. The host interface can be chosen PCI-bus or R-bus which is the proprietary internal bus developed for the high reliable redundant controller. Each network interface is a RJ45 connection with 1Gbps maximum in compliance with IEEE802.3.

  • Occasionally, equipment in a distribution system fails due to damage from weather, vandalism, or other causes. In addition, it is recommended practice to have some way in which maintenance or replacement of every element in a system can be performed without causing lengthy interruption of electrical service to the customers it feeds. Thus, alternate sources, paths, and configurations of service must be planned so that both failures and maintenance do not affect customer service beyond a reasonable amount. In some cases, planning for alternate routes of service during equipment outages or emergencies -- will be the major aspect influencing selection of a feeder's capacity, type of route, or layout. We want to know the relationship between molt-dividing multi-connection and distribution reliability for contingency support considerations.

Enhanced Dynamic Segment Protection in WDM Optical Networks under Reliability Constraints

  • In this letter, we study the protection problem in wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) optical networks, and propose a novel dynamic heuristic algorithm called differentiated reliable segment protection (DRSP). Differing from previous work, DRSP can effectively avoid the trap problem and is able to find a feasible solution for each connection request. Therefore, DRSP outperforms the previous work. Simulation results have shown to be promising.

  • Six Sigma has been disseminated into a variety of areas. It is believed that a stepwise understanding of Six Sigma's DMAIC is required for successes of unit projects. Meanwhile, infra-structure factors, such as leadership, organization, personnel management, educational system, etc., are also important to safely implant the Six Sigma into the whole enterprise and to thoroughly create the culture of innovation and enterprise. Careful analysis of those elements makes it possible to draw common connection between Project Management and the Six Sigma. This study drives the success elements for the successful adoption of the Six Sigma in the Korea Western Power Co., Ltd., of which management was evaluated as one of the tops based on the results of 2007 Management Innovation Assessment and arranges the similarity of like this factor and Enterprise Project Management. The results of this study are expected to provide a useful guideline for the adoption of the Six Sigma in whole company level.

  • Substantive provisions of the concept of an estimation and safety of complex technical systems are envisaged. New problems are assume orientation to use of the formalized methods of an estimation of residual resources of reliability of objects, and also development of other methodological base in creation of complex technical systems that is connected with detailed elaboration of attention to a safety at all stages of creation of systems: from designing until operation. In this connection existing large objects should be provided by the developed systems of engineering monitoring and diagnostics.

  • This paper deals with the topical problems of the Life Cycle Costs in connection with the rolling stocks. the LCC philosophy has already entered the third decade. this philosophy contributed towards the new relationship's comprehension between railway vehicle producers' and railway vehicle users' sphere. this leads together to the technical-economical solution convenient for the both sides. In the point of manufacturer, It is said that low operational costs could be reached using a well-designed and structured maintenance program. this is due to the proper technical analysis of critical components that leads to low costs of maintenance and a superior reliability without increasing the capital investment. but, This paper presents both topical experiences with the LCC models for the railways vehicles and also procedures during Life Cycle Costs calculations. In conclusion I want to introduce how to calculate LCC & what kinds of softwares are used based on VVVF EMU vehicle

DTMNs를 위한 신뢰성 있는 데이터 전송 지원 방법 (A Reliable Transport Supporting Method for a DTMNs)

  • While portable and wireless devices are pouring, a new network technology is needed as a breakthrough. The new network technology features large delays, intermittent connectivity, and absence of an end-to-end path from sources to destinations. A network which has one of those characteristics is called DTNs(Delay Tolerant Networks). The main 4 routing methods have been researched so far in extream environment. In this paper, we look into the reliability of DTMNs(Delay Tolerant Mobile Networks) in several different situations, and propose an algorithm that selects a positive routine by sending the only information of its position when making a connection to a detected node. We simulate the proposed algorithm here in DTN using ONE simulator. As a result, it shows that the algorithm reduces the number of message transmission each node.

  • Recently, the KEPCO is constructing the PQMS(Power Quality Monitoring System) each of the distribution line and will establish the voltage sag standard based on the long time measurement data of PQMS. The voltage sag prospect is difficult for the power system manager, however, the voltage sag forecasted is very important because the damage effect of the voltage sag is very broad. This paper describes the prospect formula of the voltage sag magnitude in the PCC(Point Common Coupling) by the starting current when the high capacity equipment is connected with the distribution line. To achieve this, this paper has proposed the sag prospect formula revision of KEPCO for the reliability improvement and the proposed formula has been applied the voltage sag real case to inspect the calculation procedure and reliability.
