Color Pattern Recognition and Tracking for Multi-Object Tracking in Artificial Intelligence Space (인공지능 공간상의 다중객체 구분을 위한 컬러 패턴 인식과 추적)

  • In this paper, the Artificial Intelligence Space(AI-Space) for human-robot interface is presented, which can enable human-computer interfacing, networked camera conferencing, industrial monitoring, service and training applications. We present a method for representing, tracking, and objects(human, robot, chair) following by fusing distributed multiple vision systems in AI-Space. The article presents the integration of color distributions into particle filtering. Particle filters provide a robust tracking framework under ambiguous conditions. We propose to track the moving objects(human, robot, chair) by generating hypotheses not in the image plane but on the top-view reconstruction of the scene.

  • We introduce our experiences of the design and implementation of the Page Together system that has expanded hyperlink metaphor to utilize human resources in the web. This system supports that a user connects with others in the web, communicates through video/audio channel, navigates same web pages simultaneously and cooperates some work on Internet. For these functions, it comprises Collaborative Browsing Module (CBM), Multimedia Conferencing Module(MCM) Data Conferencing Module(I)CM) and Multi Protocol Interface(MPI). We adopted three standard protocols, IEC, H.323 and T.120 for each nodule and it allows developers to use them easily. We also defined MPI to synchronize information of session among modules. Each module exchanges information each other in session creating process and session terminating process. After a session is created once, each module works independently as its won protocol. Interferences among modules are reduced as minimizing to exchange information. We also introduce a web site that provides web board service based on the Page Together system. A user may post a notice with a link to himself/herself on our web board. After then, if someone read that notice and has any question about it, he or she can try to connect to the writer as clicking the link in that notice and communicate each other. This service site shows that our system can be applied to diverse internet services such as distance teaming and distance conference.

  • In this paper, we propose technical and structural solutions for various problems in two-way digital communication services in CATV networks by actual field tests. The two-way digital communication services include VOD, video conferencing, distance learning, interactive game and internet service. We investigate the quality of T -1 level 0.544 Mbps) upstream digital signal while varying the number of subscribers in three different cells in accordance with ITU-T G.821. Based on this investigation, several ways to cope with the problems identified are suggested.

  • 다양한 망에서의 실시간 멀티미디어 회의를 위한 영상.음성 제어 프로토콜의 표준규?으로서 ITU-T에서 T.130 시리즈를 정의하고 있다. T.130은 영상.음성 제어 프로토콜에 관해서 전반적인 소개를 하고 있으며, T.132 Audio-Visual Control(AVC)는 영상.음성 제어를 위한 프로토콜을 정의하고 있고, T.131은 H.320, H323, H324와 같은 다른 타입의 멀티미디어 시스템과의 mapping에 관한 사항을 소개하고 있다. 그러나 구체적으로 영상.음성 제어를 위한 자료구조 및 이들의 운영방법, 알고리즘에 대해서는 프로토콜 구현시의 사항으로 남겨놓았다. T.130 시리즈는 T.120 시리즈의 GCC(Generic Conference Control)와 MCS(Multipoint Communication Service)를 이용함으로써 PSTN을 비롯하여 PSDN, CSDN, ISDN, LAN, 그리고 ATM등 모든 망을 지원한다. 본 논문에서는 AVC 프로토콜의 설계와 구현된 AVC를 소개한다.

Is a Robot better than Video for Initiating Remote Social Connections among Children? (원격로봇학습과 원격화상학습에 대한 아동 반응 비교)

  • Videoconferencing technology is increasingly used in classrooms to introduce children to people from other countries and cultures in order to provide a wider learning experience. However, with traditional screen-based video conferencing technology, research has shown that it is easy for students to miss non-verbal cues that play a key role in developing human relationships. To investigate how children interact differently when their interactions are mediated through screen-based video communication versus robot-mediated communication, we conducted a study with elementary students in Korea, comparing the use of both technologies to introduce classroom students with peer-aged individuals in America. Our findings show that the children displayed more positive emotions during certain tasks and exhibited more interest and intimacy to remote participants in the context of robot-mediated communication than with video-mediated communication.

  • Many real-time multimedia applications, such as video conferencing have stringent end-to-end delay constraints and consume large amount of network resources. In order to support these applications efficiently, multicast routing algorithms computing least cost multicast trees that satisfy a given end-to-end delay constraint are needed. However, finding such a tree is known to be computationally expensive. Therefore, we propose a heuristic distributed multicast routing algorithm that reduces a “finding multicast tree”that satisfies a given end-to-end delay constraint and minimizes the average resulting tree cost. Also, simulation results show that the proposed algorithm has much better average cost performance than other existing algorithms.

  • Because the application simultaneously to transmit large amounts of data (Video conferencing, Internet broadcasting, Online games etc.) to multiple users increases, the importance and utilization of group communication was greater. So the security was recognized as a important issue. To provide security in multicast environment, A study of single group management server using protocol based on Key Tree Scheme was proposed. But the paper proposes secure group key management scheme to be a relatively low-overhead. Therefore proposed paper is demonstrated to be excellent by comparing the effectiveness of existing and proposed group key management scheme.

  • The coding of video sequences has been the focus of research in recent years. High Definition TV(HDTV), video conferencing and video on demand(VOD) are some of the well known applications. In the moving picture compression, motion estimation algorithm plays a very important role, but due to its high computational complexity, there has been many approaches to overcome this difficulty. We propose a new block matching criterion that uses modified cost functions. This new block matching criterion classifies pixels into 2-levels, 4-levels and 8-levels with a suitable thresholding method. We also show that our new proposed algorithms can easily be combined with many other fast motion estimation algorithms with good performance.

  • It is important to consider not only audio/video but presentation way, in video conferencing, seminar, lecture based network communication. The method to transmit image of a chalkboard used in traditional seminar, conference, lecture are one of difficulties for remote environment since it requires techniques high-resolution transmission and talking films. In this paper we implemented real-time multimedia shared board system for shared effective multimedia presentation using connection-oriented socket of TCP. In this system, decreasing cost of related system construction, improve of data reliableness and interaction, presentation delay time be able to minimize.

  • With the development of networks, multimedia communication has expanded its application field. From the remote control for household electric appliances to medicine, games, video conferencing and multimedia chatting, multimedia communication is being used in all parts of our lives. This multimedia communication requires the transmission of a lot of data at high speed. But if the transmission rate of the communication network exceeds the processing speed of being used in the high speed network environment, a bottleneck occurs in each node and deteriorates the performance of the network. This is the main reason for the slow speed of data transmission and packet loss. In this paper, considering the client's processing performance, reception performance was predicted and the way of flow control was shown. The computing performance of relevant Processor and its performance was estimated through the actual implementation.
