This study was conducted to examine the possibility of developing a drawing course in online education and to assess the satisfaction and dissatisfaction of students. The drawing class consisted of a conceptual understanding of the drawing, learning actual techniques and performing drawing tasks. This course was rated on the content satisfaction scale and the course evaluation scale when it was developed in 2014 and partially modified in 2016. Both the content satisfaction and lecture evaluation showed similar scores to the average for all subjects in the school. Specifically, 'organization of content' received good reviews, while 'interaction' received a low rating in the content satisfaction scale. Additionally, 'enthusiasm' and 'response sincerity of teacher' received high ratings, but 'overall satisfaction' was low in the course evaluation scale. Finally, the self-assessment of students was also low. These results indicate that students want more practice and more active interactions.
Purpose: This study aimed at exploring treatment delay (TD) among cancer patients in China with an attempt to develop a practical methodology facilitating frontline Chinese clinicians in promoting earlier cancer diagnosis and treatment. Materials and Methods: The study comprised framework development, qualitative interviews and paired factor rating. Framework development utilized systematic literature review, soft systems thinking and consensus groups. Qualitative interviews employed a checklist of open questions soliciting information about all the domains included the framework from cancer patients drawn via stratified randomized sampling of inpatients at 10 hospitals in Hefei, China. Paired factor rating used a self-developed computer aid and the interviewed patients as referring cases to weigh the relative importance of the factors listed in the framework in terms of their contributions to specific components of total delay (TD). Results: a) A conceptual framework was proposed consisting of a 6-step path to TD and 36 category determinants. b) A total of 227 patients were interviewed; their TD was 267.3 mean or 108 median days ranging from 0 to 2475 days; average appraisal, illness, behavioral, preparation and treatment delay accounted for 52.1%, 9.4%, 0.30%, 8.8% and 29.4% of the TD respectively. Individual side factors were rated substantially more important than environmental side factors (60% vs. 40%); most influential TD factors included cancer symptoms, overall health, family relations and knowledge about cancer and health. Conclusions: The framework proposed together with the interviewing and rating approaches used provide a potential new methodology for understanding cancer patients' TD and promoting earlier cancer treatment.
The theoretical scope of the public sphere has been dramatically expanded as a result of new academic inquiries into the nature of the political and the public in contemporary societies. While appreciating the value of the concept of the public sphere for understanding democratic roles of the media, scholars began to raise questions on Habermasians' exclusive focus on news and public affairs programs, arguing that various entertainment programs also can invoke political deliberation. Terms like affective public sphere, emotional public sphere, aesthetic public sphere, expressive public sphere were used to capture this new conception. To comprehend the theoretical and practical implications of the conceptual expansion of the public sphere for media studies, this study attempted to provide a typology of media-public sphere relationships. By using public-private and rational-emotional axes as two criteria for classification, we created four prototypes of the public sphere (i.e., political public sphere, populism, difference pluralism, and intimacy/privacy) and discussed the characteristics of each type. After setting out media communication as a form of meta-public sphere that mediates and coordinates the four different types of the public sphere, we presented public service broadcasting as an exemplar meta-public sphere in the contemporary society of multiple social antagonisms and differences.
One of the prime objectives of school science is to help the children learn science concepts and conceptual schemes that will help them understand and interpret their environment. One of the basic scientific concepts is 'Change -everything existing in universe is changing always'. The purpose of this study was to investigate the characteristics of elementary and secondary students' conception of change. The subjects for this study were 489 students in Korea; 111 fourth graders, 95 sixth graders, 140 seventh graders and 143 ninth graders. Four items - mountain, river, ground, sea -were used for investigating students conception of change because representing the nature world in elementary and secondary level. The subjects were asked to check whether each item was changing and to explain each their check. Students' explanations were classified by whether they were sound understanding geologically, or not. The rate of responses that each item was changing was compared by grades and the rate of geological explanations was also compared by grades. Because students' conceptions of change might were effected by time scale, the additional questions that asked students whether the present status of four items were equivalent to the that of several points of time. As a result, the rate of scientific answers and patterns of explanations were similar by grade and the rate of geological understandings was relatively low. The frequencies of concept of change were more dropped as the point of time was closer to present.

This study examined the conception types of high school students, chemistry teachers, and pre-service teachers about the salt bridge in Daniel cell by a questionnaire and follow-up interviews. High school chemistry II textbooks were analyzed for finding the cause of the understanding difficulties of the teachers and students. Pre-service teachers' thoughts examined for the problems of pre-service teacher programs. From the analysis, it was found that teachers only thought that the role of salt bridge is for ion movement of two solutions involving electrodes. But they didn't have the conception that salt bridge has a roll of connection a circuit. This result was similar to students' and pre-service teachers' results. It was possible that insufficient and different explanations of the textbooks were attributed the teachers' and students' conceptual difficulties.
Family tourism has become the mainstream demand of the tourism market, and it is also an effective way to obtain happiness. This paper takes family tourists as the research object, takes the family tourism family affection interaction behavior and the experience value relationship as the link, Empirically tests the family tourism "interaction behavior-social support-experience value" conceptual model and the relationship hypothesis. The results showed that interaction of family affection had a positive and significant effect on the functional, cognitive and emotional experience value of family tourists. Family interaction in family tourism has a significant positive impact on social support. Social support has significant positive effects on functional, cognitive, emotional and overall experiential values. This conclusion expands the theoretical and empirical research on the relationship between interaction behavior and experience value, and provides a basis for understanding the interaction behavior and experience value of family love from the perspective of tourism experience essence.
The study aims to explore sequence of earth science content in elementary school science curriculum in Korea and the U.S.. The analysis is focused on a) general content structure of earth science part; b) concept relationship between grades in the specific field of 'geology'; c) longitudinal connection of concepts and content in 'geology.' The findings are as follows. First, earth science curriculum content in Korea is structured according to sub-scientific disciplines centering on not science concepts but topics or inquiry activities whereas the U.S. curricular content is organized through integrative earth science topics with basic concepts and sub-concepts. Second, it is a common feature that basic concepts are interrelated to sub-concepts in all grades in both countries. However, basic concepts are scattered all over the grades, presented in a linear pattern in Korea while those are provided together in 3rd grade and repeated with extended concepts in a spiral structure in the U.S.. Last, it is not clear how concepts and content are longitudinally connected between grades in Korean curriculum. On the contrary, concepts and content in the U.S. curriculum have a strong longitudinal connection between grades with conceptual hierarchy. Such results indicate that Korean elementary school science curriculum would limit students' comprehensive understanding of science concepts through grades. The study suggests Korean science content should strengthen interrelationship among concepts as well as longitudinal connection between grades, in order to achieve the ultimate goal of science education, 'scientific literacy'.
Teacher guidebooks are practical and commonly used resources for teachers to deliver the goals and contents of science curriculum in classroom teaching. Thus, the alignment of teacher guidebooks and science curriculum could be critical to undertake the effectiveness of curriculum implication in science classrooms. This study is to investigate how the learning objectives of science curriculum are implicated in teacher guidebooks by analyzing the dimensions of knowledge and cognitive process in learning objectives in both documents. Grade 3~4 learning objectives (82 objectives in the curriculum, 459 in the teacher guidebook, 541 in total) in 2009 Revised science curriculum and teacher guidebooks were coded and analyzed based on the Revised Bloom's Taxonomy. The analysis focused on how the knowledge dimensions and cognitive processes of the curriculum were emphasized and restructured in the teacher guidebooks to examine the coalition between the two important documents. The study found: 1) the learning objectives in Grade 3~4 in both documents were skewed to certain knowledge dimension (conceptual) and cognitive process (understand); 2) there was a high coalition between unit objectives and lesson objectives in the teacher guidebooks, however, relatively low coalition between the curriculum and the teacher guidebooks; and 3) learning objectives in the curriculum were delivered in teacher guidebooks in various patterns (similar, detailed, additional, in portion, and the same), and 'detailed' and 'additional' were frequently shown. There also appeared new objectives in the teacher guidebooks, which were not present in the curriculum. The findings in this study could provide some suggestions to the current project of developing 2015 Science Curriculum in regard to understanding the dimensions of knowledge and cognitive process of learning objectives and their alignments with textbooks and teacher guidebooks.

This paper attempts to develop a framework articulating a suite of indicators of cluster development, based upon existing work on the economic geography of clusters, cluster frameworks and indicators and cluster policies. Unlike other work the framework adopted here emphasizes adaptive and proactive roles played by agents, whether individual or collective, within the cluster when understanding it as a learning environment to capture an implication made from adopting the cluster perspective. Some possible indicators are operationalized and suggested even if they are not definitive and exhaustive. The conceptual framework and the specific indicators suggested can provide policy-makers and key stakeholders in clusters with a proper set of tools for measuring the level of cluster development, maneuvering a broader strategic planning exercise for successful cluster development.
This paper deals with how to design and develop white-box based e-learning contents which are equipped with conceptual understanding and step-by-step computational procedures for studying vector calculus for science-engineering majors who might need supplementary mathematics learning. Noting that rewriting rules are often used in school mathematics for students' problem solving, the theoretical aspects of rewriting rules are reviewed for developing supplementary e-learning contents for them. The software design of step-by-step problem solving requires careful arrangement of rewriting rules and pattern matching techniques for white-box procedures using a computer algebra system such as Mathematica. Several modules for step-by-step problem solving as well as producing dynamic display of e-learning contents was coded by Mathematica in order to find the length of a curve in vector calculus after implementing several rules for differentiation and integration. The developed contents are equipped with diagnostic modules and immediate feedback for supplementary learning in terms of a tutorial. At the end, this paper indicates the strengths and features of the developed contents for college students who need to increase math learning capabilities, and suggests future research directions.
