중등수학 탐구를 위한 예비수학교사의 수학프로그램(GrafEq.) 활용 사례 (The Case Study of Using GrafEq, by Pre-service Mathematics Teachers for Exploring Secondary School Mathematics)

  • This study is on the use of mathematics program for School Mathematics Education. According to the ‘technology principle’ by NCTM and teaching-learning methods by the 7th curriculum, we developed mathematics learning activities with mathematics program. This activity is to construct designs with graphs by using mathematics program(GrafEq.). In this study, we practiced these learning activities with pre-service mathematics teachers. The mathematics educational effects of these learning activities in this study are analyzed as follows; active & spontaneous search for mathematical knowledge, the experience of problem solving, affirmative view-point of mathematics, understanding of practical use of mathematics, acquisition an interest & motivation of learning mathematics etc. When students learn graphs of function, the concept of inequality in secondary school mathematics class., mathematics teachers can make a good use of constructing designs by mathematics program(GrafEq.). This will help to practice of teaching-learning methods by the 7th curriculum.

공교육 딜레마 해결을 위한 신교수법 설계 : 패러독스 경영 프로세스를 통한 분석 (A Design of a New Learning Method to Solve the Public Education's Dilemma : through Paradox Management Process)

  • This study is to solve the public education's dilemma between the standardized education to maximize learning efficiency and the personalized education to maximize learning effectiveness, using the paradox management process. The process is based on combining the TOC (Theory Of Constraints) and TRIZ (Russian Theory of Inventive Problem Solving), which is a creative way of thinking to draw the synergic effect by pursuing simultaneously the conflicting elements. Through this research, a new concept of learning method can be suggested on a public course. Further research should be performed to develop a learning guideline based on the students' empirical study results.

  • Heart Failure represents a critical pathological case that is challenging to predict and discover at an early age, with a notable increase in morbidity and mortality. Machine Learning and Neural Network techniques play a crucial role in predicting heart attacks, diseases and more. These techniques give valuable perspectives for clinicians who may then adjust their diagnosis for each individual patient. This paper evaluated neural network models for heart attacks predictions. Several online learning methods were investigated to automatically and accurately predict heart attacks. The UCI dataset was used in this work to train and evaluate First Order and Second Order Online Learning methods; namely Backpropagation, Delta bar Delta, Levenberg Marquardt and QuickProp learning methods. An optimizer technique was also used to minimize the random noise in the database. A regularization concept was employed to further improve the generalization of the model. Results show that a three layers' NN model with a Backpropagation algorithm and Nadam optimizer achieved a promising accuracy for the heart attach prediction tasks.

Integrating Values in Education: Managing Learning Crisis for Sustainable and Holistic Achievement

  • This paper attempts to explore the need and importance of values integration in educational activities to mitigate learning crisis and promote sustainable learning achievement. The traditional approach, commercial motive, focus on instrumental knowledge coupled with many other contemporary issues have collectively smothered the fundamental humanistic principles of education. To avert the situation and execute the core objectives, we need to shift our focus: a shift from instrumental knowledge to humanistic-transformational knowledge; a shift from the traditional approach of supplying and storing information to learning to deal with the real-world problems; a shift from head to heart. Values integration is an attempt to initiate and promote this shift. Rather than teaching values and moral principles under a particular subject heading, values need to be a part of everyday in-school and out-school activities. To concretize this concept, a model is proposed in this study as a holistic model of values integration via whole school ambiances and community support.

A Case Study on Students' Concept Images of the Uniform Convergence of Sequences of Continuous Functions

  • In this research, we investigated students' understanding of the definitions of sequence of continuous functions and its uniform convergence. We selected three female and three male students out of the senior class of a university and conducted questionnaire surveys 4 times. We examined students' concept images of sequence of continuous functions and its uniform convergence and also how they approach to the right concept definitions for those through several progressive questions. Furthermore, we presented some suggestions for effective teaching-learning for the sequences of continuous functions.

조석개념에 대한 학생들의 이해 특성 (Some Characters of Students' Understandings about Tide Concept)

  • The purpose of this study is to identify students' alternative frameworks about tide concept, to investigate some characters of them and students' understanding types with increasing grade in secondary school earth science course. The objective questionnaire method was used, and the subjects of this study are 528 students selected randomly in secondary school. The results are as follow. 1) Thirteen alternative frameworks about tide concept, related to the phase change of the moon and the motion of the earth are identified. 2) The alternative frameworks needed mechanical and causal reasoning have the trend reinforced or sophisticated with increasing the grade. And alternative frameworks needed phenomenal and mechanical, phenomenal and causal reasoning are changed little but ones needed phenomenal, variative and basic reasoning change scientifically. The rates of the alternative frameworks needed definitional, empirical, phenomenal reasoning decrease at the learning grade of that concept but increase after that grade. 3) Middle school students have the definitional, phenomenal, empirical and qualitative understanding types but high school students have the causal, analytic, quantitative and mechanical ones on tide concept.

효율적인 공간도형의 방정식 지도에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Teaching Method of Equation of Figure in Space Effectively)

  • Two groups of students, who are the students in the natural science course of high school in Korea, learned the equation of figure in space (point, line, plane) to understand more effectively with two different textbooks. One group was taught with the textbook used now in most high schools and the other group was taught with the textbooks systematized by associating old concept with new concept. The results are as follows : 1) We need understand the basic concept of vector plainly and flexibly to apply it to the solution of problems. 2) It helps students understand new concepts how we should establish the concept about point, line and plane in space by applying the concept about those on XY plane, 3) It is very effective in understanding the new knowledge system more easily to analyze the existent concepts and to arrange them systematically for efficient understanding of new concepts. 4) The texts which consist of contents organized by basic concepts improve students' learning ability.

국민공통기본교육과정 과학과의 생명영역 물질대사에 관련한 학습개념 분석 (Analysis of Learning Concepts Related to Metabolism Presented in the Life Filed of Science Textbooks According to the National Common Basic Curriculum)

  • 본 연구는 제 7차 교육과정의 국민공통기본교육과정에 따른 과학과 생물영역 물질대사와 관련한 개념의 수준과 연계성에 대해 조사하였다. 분석에 사용된 교과서는 초등학교는 1종 검인정 교과서를 사용하였으나, 중학교와 고등학교는 분석의 일관성을 유지하기 위하여 동일 출판사에서 개발한 3종의 교과서를 사용하였다. 물질대사와 관련한 개념은 초등학교에서는 42개, 중학교에서는 3개 출판사 평균 92개, 고등학교에서는 평균 59개가 제시된 것으로 조사되었다. 출판사에 따라 다소 차이는 있었으나 학교급이 올라감에 따라 점차적으로 구체적 개념에 대한 형식적 개녕의 비율이 감소하는 것으로 나타났으나, 학습개념의 수는 급격하게 증가하는 것으로 나타났다. 교육과정 및 교과서 개발 시 학습단원에 따른 학습개념의 제시는 학습자의 인지 수준 및 제시되는 개념의 수를 적정화해야 하며, 단원과 학습 내용의 수직적 연계성을 고려한 구성이 필요하다.

  • 최근 스마트교육을 활성화를 위한 스마트러닝 (Smart Learning: s-learning)이 확산됨에 따라 다양한 교육용 콘텐츠가 개발되고 있다. 본 연구의 목적은 스마트 애플리케이션의 기능을 분석하여 살펴보고, ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder) 아동의 특성을 고려하여 중재학습경험이론의 이론을 기초로 한 스마트 교육용 시스템을 설계 및 제작하는 것이다. 본 시스템은 ADHD 아동의 자아효능감 향상을 위해 MLE (Mediated Learning Experience: MLE)기반의 시스템을 설계하였고 ADHD 아동에게 적용한 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, ADHD 아동의 학습 흥미도를 높여 주의집중력 향상 및 학습 능력의 증진이 가능하다. 둘째, 성공적인 학습 경험을 토대로 자신감과 자긍심을 높여 자아효능감을 증진시킨다. 셋째, 메타인지의 발달에 따른 인지구조의 변화로 학업 성취도가 향상된다.

참여와 공유의 정신을 구현한 스마트시대의 이러닝 학습 모델 QBS (QBS, the Smart e-learning Model)

  • 본 논문은 스마트시대 이러닝 운영 현황의 한계점을 분석하고 인터넷 정신을 접목한 개선방안을 제시하여 그 효과를 실증적으로 분석하였다. 대학에서 활용되는 이러닝 클래스의 운영방식에 대하여 중점적으로 논한다. 오프라인 클래스의 운영모델을 온라인 환경에 원용함으로 인해 발생하는 부작용 등을 통계적으로 확인한다. 특히 시간이라는 정량적 개념이 온라인 학습에서 참여확인을 위해 활용되고 있는 이러닝 모델의 현실적, 기능적 한계를 구체적으로 분석하였다. 이에 대한 개선안으로 인터넷의 태생적 특징인 참여, 개방, 공유의 정신을 이러닝에 접목시킬 수 있는 방안으로 QBS시스템을 개발, 제안한다. 학습자가 주도적으로 문제를 만들어 학습 자료로써 공유하는 QBS를 실제 이러닝 현장에 적용하여 학습자의 행동양상을 분석한다. 결과적으로 이러닝 학습 환경에서 학습자 참여형 모델이 학업성취도에 유의미한 영향이 있음을 확인함으로써 스마트시대의 새로운 이러닝 모델의 개선방향을 제시한다.
