On the Implementation of the Digital Neuron Processor (디지탈 뉴런프로세서의 구현에 관한 연구)

  • This paper proposes a high speed digital neuron processor which uses the residue number system, making the high speed operation possible without carry propagation,. Consisting of the MAC(Multiplier and with Accumulator) operation unit, quotient operation unit and sigmoid function operation unit, the neuron processor is designed through 0.8$\mu$m CMOS fabrication. The result shows that the new implemented neuron processor can run at the speed of 19.2 nSec and the size can be reduced to 1/2 compared to the neuron processor implemented by the real number operation unit.

  • This paper concerns the implementation of a digital neural network which performs the high speed operation of Hopfield model's arithmetic operation. It is also designed to use a look-up table and produce floating point arithmetic of nonlinear function with high speed operation. The arithmetic processing of Hopfleld is able to describe the matrix-vector operation, which is adaptable to design the array processor because of its recursive and iterative operation .The proposed method is expected to be applied to the field of real neural networks because of the realization of the current VLSI techniques.

  • This paper proposes a design scheme for an LCL-filter used for the three-parallel operation of the power converters in high-capacity wind turbines. The designs of the power devices and grid connected filter are difficult due to the high level voltages and currents in huge-capacity wind turbines. To solve these problem, this paper presents three-parallel operation and LCL-filter design techniques optimized by parallel operation. Furthermore, the design of an inverter side inductance of the LCL-filter is discussed in detail considering the switching modulation method. Simulation and experimental results demonstrate the validity of the designed filter and wind turbines.

Secure and Energy-Efficient Join-Leave Operations in ZigBee Network

  • Since security plays an important role in several ZigBee applications, such as Smart Energy and medical sensor applications, ZigBee Specification includes various security mechanisms to protect ZigBee frames and infrastructure. Among them, the Join and Leave operations of ZigBee are investigated in this paper. The current Join-Leave operation is protected by the network key (a kind of group key). We claim it is not adequate to employ the network key for such purpose, and propose a new Join-Leave operation protected by the application link key (a kind of pairwise key), which is based on a more efficient key management scheme than that of ZigBee. Hence, the original Join operation consists of a total of 12 command frames, while the new Join operation consists of only 6 command frames. In particular, the security of the proposed Join-Leave operation is equivalent to or better than that of the original Join-Leave operation. The new Join-Leave operation is extensively analyzed in terms of security and efficiency, and compared with the original Join-Leave operation of ZigBee.

  • In this paper, we describe an outdoor augmented reality system using GPS tracking for position and attitude information. The system consist of a remote mobile operation unit and a ground operation unit. The remote mobile operation unit includes a real-time image acquiring device, a GPS tracking device, and a wireless data transceiver; the ground operation unit includes a wireless transceiver, a virtual image generating device, and an image superimposing device. The GPS tracking device for measurement of position and attitude of the remote mobile operation unit was designed by TANS Vector and RT-20 for DGPS. The wireless data transceiver was for data transmission between the remote mobile operation unit and the ground operation unit. After the remote mobile operation unit was installed on a vehicle and a helicopter, the system was evaluated to verify its validity in actual applications. It was found that the implemented system could be used for obtaining real-time remote information such as construction simulation, tour guide, broadcasting, disaster observation, or military purpose.

  • The objective of this study was to develop a computer measurement and control system which enable it possible to manage the natural air rough rice drying and storage properly and safely. The following contents of work were taken in this study in order to fulfill the above goal: 1) Design and construction of measurement system which can measure the rough rice drying conditions automatically and transfer them to computer system for data processing. 2) Development of a management software which can determine the need of fan operation by the analysis of drying and/or storage conditions. 3) Design and construction of a control system which deliver the computer decision of fan operation and make it on and off. 4) Technical and economical analysis of the computer measurement and control system development by the comparison experiments of the computer management and of the manual.

  • This paper describes a computer aided process planning system called "Deep-Drawing", "Deep-Drawing" is designed for the drawing sequence of cylindrical and rectangular cups with or without taper and flange. The computer program has written in BASIC language with personal computer. Design Rules for process planning are formulated from process limitation, plasticity theory and experimental results including the know-how of many manufacturing factories. "Deep-Drawing" Capabilities include the analysis of drawing sequence by the determination of optimal drawing ratio, the determination of intermediate shape, dimensions, punch and die radius etc., the calculation of drawing loads and blank holder force to perform each drawing step, and the graphic outputs for the operation sheet.tputs for the operation sheet.

  • Distributed Generators (DG) are rapidly increasing and most of them are interconnected with distribution network to supply power into the network. Therefore, DG may make significant impacts on distribution system operation. protection, and control with respect to the voltage regulation, voltage flicker, harmonics, fault current levels, the losses of the network, etc. These impacts would be demerits for both of DG and distribution networks. And the operation of DG may be influenced by the abnormal grid condition such as disturbances occurred in the neighboring distribution feeders as well as the feeder directly connected with DG. This paper describes the influence of fault occurred in the interconnected power network on the DG operation and the impact of DG on the network load during the interruptions of utility power.

Learning Context Awareness Model based on User Feedback for Smart Home Service

  • IRecently, researches on the recognition of indoor user situations through various sensors in a smart home environment are under way. In this paper, the case study was conducted to determine the operation of the robot vacuum cleaner by inferring the user 's indoor situation through the operation of home appliances, because the indoor situation greatly affects the operation of home appliances. In order to collect learning data for indoor situation awareness model learning, we received feedbacks from user when there was a mistake about the cleaning situation. In this paper, we propose a semi-supervised learning method using user feedback data. When we receive a user feedback, we search for the labels of unlabeled data that most fit the feedbacks collected through genetic algorithm, and use this data to learn the model. In order to verify the performance of the proposed algorithm, we performed a comparison experiments with other learning algorithms in the same environment and confirmed that the performance of the proposed algorithm is better than the other algorithms.

  • Data hiding is one of protective methods that can authenticate the completeness of digital information and protect intelligent property rights and copyright through secret communications. In this paper, we propose a data hiding method using pixel-value modular operation that has a high capacity while maintaining a good visual quality. The proposed method can embed secret data on the every pixel of a cover image by modular operation. The experiment results demonstrate that the proposed method has a high capacity and good visual quality where the embedding capacity is 91,138 bytes, the PSNR is 47.94dB, and the Q index is 0.968.
