We developed an education program for parents of adolescents titled Parents from Mars getting through to children from Venus. The program consists of five two-hour sessions each with a different theme; (1) parent-child communication, (2) study activities, (3) computer use, (4) children's daily expenses, and (5) children's daily-life plan. The program was test-run with seventeen participants, which included mothers of 4th grade(elementary school) to 9th grade (middle school) children. Based on data analysis, we found that average satisfaction level was 3.80 out of 5.00 and average goal accomplishment level was 3.91 out of 5.00. Most of the participants agreed that the program helped them to understand their children's problems, to look back on themselves as parents, to plan ahead, and eventually to improve their relationship with their children. However, it was also pointed out that the program needed to put more emphasis on practical lessons rather than theoretical lectures. For example, the need for more audiovisual materials, and more practical training during each session was highlighted by participants.

Cerebellar ataxia is a steadily progressive neurodegenerative disease associated with loss of motor control, leaving patients unable to walk, talk, or perform activities of daily living. Direct motor instruction in cerebella ataxia patients has limited effectiveness, presumably because an inappropriate closed-loop cerebellar response to the inevitable observed error confounds motor learning mechanisms. Recent studies have validated the age-old technique of employing motor imagery training (mental rehearsal of a movement) to boost motor performance in athletes, much as a champion downhill skier visualizes the course prior to embarking on a run. Could the use of EEG based BCI provide advanced biofeedback to improve motor imagery and provide a "backdoor" to improving motor performance in ataxia patients? In order to determine the feasibility of using EEG-based BCI control in this population, we compare the ability to modulate mu-band power (8-12 Hz) by performing a cued motor imagery task in an ataxia patient and healthy control.

In this paper, an embedded system for face authentication, which exploits high-dimensional local binary pattern (LBP) descriptor and joint Bayesian algorithm, is proposed. We also present a feasible embedded system for the proposed algorithm implemented with a Raspberry Pi 3 model B. Computer simulation for performance evaluation of the presented face authentication algorithm is carried out using a face database of 500 persons. The face data of a person consist of 2 images, one for training and the other for test. As performance measures, we exploit score distribution and face authentication time with respect to the dimensions of principal component analysis (PCA). As a result, it is confirmed that an embedded system having a good face authentication performance can be implemented with a relatively low cost under an optimized embedded environment.

Space-Time Block Code(STBC) provides full diversity gains with simple linear processing at the receiver. Interference Cancellation(IC) techniques in system using STBC improve the capacity and performance of wireless systems with co-channel users. Various IC techniques, Minimum Mean-Squared Error(MMSE) and Zero-Forcing(ZF) algorithms in system with STBC were proposed in the literatures in multiuser environment. The performance of these IC techniques were simulated by assuming perfect channel state information(CSI) of multiuser at the receiver. However, in practice it is difficult to know perfect CSI of multiuser at the receiver. Thus, channel estimation scheme is essential at the receiver. Also SNR estimation scheme is required to operate the MMSE IC algorithm. In this paper, we present estimation schemes of CSI and SNR using training sequences. Through extensive computer simulation, we compare and evaluate the performance of IC techniques using the proposed CSI and SNR estimation techniques.

The linear and decision-feedback equalization can mitigate time-varying intersymbol interference (ISI) caused by time-varying multipath propagation for underwater acoustic channels. The perfect elimination of interference components, however, is difficult using the linear equalization and the decision feedback equalizer has an error propagation problem. To overcome these shortcomings, this paper proposes an equalizer mode selection method using training sequences. The proposed method selects an equalization mode corresponding to the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR). If the SNR is low, the proposed system operates the linear equalizer for preventing the error propagation and if the SNR is high, the decision feedback equalizer for eliminating the residual ISI. Therefore, the proposed method can improve the error performance compared to the conventional equalizers. The computer simulation shows the proposed method improves the bit error performance using practical underwater channels responses acquired from the sea experiment.
As North Korea has a sufficient ability to attack our society's vulnerable computer network, various large-scale cyber attacks are expected to be tried. North Korea's cyber military strength is known a world-class level. The number of its cyber agents is increasing consistently. Recently North Korea's cyber attack has been made regardless of trick and target. But up to now North Korea's cyber attack is more of an exploration than a real attack. Its purpose was to check how fast Korea found a problem and recovered from it. In future, cyber attack that damages substantially is highly probable. In case of an attack against national infrastructure like traffic, financial and energy services, the extent of the damage will be great beyond imagination. In this paper, characteristics of recent North Korea's cyber attack is addressed in depth and countermeasures such as the enactment of cyber terror prevention law, simulation training enforcement, private and public cooperation system construction, cyber security infrastructure expansion, etc. are proposed.
The Q-learning algorithm based on reinforcement learning is useful for learning the goal for one behavior at a time, using a combination of discrete states and actions. In order to learn multiple actions, applying a behavior-based architecture and using an appropriate behavior adjustment method can make a robot perform fast and reliable actions. Q-learning is a popular reinforcement learning method, and is used much for robot learning for its characteristics which are simple, convergent and little affected by the training environment (off-policy). In this paper, Q-learning algorithm is applied to a lamp robot to learn multiple behaviors (human recognition, desk object recognition). As the learning rate of Q-learning may affect the performance of the robot at the learning stage of multiple behaviors, we present the optimal multiple behaviors learning model by changing learning rate.
As the cost of installing and maintaining software on large organizations such as recent companies and schools has increased, software installation and maintenance costs are low, system management is easy, demand for ease of use software solutions has increased. In the reality that special education for service center engineers is required along with the release of various products, training of the software and solution industry is regarded as important. Building Web-based user and system interactive environment, strengthened usability and educational ability effect suitable for engineer level. In the future, research that is familiar with specific software, not successfully combining multiple frameworks, rather than developers, will be increasingly important for research that can achieve optimal performance.
DNN error is small compared to the conventional speech recognition system, DNN is difficult to parallel training, often the amount of calculations, and requires a large amount of data obtained. In this paper, we generate a phoneme unit to estimate the GMM parameters with each phoneme model parameters from the GMM to solve the problem efficiently. And it suggests ways to improve performance through clustering for a specific vocabulary to effectively apply them. To this end, using three types of word speech database was to have a DB build vocabulary model, the noise processing to extract feature with Warner filters were used in the speech recognition experiments. Results using the proposed method showed a 97.9% recognition rate in speech recognition. In this paper, additional studies are needed to improve the problems of improved over fitting.

Necessity and importance of ethical education for information and communication have been increased, as the age of people who are using internet is lowering progressively. Even though various of text developments and the teacher training to ethical education for information and communication have been done, most teachers and parents of students have been not quite enough satisfied by the ethical education for information and communication in school, society and home. This paper also aims to develop and apply the system of ethical education to each student by presenting suitable ways according to the diagnose to not only students but also teachers and parents of students. After this system applies to students, students could have felt ethical awareness for information and communication and got the information to solve some problems themselves. Futhermore, teachers and parents of students could have felt students' level of awareness and obtained various teaching materials and ways, that is, it has become an opportunity for an efficient ethical education of information and communication.
