  • In this paper the Local Weighted Regression LWR technique is applied to the estimation of aircrcraft parameters. The method consists In improving the Local Weighted Regression LWR technique by adding a data Retention-and-Deletion RD strategy. The improvement comes with reduced computational effort since the two techniques can share their main computational procedures. The purpose of the study was to establish if the proposed algorithm could provide fast and reliable real-time estimations, with accuracy comparable to other well-known off-line identification schemes. The algorithm was tested using specific parameter estimation maneuvers and flight data of the NASA F/A-18 HARV. The results were compared with both the estimation obtained from ...

  • This paper represents a fast computational algorithm for the discrete sine transform defined by Kekre and Solanki. Techniques are developed to factor the discrete sine trans form matrix into M=log2 2N matrices, where the number(N) of sampled data points is a power of two. Each factorial matrix contains not more than two non-zero real elem tints in any row or column. As a result of this method, the exact a배orithm for the fast discrete sine transform is accomplished. The algorithm is illustiated by a signal flow graph, which may be readily translated to hardware or software implementation.

  • With the aid of finite element method, this paper deals with the problem of structural response variability of transmission tower subjected to the spatial variability of material properties, Young's modulus herein. The spatial variability of material property are modeled as two-dimensional stochastic field which has an isotropic auto-correlation function. Response variability has been computed based on two numerical techniques, such as the Neumann expansion method in conjunction with the Monte Carlo simulation method. The results by these numerical methods are compared with those by the deterministic approach.

  • This thesis presents applications of three dimensional visualization technique based on shear-warp volume rendering to medical information. Volume rendering is compared to surface rendering and acceleration technique is also presented. The presented rendering techniques by using three-dimensional arrays of data are a widely used representation for computational fluid dynamics and geological structures as well as medical information.

  • The geometric configuration in the weight-reduced structure is very required to be started from the conceptual design with low cost, high performance and quality. In this point, a structural-topological shape concerned with conceptual design of structure is important. The method used in this paper combines three optimization techniques, where the shape and physical dimensions of the structure and material distribution are hierachically optimized, with the maximum rigidity of structure and lightweight.

  • A method to verify seismic qualification of the plant protection system cabinet for a nuclear power plant is presented. A finite element model of the cabinet is developed and correlated to the dynamic properties observed during in-situ vibration test of the actual structure. The results of the modal analysis provide insight into the fundamental dynamic properties of the structure. Techniques for verifying structural integrity and operability are exemplified by summarizing response spectrum and time history analyses of the structure.

  • In this paper, several modal identification techniques without using the input information are investigated. Generally, the peak picking method is most widely used, however, other methods may give better estimates particularly for the cases with close modes and/ or highly damped system modes. Example analyses were carried out on three different structures, and the estimated modal parameters by various methods are compared.

  • For recent years, there has been significant research achievement on the feature-based multiresolution modeling technique along with widely application of three-dimensional feature-based CAD system in the areas of design, analysis, and manufacturing. The research has focused on several topics: topological frameworks for representing multiresolution solid model, criteria for the LOD, generation of valid models after rearrangement of features, and applications. This paper surveys the relevant research on these topics and suggests the future work for dissemination of this technology.
