Fluidity, setting time, hydration heat, bond water ratio, compressive strength, SEM and BET of OPC were measured by adding 1.0 wt% KCl and replacing 20 wt% mineral admixture in order to examine effects of blast furnace slag (BFS), limestone powder (LSP), and fly ash (FA) on fluidity and strength development of the cement contained much chloride. In general, the cement contained much chloride was high in heat of hydration, short in its setting time, low in its fluidity and low in its strength at 28 days due to the rapid hydration in its initial stage. As a result of the experiment, it has been demonstrated that fluidity became improved but the compressive strength at 28 days was decreased as replaced LSP to the cement contained much chloride. the fluidity and compressive strength at 28 days was improved as replaced BFS, the initial compressive strength development was improved due to the activation of initial reaction by KCl. Fluidity, initial compressive strength and late compressive strength at 28 days of cement contained much chloride replaced 5 wt% LSP and 15 wt% BFS concurrently was better than OPC, but the hydration heat was lower.

In this study, the base mixing ratio was determinated to estimate the optimal mixing ratio of material with a change of mixing ratio of micro cement, sand, foaming agent, plasticizer by testing the unconfined compressive strength test. The unconfined compressive strength test was performed to grasp a engineering characteristics of with a change of micro cement, bubble. The results of test, the unconfined compressive strength increased with a micro cement's increase and bubble's decrease. In the future, it will be secured that is reliable datas from laboratory of various condition and in-situ tests to develop optimal lightweight foamed concrete.

This study aims to evaluate a porous concrete using hwang-toh, blast furnace slag and blast furnace slag (BFS) cement instead of type I cement. The tests that were carried out to analysis the properties of porous hwang-toh BFS cement concrete included compressive strength, continuous void ratio, absorption rate, and pH value, repeated freezing and thawing test were conducted. Test results indicated that the performance in porous hwang-toh concrete are effective on the kaoline based binder materials. The pH value were shown in about 9.5 ~ 8.5. The compressive strength was increased and void ratio was decreased with increasing the kaoline based binder materials, respectively. The void ratio and compressive strength were in the range of about 21 ~ 30 %, 8 ~ 13 MPa, respectively. The increased in void ratio of more than 25 % is showed to reduce the resistance of repeated freezing and thawing. Also, the resistance of repeated freezing of thawing and the compressive strength of porous hwang-toh BFS cement concrete are independent with hwang-toh content and BFS cement amount. But, the void ratio was decreased with increasing the high volume hwang-toh contents (more than 15 %).
Soil cement which is a mixture of soil, cement, and water has a broad range of applications since it is economical, ecological, and easy to use, repair, and reinforce. Its applications include pavements, stabilization of slopes, retaining walls, and improvements of soft ground to name a few. Other types of chemicals are often added to increase its strength. This study investigated unconfined compressive strength of cured soil cement mixed with New Soil Chemical(NSC). The investigation involved laboratory experiments under various conditions including soil type, cement content, and ratios of water to NSC. Results of the study show that NSC enhanced the unconfined compressive strength significantly, and the degree of enhancement was varied with test conditions.

The physical properties of cement sludge treated with hydrofluosilicic acid were investigated. The compressive strength of cement mortar substituted cement sludge was decreased than that of OPC(ordinary portland cement) mortar. Cement sludge, for improving its physical properties, was treated with hydrofluosilicic acid. And compressive strength of cement mortar substituted TCS was greatly improved than that of OPC mortar. Particularly, cement mortar substituted TCS had the higher value in water-proofness than of OPC.

The effects of water-cement ratio, age, and admixture such as fly ash, silica fume on the bond strength between aggregate and mortar were investigated. As the result, with increasing of water-cement ratio, the bond strength was slightly decreased while the compressive strengths of mortar and concrete were seriously decreased. The rate of strength gain of bond strength was not decreased with increasing of water-cement ratio while that of compressive strength was gradually decreased.

To improve the problem of strength reduction of unary and binary blended non-cement concrete that occur at room temperature, comparative analysis was conducted based on the slump and compressive strength properties of ternary blended non-cement concrete in which cement was replaced with silica fume, fly ash, and blast furnace slag, and the following conclusions were drawn. The ternary blended non-cement concrete showed higher compressive strength than binary binder concrete, and the slump reduction was less when 10% silica fume was mixed. In addition, the appropriate composition ratio range of each by-product was suggested according to slump and compressive strength level based on ternary diagram.

In this study, the compressive strength and porosity characteristics of cement mortar mixed with liquid and powder composite water repellent were evaluated. When the liquid water repellent was mixed, the compressive strength at 28 days of age was 42% compared to OPC, and the compressive strength was greatly reduced. However, the 28-day compressive strength of the powder water repellent mixture and P5L1, P6L1 liquid and powder composite water repellent was about 97% compared to OPC, and there was little decrease in compressive strength.

In this study, the relationship between compressive strength and water-cement ratio according to water reducing ratio was evaluated, concrete mix was prepared according to 3 level of water reducing ratio (0%, 8% and 16%) and 3 level of water-cement ratio (40%, 45% and 50%). In addition, concrete mix was carried out repetition test of three times in order to secure the reliability. As a result, compressive strength according to water reducing ratio was shown that difference of strength was about 20% occurred, effect of compressive strength according to water reducing ratio was found more than the water-cement ratio. Therefore, reflected the effect of water reducing ratio, relationship equation between new compressive strength and water-cement ratio was proposed.

The application of microorganisms in the field of construction material is rapidly increasing worldwide; however, almost all studies that were investigated were bacterial sources with mineral-producing activity and not with organic substances. The difference in the efficiency of using bacteria as an organic agent is that it could improve the durability of cement material. This study aimed to assess the use of biofilm-forming microorganisms as binding agents to increase the compressive strength of cement-sand material. We isolated 13 alkaliphilic biofilmforming bacteria (ABB) from a cement tetrapod block in the West Sea, Korea. Using 16S RNA sequence analysis, the ABB were partially identified as Bacillus algicola KNUC501 and Exiguobacterium marinum KNUC513. KNUC513 was selected for further study following analysis of pH and biofilm formation. Cement-sand mortar cubes containing KNUC513 exhibited greater compressive strength than mineral-forming bacteria (Sporosarcina pasteurii and Arthrobacter crystallopoietes KNUC403). To determine the biofilm effect, Dnase I was used to suppress the biofilm formation of KNUC513. Field emission scanning electron microscopy image revealed the direct involvement of organic-inorganic substance in cement-sand mortar.
