In this paper, we proposed the image hiding method which decreases calculation amount by encrypt partial data using discrete wavelet transform and linear scale quantization which were adopted as the main technique for frequency transform in JPEG2000 standard. Also we used the chaotic system which has smaller calculation amount than other encryption algorithms and then dramatically decreased calculation amount. This method operates encryption process between quantization and entropy coding for preserving compression ratio of images and uses the subband selection method and the random changing method using the chaotic system. For ciphering the quantization index we use a novel image encryption algerian of cyclically shifted in the right or left direction and encrypts two quantization assignment method (Top-down/Reflection code), made change of data less. Also, suggested encryption method to JPEG2000 progressive transmission. The experiments have been performed with the proposed methods implemented in software for about 500 images. consequently, we are sure that the proposed are efficient image encryption methods to acquire the high encryption effect with small amount of encryption. It has been shown that there exits a relation of trade-off between the execution time and the effect of the encryption. It means that the proposed methods can be selectively used according to the application areas. Also, because the proposed methods are performed in the application layer, they are expected to be a good solution for the end-to-end security problem, which is appearing as one of the important problems in the networks with both wired and wireless sections.
Pinching is an important property of reinforced concrete member which characterizes its cyclic behavior. In the present study, numerical studies were performed to investigate the characteristics of pinching behavior and the energy dissipation capacity of flexure-dominated reinforced concrete members. By investigating existing experiments and numerical results, it was found that flexural pinching which has no relation with shear action appears in RC members subject to axial compression force. However, members with specific arrangement and amount of re-bars, have the same energy dissipation capacity regardless of the magnitude of the axial force applied even though the shape of the cyclic curve varies due to the effect of the axial force. This indicates that concrete as a brittle material does not significantly contribute to the energy dissipation capacity though its effect on the behavior increases as the axial force increases, and that energy dissipation occurs primarily by re-bars. Therefore, the energy dissipation capacity of flexure-dominated member can be calculated by the analysis on the cross-section subject to pure bending, regardless of the actual compressive force applied. Based on the findings, a practical method and the related design equations for estimating energy dissipation capacity and damping modification factor was developed, and their validity was verified by the comparisons with existing experiments. The proposed method can be conveniently used in design practice because it accurately estimates energy dissipation capacity with general design parameters.
Coating was carried out on liner components of B flute, single-wall corrugated board(SK180/S120/K200) to examine the effect of liner component coatings by oxidized starch on the properties of corrugated board. Both bursting strength and edgewise compression strength(ECS) of corrugated board were improved by coating of its liner components with oxidized starch. Bursting strength of corrugated board rapidly increased with an initial increase of coating weight, but as the coating weight further increased, there was no increase in bursting strength. The results showed 30.3% improvement for $2.32g/m^2$ coating on outside liner component, 36.8% improvement for $4.84g/m^2$ coating on inside liner component and 39.9% improvement for $7.16g/m^2$ coating on both liner components in bursting strength of corrugated board. Regardless of treated liner components, ECS of corrugated board was improved by coating of oxidized starch, and especially greater improvement was accomplished when corrugated board was coated on inside liner component or both liner components at low level of coating weight - 11.3% improvement for $1.58g/m^2$ coating on Inside liner component and 11.9% improvement for $2.99g/m^2$ coating on both liner components.
A number of true triaxial tests on rock samples have been conducted since the late 1960 and their results strongly suggest that the intermediate principal stress has a considerable effect on rock strength. Based on these experimental evidence, various 3-D rock failure criteria accounting for the effect of the intermediate principal stress have been proposed. Most of the 3-D failure criteria, however, are focused on the phenomenological description of the rock strength from the true triaxial tests, so that the associated strength parameters have little physical meaning. In order to confirm the likelihood that the intermediate principal stress dependency of rock strength is related to the presence of weak planes and their distribution to the preferred orientation, true triaxial tests are simulated with the transversely isotropic rock model. The conventional Mohr-Coulomb criterion is extended to its anisotropic version by incorporating the concept of microstructure tensor. With the anisotropic Mohr-Coulomb criterion, the critical plane approach is applied to calculate the strength of the transversely isotropic rock model and the orientation of the fracture plane. This investigation hints that the spatial distribution of microstructural planes with respect to the principal stress triad is closely related to the intermediate principal stress dependency of rock strength.

Fines such as silt or clay are usually mixed with granular particles in natural or reclaimed soils which are slightly cemented. Such fines contained within weakly cemented soils may influence permeability and also mechanical behavior of the soils. In this study, a series of unconfined compression tests on weakly cemented sands with fines are carried out in order to evaluate the effect of fines on unconfined compressive strength (UCS) of cemented soils. Two different cement ratios and fine types were used and fine contents varied by 5, 10, and 15%. Two types of specimens were prepared in this testing. One is the specimen with the same compaction energy applied. The other is the one with the same dry density by varying compaction energy. When the same amount of compaction energy was applied to a specimen, its density increased as a fine content increased. As a result, the UCS of cemented soils with fines increased up to 2.6 times that of one without fines as an amount of fines increased. However, when the specimen was prepared to have the same density, its UCS slightly decreased and then increased a little as a fine content increased. Under the same conditions, a UCS of the specimen with silt was stronger than the one with kaolin. As a cement ratio increased, a UCS increased regardless of fine type and content.
Osteoporosis is a systemic skeletal disease caused by low bone mass and the decrease of bone density in the microstructure of trabecular bone. Drug therapy(PTH Parathyroid hormone) may increase the trabecular thickness and thus bone strength. Vertebroplasty is a minimally invasive surgery foy the treatment of osteoporotic vertebral compression fracture. This Procedure includes Puncturing vertebrae and filling with Polymethylmethacrylate(PMMA). Although altering recommended monomer-to-Powder ratio affects material properties of bone cement, clinicians commonly alter the mixture ratio to decrease viscosity and increase the working time. The Purposes of this study were to analyze the effect of 4he monomer-to-powder ratio on the mechanical characteristics of trabecular. In this paper, the finite element model of human vertebral trabecualr bone was developed by modified Voronoi diagram, to analyze the relative effect of hormone therapy and vertebroplasty at the treatment of osteoporotic vertebrae. Trabeuclar bone models for vertebroplasty with varied monomer-to-Powder ratio(0.40∼1.07 ㎖/g) were analyzed. Effective modulus and strength of bone cement-treated models were approximately 60% of those of intact models and these are almost twice the values of hormone-treated models. The bone cement models with the ratio of 0.53㎖/g have the maximum modulus and strength. For the ratio of 1.07㎖/g, the modulus and strength were minimum(42% and 49% respectively) but these were greater than those for drug therapy. This study shows that bone cement treatment is more effective than drug therapy. It is found that in vertebroplasty, using a monomer-to-powder ratio different from that recommended by manufacturer nay significantly not only reduce the cement's material Properties but also deteriorate the mechanical characteristics of osteoporotic vertebrae.

Spiral reinforcement in a circular column plays an effective role in the ductile behavior of a column through position fixing and buckling restraining of the longitudinal reinforcement, and confining core-concrete. Each country has suggested the minimum volumetric ratio of spiral reinforcement in order to secure the ductility of concrete columns. The minimum volumetric ratio of spiral reinforcement suggested by ACI 318-14 and the national concrete structure design standard was developed based on the theory of Richard et al. (1928); furthermore it has been used until now. However, their theory cannot consider the effects of high strength concrete and high strength reinforcement, and arrangement condition of the spiral reinforcement. In this study, a modified minimum volumetric ratio equation is suggested, which is required to improve the ductility of reinforced concrete circular columns and to recover their stress. The modified minimum volumetric ratio equation suggested here considers the effect of the compressive strength of concrete, the yield strength of spiral reinforcement, the cross sectional area of columns, the pitch of spiral reinforcements and the diameter of spiral reinforcement. In this paper, the validity of the minimum volumetric ratios from ACI 318-14 and this study was investigated and compared based on the results of uniaxial compression experiment for specimens in which the material strength and the spiral reinforcements ratio were used as variables. In the end of the study, the modification method for the suggested equation was examined.

Pack micropiles were recently developed to improve pile capacity of general micropiles. Pack micropiles were made by warping thread bar or steel pipe of general micropile by geotexlile pack and grouting inside the pack with pressure. According to the pressure, the boring hole could be enlarged. A series of pile uplift tests were performed on three micropiles. Two out of the three piles were the pack micropiles and the other was the general micropile, in which a thread bar was used in the boring hole. According to the pressure applied to the pack micropiles, the diameter of boring hole was enlarged from 152 mm to 220 mm. Unit skin friction mobilized on side surfaces of micropiles increased with displacement of pile head and reached on a constant value, which represents that the relative displacement between piles (or thread bar) and soils was reached on critical state. And the uplift resistance of pack micropile was higher than that of general micropile. Two reasons can be considered: One is that the frictional surface increases due to enlarging diameter of boring holes and the other is that the unit skin friction could increase due to compressing effect of surrounding soils by soil displacement as much as the enlarging volume of boring hole. The compression effect appeared at deeper layer rather than surface layer. The unit skin friction mobilized on micropiles with small diameter was higher than the ones on large bored piles.

The Miller cycle is a diesel engine that has been developed in recent years that it can reduce NOx and improve fuel consumption by reducing the compression ratio through intake valve closing (IVC) time control. The Miller cycle can be divided into the early Miller method of closing the intake valve before the bottom dead center (BDC) and the late Miller method of closing the intake valve after the BDC. At low speeds, the late Miller method is advantageous as it can increase the volumetric efficiency; while at medium and high speeds, the early Miller method is advantageous because of the high internal temperature reduction effect due to the expansion of the intake air during the piston lowering from IVC to BDC. Therefore, in consideration of the ef ects of the early and late Miller methods, it is necessary to adopt the most suitable Miller method for the operating conditions. In this study, a two-stage turbo charge system was applied to four-stroke engines and the process of enhancing the Miller effect through a reduction of the intake and exhaust valve overlap as well as the valve change adjustment mechanism were considered. As a result, the ef ects of fuel consumption and Tmax reduction were confirmed by adopting the Miller cycle with a two-stage supercharge, a reduction of valve overlap, and an increase of suction valve lift.
