Multiple ZnO nanorod device detecting $NO_2$ gas was fabricated by sol-gel growth method and gas response characteristics were measured as a chemical gas sensor. The device is mainly composed of sensing electrode and sensing nano material. To acquire high sensitivity of the device for $NO_2$ gas it was heated by a heat chuck up to $400^{\circ}C$ The sensing part was easily made using the CMOS compatible process, for example, the large area and low temperature nano material growth process, etc. The sensors were successfully demonstrated and showed high sensitive response for $NO_2$ gas sensing.
Thermal analysis has been performed to evaluate the thermal effect on composite antenna (Ka-band) structure in space environment. The concepts of thermal control are also presented to maintain the antenna components within respective temperature limits. A steady-state algorithm of I-DEAS' thermal analysis software was utilized to predict both maximum and minimum temperature, maximum gradient temperature, and temperature distribution on each antenna component.

We investigated thermal behavior of spin-coated films of P(HB-co-HHx)/PEG blends by using infraredreflection absorption (IRRAS) spectroscopy and 2D correlation spectroscopy. Based on 2D IRRAS correlation spectra, we could determine the sequence of spectral intensity changes with increasing temperature that PEG band changes first and then a band for crystalline component of P(HB-co-HHx) changes before a band for amorphous component. The intensities of bands for PEG and amorphous P(HB-co-HHx) were changed greatly as PEG weigh % of P(HB-co-HHx)/PEG blends increased. Transition temperatures of P(HB-co-HHx)/PEG blends were successfully determined by 2D gradient mapping method. The transition temperature of spincoated films of 98/2 and 90/10 P(HB-co-HHx)/PEG blends and 80/20 P(HB-co-HHx)/PEG blend determined by 2D gradient map are, respectively, about 137.5 and $132.5^{\circ}C$. Furthermore, P(HB-co-HHx)/PEG blends show an additional transition temperature that have been interpreted in terms of different lamellar thicknesses in spin coated films.
To reduce the dependence of wool dyeing on the temperature several solvents with different properties and structures were added to the dye bath of C. I. Acid Yellow 42. Nearly the same total solubility parameters(${\delta}_t$) of solvents as those of wool fiber and hydrophobic part of the dyestuff were needed to increase disaggregation of dye molecules, loosening the wool fiber and wickabilty of dyeing solution; besides, the large surface tension(${\gamma}$) value of the solvents and the well balanced values of the three-component Hansen solubility parameters such as dispersion(${\delta}_d$), polar(${\delta}_p$), and hydrogen(${\delta}_h$) bonding parameters were required. Among the added solvents dimethyl phthalate(DMP) and acetophenone(AP) were satisfied with these conditions and worked the most successfully in the low temperature wool dyeing. Their effectiveness proven by the dyeing rate and the activation energy ($E_a$) of the dyeing was in the order of DMP > AP > DBE > CH > M >NONE. In conclusion the total solubility parameters(${\delta}_t$), the three-component Hansen parameters and the surface tension(${\gamma}$) of DMP and AP could be the guidelines to select suitable solvents for low temperature wool dyeing.
An electronic noses system including six metal oxide sensors was used to predict the characteristics of shelf-life of soybean curd. Soybean curd was stored at two different temperatures defined as low temperature(5$\^{C}$) and high temperature(25$\^{C}$). Resistance changes of the sensors were measured 13 times for 19 days at low temperature and 19 times for 120 hours at high temperature. Three different analytical methods such as graphical analysis(GA), principal component analysis(PCA), and cluster analysis(CA) were used to analyze sensors outputs. The ratio of resistance was decreased according to increasement of shelf-life. Using PCA it was possible to predict freshness and shelf-life time of soybean curds. Also, using CA it was possible to simplify an electronic nose system. Electronic nose system could be an efficient method to predict shelf-life and to evaluate quality in foods.
The effects of blending starches with different gelatinization temperatures on the development of ply-bond strength were systematically investigated using a three component mixture design technique. Oxidized corn starches with different gelatinization temperatures were blended with natural corn starch and sprayed for plybonding. Optimum blend ratio for maximizing plybond strength improvement for the starch blends was 40% of natural starch, 27% of oxidized starch with low gelatinization temperature and 33% of oxidized starch with high gelatinization temperature. Starch granules with the lowest gelatinization temperature gelatinizes at the lowest temperature, while the natural corn starch gelatinizes at later stage of drying. The improvement of plybond strength with starch blends were verified on machine trial as well. Plybond strength improvement obtained from the machine trial was lower than that achievable with handsheets, which was attributed to the lower internal bond strength of the linerboards made from recycled fibers.
Functional materials are often exposed to high temperatures and inherent temperature gradients. These temperature gradients act as thermodynamic driving forces for the diffusion of mobile components. The detailed consequences of thermodiffusion depend on the boundary conditions of the non-isothermal sample: Once the boundaries of the sample are inert and closed for exchange of the mobile components, thermodiffusion leads to their pile-up in the stationary state (the so called Soret effect). Once the system is open for an exchange of the mobile component, chemical diffusion adds to the Soret effect, and stationary non-zero component fluxes are additionally observed in the stationary state. In this review, the essential aspects of thermodiffusion and Soret effect in inorganic functional materials are briefly summarized and our current practical knowledge is reviewed. Major examples include nonstoichiometric binary compounds (oxides and other chalcogenides) and ternary solid solutions. The potential influence of the Soret effect on the long term stability of high temperature thermoelectrics is briefly discussed. Typical Soret coefficients for nonstoichiometric compounds are found to be of the order of (d${\delta}$/dT) ${\approx}$ 1%/K.
Celluloytic microorgnasims were isolated form the various sources and four of them were identified as Trichoderma roningi, Aspergillus niger, Penicillium chrysogenum, and Streptomyces sp. The induction of extracellular5 cellulase of these species in the liquid culture media containing carboxymethylcellulose (CMC) or Avicel as inducer showed that CMC was a better effective inducer for the production of CMCase(Cx cellulase component) as well as Avicelase(C$_{1}$ cellulase component) than Avicel. It is believed that certain hydrolysis products of cellulose(CMC) could serve as an inducer for an enzyme synthesis. In T. roningi, Asp. niger, and Strptomyces sp., the optimum temperature of CNCase on CMC-culture medium was 50.deg. but temperature around 40.deg.C was found to be optimum for the activities of CMCase prepared from P.ehrysogenum. The optimum temperature for Avicelase activitiles on Avicel-culture media of T. roningi and P. chrysogenum was $40{\circ}C$ whereas temperature $50{\circ}C$ was found to be optimum for Avicelase from A.niger and Streptomyces sp. The optimal activities of these CNCase and Avicelase prepared from. T. ronigi, Pen.chrysogenum and Streptomyces sp. were found similarly to be at pH's around 5.4 and 6.0 while pH 4.8 was optimum for the activities of CMCase and Avicelase from A.niger, indicating that A.niger in acidic media would yield an enzyme of high activity.
