Purpose: Crowdfunding can be a complementary channel in which start-ups or small companies can obtain financial help and take advantage of exploiting the online potential. To activate crowdfunding, it is necessary to consider a consumer's empathic responses. This article examines the role of empathy in the crowdfunding channel platform. We adopted the identification-commitment model to prove the role of empathy. Research design, data, and methodology: Participants were asked to read the charitable crowdfunding campaign. More than 300 young adults completed an online questionnaire and we analyzed it with structural equation modeling (SEM). To find out the role of empathy, we postulate several models which use empathy variable for different purposes. Results: We conclude that empathy has the role of moderator in the identification-commitment model. This means the high empathic response helped the relationship between identification and commitment. However, low empathic response can negatively influence the process of identification to commitment. Conclusions: This study found that virtual empathy is positively related to crowdfunding participation if we can elevate empathy in the crowdfunding channel platform. The findings also show that we need to consider empathic response when we want to raise funds for specific projects such as protecting the natural environment.

The growth of mobile commerce (m-commerce) has been accelerated around the world. Why do e-retailers have to put a great deal of effort for the distribution of their mobile apps? The literature has paid little attention to the influence of the introduction of an e-commerce app on shopping behaviors of consumers. By analyzing the dataset of 2,342 users in Korea, this study aims to broaden our understanding of mobile shopping app usage across competing e-retailers and different channels. We found that a user's prior usage of a specific e-commerce mobile app increases her subsequent usage of its website through a mobile web browser. Thus, mobile apps do not cannibalize the mobile web channel, and there could be a complementary relationship. We also found that a user's usage of competitors' apps is positively associated with her subsequent usage of a specific e-commerce app. Because many consumers search products and compare prices across multiple e-retailers, having a mobile app helps an e-retailer be exposed to more potential consumers. This study is among the first to study the role of mobile apps in e-commerce by showing the dynamics of cross-channel and cross-vendor usage by a user.

With the basic research logic stating that the systematic improvement of rural housing plot's boundary barriers should call for the integrated consideration of their on-and-around installing settings, this study tries to analyse characteristics of installing environment of boundary barriers for improvement works of them. Through literature review and then screening process, 3 influencing and appraisal factors were determined: main house-boundary barrier shortest distance as on-site factor, building coverage as inside one, and attached road width as outside one. 21 study villages were subgrouped into structurally improved(9) and not(12). Site investigation and analysis results showed that the relationship between factors has varied very much, i.e. in some cases it is positive or complementary, but in other cases, negative or crossed. Therefore this study would propose that differentiated and flexible strategies with integrated consideration of on-and-around site installing settings be applied in their improvement projects rather than village-wide unified or straight forwarded ones.

This thesis is a kind of case report on the managerial difficulties and strategies to overcome them for the rural hospitals in Korea. We examined environmental situations and SWOT(Strength, Weakness, Opportunity, Threat) of the hospitals, and suggested some strategies to improve the hospital business through analysing secondary data and brief survey to staffs and patients at 3 case hospitals. Among the strategies were included establishment of their identity as community hospitals, positioning towards high-touch services rather than high-tech services to improve their competence. For this positioning, patient satisfaction should be emphasized to make rapport with the residents in the community, and a few service areas should be selected and strengthened. Emergency care and geriatric health services are recommended to be covered strongly, because rural hospitals are usually the one and only hospital in the region and rural communities have aged population structure. In addition to these, networking is necessary among rural hospitals nationwide and with local clinics and tertiary hospitals near urban areas. And also, complementary role division with community health post should be developed to lessen the competitive relationship between public and private sectors. To support these strategies, fresh organizational culture should be built up to make hospital staff creative and enthusiastic on their job. Finally, inducement of governmental assistance will be necessary to make the environment advantageous to the rural hospitals.

One of the key problems in the design of high-rise commercial complex is how to guide reasonable pedestrian distribution in commercial space. In this study, pedestrian distribution in three high-rise commercial complexes in Shanghai and Hong Kong was studied using spatial configuration analysis software Space Syntax and quantification of physical elements in commercial spaces, such as functional attractiveness, entrances, escalators, level variations and passage width. Additionally, in an attempt to integrate functions with spatial integration and spatial depth, two combination variables, the spatial coefficient of function (IF) and spatial depth coefficient of function (F/D), were proposed. The results of the correlation analysis and multiple regression analyses reflected the following: (1) Regarding the influence on pedestrian distribution, there was a synergistic and complementary relationship between function and space; (2) The comprehensive flow distribution analytic model could successfully interpret flow distribution in high-rise commercial complexes and its R Square ranged up to about 70% in the three cases; (3) The spatial coefficient of function (IF) and spatial depth coefficient (F/D) could effectively integrate functions and spatial configuration, which could help close the gap between over-emphasis on function in commercial research and the lack of consideration of function in space-syntax analysis.

The Korean doty barbel Hemibarbus mylodon (Cypriniformes; Cyprinidae) is a critically endangered freshwater fish species mainly because of its natural habitat degradation. Three full-length complementary DNA (cDNA) clones representing different muscle actin isoforms were isolated and characterized. The three muscle actin isoforms were 1,294-1,601 bp long with the identical open reading frames of 1,134 bp with the deduced amino acid residues of 377. They showed 83.9-87.2% identities in the coding nucleotide level and 96.8-98.1% identities in the amino acid level. Phylogenetic analysis with the coding nucleotide sequences revealed that three muscle actin isoforms of H. mylodon formed strongly supported monophyletic groups with one of cypriniform skeletal $\alpha$-actin (acta1), cypriniform aortic $\alpha$-actins (acta2), and uncharacterized Danio rerio muscle actin isoform/Salmo trutta slow muscle actin (a novel muscle actin type). Our phylogenetic tree further suggested that cypriniform acta2 only showed the orthologous relationship to tetrapod acta2. Other multiple actin isoforms from diverse teleostean taxa were however clustered to no tetrapod orthologs, i.e., acta1, cardiac $\alpha$-actins (aetc1), acta2, and enteric $\gamma$-actin (actg2). This result strongly suggested that teleostean muscle actins have experienced different and complicated evolutionary history in comparison to mammalian counterparts.

This study was designed to explore behaviors of readers of online papers. First, the factor analysis of the online paper motive statements yielded three interpretable factors : informativeness, convenience, economicalness. For online paper use habits, a similar factor analysis procedure resulted in three factors : active utilization, news seeking, information seeking. Informativeness motive and active utilization habit were strongly related, convenience motive and news seeking habit related. Online papers and newspapers were found to be in complementary relationship. Internet access and newspaper reading, active utilization and news seeking habits were significant predictors of online paper use. The result of this study showed online paper readers perceived interactive services online papers offered. and want to utilize those effectively. This study suggests that online papers need to develop various interactive services to attract readers.

Although aspiration towards quality of life and holistic health has been growing faster in our modern society and the affordance of health in built environment has been more acknowledged, there has been hardly any development on built environment planning and design theory that can be comfortably and confidently used in creating built environment to promote holistic health. Thereby, this study sets out to experimently formulate a composite theory that explains the relationship between health and built environment. The main methodology of this study is literature review and analysis. Theories that have been applied in other similar fields were chosen to be analyzed by health related perspectives and graft those theories onto holistic health viewpoints to compose a comprehensive theory. Selected theories that were considered useful to be analyzed were Lawton's Environment Press Theory, Carp & Carp's Complementary & Congruence Theory, Valins' Activity-based Design Criteria Theory, Atchley's Continuity Theory, Murtha & Lee's User Benefit Criteria Theory, and Alexander's Pattern Language Theory. Characteristics of these theories were compared by their abstractness and concreteness, and the range of application, and analyzed by a holistic health perspective. Then, these theories were comprehensively structuralized and synthesized as a built environment for health theory. This study has its significance in providing a base to develop healthy built environment research further as it introduced a conceptual framework which explains spatial elements in the health functionality point of view.

Continuous airworthiness system is comprised of regulations and procedures to assure the safety and reliability through the total stage of development, certification and operation of aircraft. The purpose of this system is not only to provide the guidelines that should be kept by manufacturers and operators, but also to evaluate the maintenance capability in every activity of safety related procedures. During the development process of the mid and large size aircraft, operational experience should be reflected systematically for a safer and more reliable product by using the meaningful data base from operation. The relationship of safety roles between manufacturer and operator is mutually complementary, and the roles of each function have an influence to the next step. Overall structure of the procedure contains the concept of continuous analysis and feedback to achieve highest degree of safety and reliability during the entire life of aircraft. Finally, this paper describes how the feedback is made and used for aircraft design from operational experience under the continuous analysis and surveillance system.

Data provider and data user are linked together by suitable data. This implies that for a successful relationship the provider knows what kind of data, whether original or processed, is needed by the user and that the user articulates his needs to the provider. The co-operation between Korea and Austria aims at identifying these needs and to provide suitable routines for the processing of satellite data. Partners of this co-operation are the Korea Aerospace Research Institute, ARC Seibersdorf research and GeoVille. While the focus of the former lies in the development and running of satellite systems, the latter two have experience in the development and set up of applications in the field of remote sensing. Based on the complementary know-how by the institutions involved, projects were set up in Korea and Austria to fulfill this need and establish a pilot data feed for governmental applications.
