  • The purpose of this study is to develop and validate an unplugged instructional model for pre-service teachers' SW competences in higher education. The unplugged instructional model was developed through the following procedures; 1) developing the 1st model based on the results of literature review, 2) getting test for use by one practicing instructor, 3) collecting the opinions of learners who participated in the unplugged instruction, and 4) getting model validation by 4 experts. The developed unplugged instructional model consists of 6 phases: 'stimulating of learners' motivation', 'introducing learning activities', 'constructing an activities', experiencing unplugged activities', 'extending and generating outcome of unplugged learning', and 'reflecting' in addition, each phase includes learning activities. The validation results confirm that the unplugged instructional model was both reliable.

  • The aim of this study was to develop a comprehensive home economics teaching-learning plan, following the stages of analysis, design, development, and evaluation. The focus was on the 2015 revised home economics curriculum, specifically the 'prevention of sexual violence,' to enhance students' digital literacy competencies. In the analysis stage, the necessity of developing digital literacy competencies was confirmed by analyzing the 2022 revised national curriculum. Extracting elements from the 2015 revised home economics curriculum and textbooks, a digital tool utilization plan was designed in the subsequent design stage, aligning with learning goals, content composition, and digital literacy competency for each class. The development stage involved creating teaching-learning materials and digital tools for six sessions, centered around the topic of 'prevention of sexual violence.' In the evaluation stage, six content experts assessed the teaching-learning plans using a 5-point Likert scale and open-ended questions. The validity evaluation confirmed the effectiveness of the teaching-learning plans in improving middle school students' digital literacy competencies. Based on feedback from the experts, the plans for the six sessions were revised, with an additional session added, resulting in a total of seven sessions. It is envisioned that the home economics teaching and learning plans developed in this study can be implemented in home economics classes to foster students' digital literacy capabilities.

  • In this study, we analyzed the effects of program participation aimed at enhancing self-directed learning abilities in university students on the motivational, cognitive, and behavioral aspects of self-directed learning. The study included 2,302 students enrolled in a university located in Region D, and data collection took place from March 2 to December 31, 2022. Comparing the experimental group(751 students) who participated in the program for self-directed learning improvement with the control group(1551 students), the experimental group exhibited a 0.24-point increase, whereas the control group showed a 0.08-point increase, demonstrating a significant difference between the two groups(t=34.89, p<.001). Furthermore, in the post-hoc analysis of self-directed learning ability scores based on the frequency of program participation, the mean difference between those who participated in 1 to 3 programs and those engaged in 4 to 6 programs was 0.067 points(p<.001). The mean difference between participants in 4 to 6 programs and those in 7 or more programs was -0.135 points(p<.001), and the mean difference between those involved in 1 to 3 programs and those in 7 or more programs was 0.067 points(p<.001). These results underscore the importance of recognizing self-directed learning abilities as a crucial competency in higher education and emphasize the significance of efforts to promote program participation and increase participation frequency.

In order to achieve this research purpose, 'Meal and Cooking for Single-Person Households' education program was developed, implemented, and evaluated based on the ADDIE instructional design model. The results of this study are as follows. First, an analysis was conducted on literature and prior research related to the dietary life of single-person households and dietary education programs of the home economics subject. Based on this, the theoretical background for the 'Meal and Cooking for Single-Person Households' education program was established. Then, teaching-learning process plan and student workbooks for a total of 16 unit classes were developed. The expert validity of the program was verified by 6 experts who are current high school home economics teachers and have experience in conducting research related to dietary education programs. As a result, the average of all items was 4.89 (out of 5 points) and the CVI was 0.98, securing very excellent content validity. Second, the researcher directly implemented 'Meal and Cooking for Single-Person Households' education program for 100 students in Y high school located in Sejong city. Considering the school's situation, the 16th session of teaching-learning process plan was shortened to 6th sessions while all the core topics. A survey was conducted on students who participated in the program and the pre- and post- results were analyzed. As a result of the survey analysis, the 'Meal and Cooking for Single-Person Households' education program had a positive effect on improving the dietary management competency of high school students. • Higher educational institutions face an increasing demand for developing a renewed set of competencies of college students who will live in the knowledge-based society. However, relatively little is known about what constitutes the core competencies that college students need to develop and how we can improve them. Nine categories of core competencies required for college graduates were drawn from the previous research and examples of core competencies developed by other institutions. They are analytic thinking skills, problem-solving skills, communicating skills, collaborative working skills, and etc. A reading guidance course for strengthening core competencies, developed based on the teaching and learning methods was adapted to students of LIS for one semester. Implications of these and related findings are discussed.

  • Capstone design is a creative and comprehensive educational program requiring practical adaptation skills for the industry. The purpose of this study was to analyze the results of design development, lectures and curriculum satisfaction for textile fashion products based on four years of capstone design curriculum from 2015 to 2018. The curriculum consists of 26 groups of 72 students and a total of 26 final results were obtained via industry-university cooperation. The materials for product design development included differentiated clothing, leisure goods, bags, dog goods, smart goods, interior goods and recycled products based on textiles. The degree of satisfaction with lectures involving the capstone design class was very high, with 4.2 out of 5.0 when the number of students was less than 10. However, when the number of students was 20 or higher and the number of students was large, the level of satisfaction was below 3.88. Therefore, the capstone design class comprising less than 10 students was better at individual teaching and teamwork. In terms of satisfaction with capstone design curriculum, the respondents indicated that the teaching method addressing the needs of industry and academia facilitated practical learning. It was very helpful in improving competency related to the design and development majors and future employment. The capstone design curriculum was effective in the training for practical design development and planning.
