  • This paper presents a navigation error compensation scheme for Strap-Down Inertial Navigation System(SDINS) using electro-optical sensor. The proposed scheme uses the position or the attitude information from the sensor. For each case, Kalman filter model is derived and implemented. To show the effectiveness of the present compensation scheme, computer simulations have been carried out resulting in the boundedness of position and attitude errors.

  • For the precision positioning and tracking control, the proper friction compensation is essential. The friction causes steady state error. The friction compensation based on the velocity and the controlling input or the desired velocity provides limited performance if the compensation value is fixed. In this paper, a friction compensation scheme using a fuzzy logic is proposed. The friction compensation amount is adjusted depending on the velocity and controlling input. The proposed fuzzy friction compensator with a pole-assignment controller is implemented in a linear positioning system. To illustrate the effectiveness of this scheme, computer simulations and experiments are carried out for the cases of no friction compensation, the proposed fuzzy friction compensation, and another friction compensation scheme based on velocity and control input, and the results are compared with each other.

  • This paper presents the implementation of the real-time object tracking control of the ROBOKER head. The visual servoing technique is used to track the moving object, but suffers from ill-estimated Jacobian of the virtual link design. To improve the tracking performance, the RBF(Radial Basis Function) network is used to compensate for uncertainties in the kinematics of the robot head in on-line fashion. The reference compensation technique is employed as a neural network control scheme. Performances of three schemes, the kinematic based scheme, the Jacobian based scheme, and the neural network compensation scheme are verified by experimental studies. The neural compensation scheme performs best.

  • In this paper, a friction compensation scheme using a fuzzy logic is presented. For the precision positioning and tracking control, the proper friction compensation is essential.   • This paper addresses the design and implementation of compensation of rain attenuation for Ka-band satellite communication system complied with DVB-RCS[2]. A structure of rain fade compensation scheme in the Ka-band satellite communication system is presented. Rain fade compensation scheme in this paper is mainly applied into return-link, which is the path through which user terminal transmit the data tn hub system providing a service. Symbol rate and code rate of channel code are used as variable transmission parameter for rain fade compensation. For estimation of channel environment, SNR of the user terminal which is measured by demodulator of hub system is used. Rain fade compensation scheme in the paper changes the symbol rate and/or code rate according to the measured SNR so that it can compensate the attenuation of the signal.

  • This paper proposes a simple compensation scheme for the time delay caused by measurement, calculation and selection of voltage vector in Direct Torque Control (DTC) of an induction motor. In general scheme, it is difficult to know the exact delay time, furthermore the delay time can be varied by program routines for calculation and processing of measured data. In this proposed scheme, by applying voltage vector at the beginning of next sampling period, a fixed delay time is achieved and its compensation becomes much simpler. Furthermore, with the simple compensation algorithm, an improved performance can be achieved by shortening sampling period. Experimental results prove the feasibility of the proposed scheme in induction motor control.

  • In the current study, automatic tool compensation is accomplished by using a finite element stamping analysis for a center roof rail made of UHSS in order to satisfy the specifications for shape accuracy. The initial blank shape is calculated from a finite element inverse analysis and potential forming defects such as tearing and wrinkling are determined by the finite element stamping analysis based on the initial tool shape. The blank shape is optimized to meet the shape requirements of the final product with the stamping analysis, and die compensation is determined with the information about springback. The specifications for shape accuracy were successfully achieved by the proposed die compensation scheme using the finite element stamping analysis. The current study demonstrates that the compensation tendency is similar when the proposed scheme is used or when the compensation is performed by trial and error in the press-shop. This similarity verifies that the automatic compensation scheme can be used effectively in the first stage of tool design especially for components made from UHSS.

  • A neural networks (NN) saturation compensation scheme for DC motor systems is presented. The scheme that leads to stability, command following and disturbance rejection is rigorously proved. On-line weights tuning law, the overall closed loop performance and the boundness of the NN weights are derived and guaranteed based on Lyapunov approach. The simulation and experimental results show that the proposed scheme effectively compensate for saturation nonlinearity in the presence of system uncertainty.

  • In this paper, a compensation scheme for the effect of dc-link ripple voltages on output voltage of two-leg and three-phase PWM inverters is proposed, without which compensation scheme the three-phase output voltage and current are much distorted. The proposed scheme has been verified by experimental results.

  • This paper describes an optimized Scheme of reactive-power compensation for the low short-circuit-ratio AC system interconnected with the HVDC system. An HVDC system interconnected with tile low SCR AC system is vulnerable to the ac voltage variation, which brings about the commutation failure of the converter. This problem can be solved using optimized compensation of reactive power. In this study, a benchmark system for HVDC system interconnected with low SCR AC system is derived using PSS/E simulation. Then an optimized srheme for reactive power compensation was derived using integer programming. The feasibility of proposed scheme was analyzed through silnulations with PSS/E and PSCAD/EMTDC. The proposed scheme can compensate the reactive power accurately and minimize the number of switching for harmonic filters and shunt reactors.
