The present study proposes the various hypothesis tests and interval estimations for homogeneous and heterogeneous populations in the continuous and discrete process. The thermohydrodynamic performance of large tilting pad journal bearings is analyzed, taking into account the three dimensional variation of lubricant viscosity. The eddy viscosity model based on wall formula is applied. The effects of temperature rise and turbulence on the bearing performance are studied in comparision with the isothermal or the laminar analysis. It is shown that these effects have significant influence on temperature distribution, load capacity and power loss of the bearing.

This study has compared the two types of systems which measure the temperature of coal powder in feeder lines of boiler and analyzed operating data. We used RTD(Resistance Temperature Detector) and optic sensors to measure the temperature. From the characteristic comparison of data, field test and system operation, we confirm that the latter is more efficient than the former.

The importance of left truncated and right censoring cases has considered for better information in medical follow-up and engineering life testing studies. We propose some estimation procedure for the mean residual life function with consistency and asymptotic normality on the left truncated and right censoring model. And then, the comparision with Kaplan-Meier estimator ignoring the left truncated effect and the small sample properities are investigated by asymptotic biases and M.S.E.'s thresh Monte Carlo study.

In this study, we performed the recognition test on Korean vowel using peripheral auditory model. In addition, for the purpose of objective comparision, the recognition test is performed by extracting LPC cepstrum coefficients from the same data. And the same speech data are mixed with the Guaussian white noise quantitatively, then we repeated the same test, too. So we verified that this auditory model has a adaptability on noise.

This paper proposes an efficient fault diagnosis for digital circuits using multilayer neural networks. The efficient learning algorithm is also proposed for the multilayer neural network, which is combined the steepest descent for high-speed optimization and the dynamic tunneling for global optimization. The fault-diagnosis system using the multilayer neural network of the proposed algorithm has been applied to the parity generator circuit. The simulation results shows that the proposed system is higher convergence speed and rate, in comparision with system using the backpropagation algorithm based on the gradient descent.

Knowing the reason for constitutional severe sweating of Tae-Eum-In, we have collected 20 person of Tae-Eum-In and 20 person of the others, and measured weight and circumference of neck, chest, abdomen and hip and cholinesterase, epinephrine and norepinephrine in blood. Except group of epinephrine among them, remakable difference had been in the rest comparision, so it considerded that be able to distinguish the characteristics of constitutions.
