Purpose : The purpose of this study is to investigate how the existence of companion animals and the type of companion animals affect the quality of life and emotional stability of adults in their 20s. Methods : The subjects of this study were adults in their twenties living in Busan who could understand the method of this study. The survey method was conducted with a questionnaire, consisting of 4 questions on general characteristics, 26 questions on quality of life, and 20 questions on emotional stability for a total of 50 questions. An independent t-test and one-way ANOVA were used to verify the difference in quality of life and emotional stability according to general characteristics. Results : As a result of analyzing the difference in the quality of life of the study subjects, the case of having a companion animal scored statistically significantly higher in the satisfaction of the physical domain, psychological domain, living environment domain, overall quality of life domain, and social domain. In addition, there was a statistically significant difference in the case of companion animals according to the type of companion animal. However, there was no statistical significance in the analysis of differences in emotional stability of study subjects according to the presence or absence of companion animals. Conclusion : This study was conducted with 400 adults in their twenties to determine the effects of the presence and absence and type of companion animals on the quality of life and emotional stability of adults in their twenties. As a result, the group with companion animals showed higher satisfaction scores than the group without companion animals in terms of quality of life. This suggests that raising companion animals for adults in their 20s has a positive effect on improving their quality of life. Therefore, it can be recommended for the physical, psychological, and social health of adults in their 20s.

본 연구의 목적은 현대사회에서 급증하고 있는 반려동물과 관련하여 반려동물의 사육경험이 초등학생의 과학에 대한 흥미, 과학호기심 및 과학자아개념에 미치는 영향을 알아보는 것이다. 본 연구의 목적을 달성하기 위해 초등학교 6학년 학생 474명을 대상으로 반려동물 사육경험에 따른 과학에 대한 흥미, 과학호기심, 과학자아개념 수준을 ANOVA 및 독립표본 t검정을 통해 비교·분석하였다. 분석 결과, 반려동물 사육경험이 있는 학생의 과학에 대한 흥미, 과학호기심, 과학자아개념이 사육경험이 없는 학생보다 통계적으로 더 높게 나타났다. 학생들은 흥미와 호기심을 느끼며 반려동물 사육활동에 참여하며, 반려동물을 사육하기 위해 필요한 지식을 습득하는 과정 및 성공적인 사육경험으로 인하여 자아개념도 높아진 것으로 판단된다. 본 연구의 결과는 그동안 과학교육 분야에서 많이 연구되지 않았던 반려동물을 소재로 하여 반려동물 사육경험이 과학교육에 주는 시사점에 대해 논의하였다는 점에서 의미가 있다.

With the growing interest in companion animals and the rapidly expanding animal healthcare and pharmaceuticals market worldwide. With the advancements in RNAsequencing (RNA-seq) technology, it has become a valuable tool for understanding biological processes in companion animals and has multiple applications in animal healthcare. Historically, veterinary diagnoses and treatments relied solely on clinical symptoms and drugs used in human diseases. However, RNA-seq has emerged as an effective technology for studying companion animals, providing insights into their genetic information. The sequencing technology has revealed that not only messenger RNAs (mRNAs) but also noncoding RNAs (ncRNAs) such as long ncRNAs and microRNAs can serve as biomarkers. Based on the examination of RNA-seq applications in veterinary medicine, particularly in dogs and cats, this review concludes that RNA-seq has significant potential as a diagnostic and research tool. It has enabled the identification of potential biomarkers for cancer and other diseases in companion animals. Further research and development are required to maximize the utilization of RNA-seq for improved disease diagnosis and therapeutic targeting in companion animals.

개, 고양이 등과 같은 애완동물을 가족 구성원, 동반자의 개념으로 받아들이게 되어 반려동물로 부르는 일이 점점 보편화되게 되었다. 반려동물을 사람과 동일시하고 가족의 일원으로 대우하는 추세가 점점 확산되면서 사람들이 반려동물을 위한 음식, 건강, 여가 등에 더욱 신경 쓰게 되고 고가의 제품을 찾고 이와 연관된 비즈니스의 성장을 가속화시키고 있다. 본 연구는 반려동물 온라인 쇼핑몰을 방문한 고객들을 대상으로 온라인 설문을 진행하여 데이터를 수집하였다. 반려동물을 키우면서 반려동물 온라인 쇼핑몰에서 한 번이라도 구매해 본 사람들만을 대상으로 수집한 자료를 실증분석에 활용하였다. 205명의 설문지가 수집되었지만 불성실한 응답을 한 설문지를 제외하고 총 198부가 분석에 사용되었다. 본 연구를 통해 확인한 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 탐색적 요인분석을 통해 반려동물 온라인 쇼핑몰의 서비스품질요인은 의사소통거래, 안전보안, 디자인, 정보제공의 4개 차원으로 구성됨을 확인할 수 있었다. 둘째, 반려동물 온라인 쇼핑몰 서비스품질요인인 의사소통거래, 정보제공, 디자인, 안전보안은 모두 고객만족에 유의한 정(+)의 영향을 주는 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 반려동물 온라인 쇼핑몰의 고객만족은 충성도에 유의한 정(+)의 영향을 준다는 것을 확인하였다. 넷째, 반려동물 온라인 쇼핑몰의 서비스품질요인들(의사소통거래, 안전보안, 디자인, 정보제공)과 충성도 간의 관계에서 고객만족은 완전매개효과가 있음을 확인하였다.

Currently, many households raise their companion animals for personal reasons. In this environment, the companion animal is left alone in the home, the owner of the companion animal is increasingly curious about the behavior pattern of the companion animal left alone, and there are many devices that can solve this question. In this paper, we have designed and implemented a Bluetooth-based slave device (beacon in this paper) and a router capable of connecting to a broadband network that can observe behavior patterns of companion animals by using advanced ICT technology. The Bluetooth router designed and implemented in this paper installs a beacon in the home, receives the beacon signal from the device and the beacon installed by the companion animal, and transmits the moving line of the companion animal to the owner of the companion animal through the broadband network, so that it can be confirmed in real time through the app for the provided smart phone.

본 연구는 반려동물의 증가로 인한 반려동물 동거가구의 재난증가를 대비하기 위한 가상현실 개발에 대한 연구이다. 저출산·고령화와 함께 나타나는 1인가구와 딩크족의 증가는 특히 반려동물로 인한 재난의 위험성을 높이고 있다. 이러한 재난에는 우선적으로 반려동물 양육에 따른 화재발생 증가가 있다. 화재발생 빈도가 제일 높은 것은 반려동물로 인한 전기레인지 화재이다. 특히 고양이로 인한 전기레인지 화재의 빈도수가 제일 높다. 반려동물로 인한 화재를 줄이기 위해 주인의 주의깊은 예방조치가 필요하다. 반려동물의 양육은 정서적 교류로 인한 펫로스 증후군을 유발한다. 주인의 부주의로 인한 재난으로 에스컬레이터에서의 반려동물의 상해와 엘리베이터에서의 주인의 상해가 있다. 에스컬레이터와 엘리베이터에서의 상해를 줄이기 위해서는 기본적 예절로서 반려동물을 안고 에스컬레이터와 엘리베이터를 이용하는 기본예절이 필요하다. 이러한 반려동물로 인한 재난을 줄이기 위해서 가상현실을 활용할 필요가 있다. 가상현실은 재난을 극복하기 위한 사전 훈련에 있어 물리적 공간이 없어도 체험이 가능하므로 실제 재난사례들을 몰입감 있게 경험할 수 있다. 따라서 반려동물로 인한 화재, 주인의 부주의로 인한 재난, 펫로스 증후군의 감소 방안을 가상현실을 통해 학습하는 것은 재난예방과 사회적 비용 감소에 크게 공헌할 것이다.

반려동물은 인간에게 신체적, 정신적, 사회적으로 유익한 효과를 주고 있어 코로나19(COVID-19)시대를 살아가는 우리에게 큰 위안을 준다. 또한 지금은 4차 산업혁명의 정보통신기술의 융합 시대이기도 하다. 초고령사회를 눈앞에 둔 우리나라는 OECD 국가 중 1위인 자살률은 정서적인 안정에 효과적인 반려동물이 답이 될 수 있다. 본 연구는 65세 이상의 노인들이 20% 이상 되는 초고령사회를 눈앞에 둔 대한민국이 해결해야 할 문제 중 하나인 노인의 정서적 안정에 효과가 큰 반려동물에 관한 연구이다. 반려동물에 대한 양육 지식이 양육 만족도에 미치는 영향을 관리수준과 전염병인식을 통하여 조사하였다. 반려동물의 관리수준은 반려동물의 양육만족도에 매우 유의깊게 (p<0.001) 영향을 미쳤지만, 전염병인식은 통계적인 의미가 없었다 (p>0.05). 반려동물의 양육 지식을 갖고 양육을 하면 양육 만족도는 높아지고, 보다 행복한 삶을 누릴 수 있다. 반려동물에 대한 양육지식은 개인적인 학습도 중요하지만 정책적인 배려로 교육기관을 통한 교육을 뒷받침하는 것 또한 필요할 것으로 사료된다.

We investigated the fecal properties and hemoglobin levels in dogs fed with general canine diets and 7 black soldier fly-based companion canine diets. A total of 16 dogs, including 8 poodles (average weight 2.7±0.5 kg) and 8 bichon frises (average weight 2.0±0.5 kg) were used in this study. The changes in fecal properties of all treatments at 0 weeks and 2 weeks showed no significant differences (p>0.05). However, at 4 weeks, compared to the control group, all black soldier fly-based companion canine diets have an effect on fecal properties (p<0.05). Hemoglobin levels in all treatments were within the normal range. Therefore, feeding black soldier fly-based diets to canines affected the fecal properties and the hemoglobin level was not of clinical concern since it was within the desired reference intervals for healthy canines, indicating that the effect of iron supplementation and anemia prevention was not observed.

코로나 시대에 반려동물은 우리에게 많은 위안을 주고, 가족처럼 반려동물을 여기는 펫팸족이 등장하였다. 그리고 젊은 소비자는 자신에게 소비할 금액을 줄여서 반려동물에게 소비하는 패턴을 보이는 펫푸어도 볼 수 있다. 하지만 이러한 시대적인 변화에도 불구하고 펫푸드를 포함한 반려동물 용품 및 화장품은 여전히 수입 의존도가 높고, 국내의 반려동물 화장품 및 용품에 대한 기준이 설정되어 있지 않아 화장품 안전기준 등에 관한 규정에만 의존하고 있는 실정이다. 또한 국내 반려동물 용품 및 화장품에 관한 용어도 아직 정립되지 않은 상태이다. 현재 국내 법률은 반려동물과 관련한 동물보호법 만이 존재하지만 일본에서는 반려동물 사료안전법이 2009년 6월부터 시행되었고, 미국은 연방식품, 의약품, 화장품 관리법에서 반려동물 화장품 및 용품을 담당하고, 동물보호법이 강력한 독일은 식품 및 사료에 대한 다양한 국가 차원의 법규가 있다. 그리고 식품 안전국 웹 사이트에서도 국가 규정을 정밀하게 확인 가능하다. 따라서 본 연구는 국외의 빠르게 성장하고 안정적인 반려동물 산업처럼 국내에서도 반려 동물 산업을 관리하고 개발을 뒷받침 해주는 국가 정책과 환경 등이 반려동물 용품 및 화장품 그 외 다양한 반려동물 관련 산업을 해외시장으로 수출하는데 기초자료로 반드시 필요할 것으로 사료된다.
