Die design on the Precision Cold Forging of Spur Gear (평기어의 정밀 냉간단조 금형설계)

  • The conventional closed-die forging processes had been applied to forging of the spur gears. But this type process requires high pressure. The commercial finite element analysis code ANSYS for the stress and elastic deformation of non-axisymmetric die was adopted in this study. In the non-axisymmetric die such as gear forging, maximum stresses were imposed on the tip of the gear tooth. When the stress exceeds yield strength of insert die, many approaches were attemped to prevent the die failure. Good shaped products are forged successfully. This type process could by used as an advanced technique to replace conventional hobbing process of gear.

  • The satellite electronic equipment is exposed to high level random vibration environment during the launch of spacecraft. The random vibration can cause damage of electronic equipment. Thus very careful consideration on the launch environment, especially for high level random vibration, is required in the design stage of transponder equipments of communication satellite. For the structural integrity of the communication satellite transponder equipment under qualification level random vibration, Finite Element analysis was carried out using the commercial code, MSC/Nastran and ANSYS and stress levels are presented. In order to validate the femodel, modal test was also performed and compared with numerical results.

Analysis of Free Vibration of a Cylindrical Shell with a Circular Plate Under Various Kinds of Boundary Conditions (다양한 경계조건에서 원판이 결합된 원통 셸의 고유진동 해석)

  • A theoretical formulation for the analysis of free vibration of a cylindrical shell with a circular plate attached at an arbitrary axial position of the shell under various kinds of boundary conditions was derived and programed to get the numerical results for natural frequencies and mode shapes of the combined system. The boundary conditions of the shell to be considered here are clamped-free, clamped-simply supported, both ends clamped and both ends simply supported. The frequencies and mode shapes from theoretical calculation were compared with those of commercial finite element code, ANSYS. The results showed good agreement with those of ANSYS in frequencies and mode shapes. The program will contribute to the design optimization of a shell/plate combined system through the analysis of natural frequencies and mode shapes for the system.

  • The site effects of local geological conditions on seismic ground motion are performed using 2D numerical method. For the analysis, a numerical method far ground response analysis using FE-BE coupling method is developed. The total system is divided into two parts so called far field and near field. The far field is modeled by boundary element formulation using the multi-layered dynamic fundamental solution that satisfied radiational condition of wave. And this is coupled with near field modeled by finite elements. In order to verify the seismic response analysis, the results are compared with those of commercial code. As a result, it is shown that the developed method can be an efficient numerical method to solve the seismic response analysis of the site effect in 2D problem.

  • A GFRP based composite blade was developed for a 2MW wind energy conversion system of type class IIA. The blade sectional geometry was designed to have a general shell-spar and shear web structure. The load cases specified in the IEC61400-1 international specification were considered. For withstanding all relevant extreme loads, the structural analysis for the complete blade was performed using a commercial FEM code. The static load carrying capacity, blade tip deflection and natural frequencies were evaluated to satisfy the strength and stability requirements in accordance with the IEC61400-1 and GL Regulations. The prototype blade was passed the structural proof test for GL certification.

  • In this study, the Rayleigh inextensional theory and extensional theory for thin shells was employed to predict the natural frequencies of the hemi-spherical shell with free and simply. supported boundary condition. The frequencies and mode shapes from theoretical calculation were compared with those of commercial finite element code, ANSYS. In order to validate the theory, modal test was also performed by impact test and FFT analysis. Modal test and FEM analysis of the free, simply supported and clamped boundary condition was also carried out.

  • A process sequence in precison press forming of electronic components is investigated by the finite element method. Aperture, a key component of electronic gun, is formed through a wequence of about 15 operations, among which the beading & bending, the first coining, and the second coining operations are expected to be most critical in view of industrial experts' opinions. Thus, the analysis performed by a commercial code MARC focuses on the three operations, and comparisons are made between the results of the analysis and the measurement of experimental forming of the component, and it appears a sound agreement.

  • In this study, the Rayleigh's energy method and the Rayleigh-Ritz method on the basis of Flugge's shell theory was used to analyze the dynamic characteristics of the scroll compressor housing with clamped boundary condition.   • Finite element models are constructed using the commercial code ANSYS for two most representative types of ultrasonic transducers, cMUTs and piezoelectric transducers. Calculation result shows the origin and level of cross talk between array elements in each transducer type For reduction of the cross talk level, the effects of various structural variations are Investigated for each transducer type. The results say that proper design of the coupling isolation structures between the transducing elements can significantly reduce the cross talk in ultrasonic transducers.

A Study on the Warm Deep Drawabilities of Galvannealed Steel Sheet (합금화 용융 아연 도금강판의 온간 딥드로잉 성형성에 관한 연구)

  • The limiting drawing ratio (LDR) under uniform heating of blanks was measured at the various temperature ranges between 25 and 25$0^{\circ}C$ by using two different blank shapes, square and circular blanks, and six different blank sizes with the drawing ratios(DR) of 2.4 to 2.9. The galvannealed steel sheet (SCP3CM 60/60) of 0.7mm thickness were used. The LDR at warm forming condition reached 1.2 times of that at room temperature, and the maximum drawing depth reached 1.9 times. The higher temperature was adopted, the more stable and uniform thickness strain distribution was observed. Some cases of the experimental results were compared with the analitical results using the commercial finite element method (FEM) code.
