  • In this paper, we propose an SIM/SM system with a square-law combining. In an outdoor environment, the performance of SIM/SM deteriorates due to an atmospheric turbulence. The square-law combining technique can enhance the performance of the SIM/SM by employing square-and-integrate operation at the receiver side. For various spectral efficiencies, the performance gain increases as the number of photodetectors increases. Furthermore, as the turbulence strength increases, the performance gain also increases.

  • It is very difficult to achieve sufficient data rate and required quality of service due to the time-varying nature of the radio channel and various jammers such as path loss, delay, Doppler, shadowing and interference. Especially, the propagation path between the transmitting antenna and the tracking antenna mounted on the fuselage during the test and evaluation of the projectile system considered in this paper is based on the rapid movement of the projectile, the interference due to multipath fading due to the terrain, The propagation path may be blocked. In order to effectively improve the multipath fading occurring in the wireless communication system, a diversity combiner technique is required. In this paper, to derive the design and improvement schemes for the space diversity combiner technique among the diversity combiner schemes, the BER performance of maximum ratio combining (MRC) and selection combining (SC) In an adaptive SC / MRC diversity combiner that operates with MRC when it is lower than the specified threshold criterion when comparing the SNR between two signals received from the channel and operates with SC at high and combines the two received signals The BER performance of the system was compared and analyzed.

  • Let E be a set of n quantitative observations under the time control. The interval of time is to be split into several subintervals such that the observations in each subinterval are almost similar, whereas the observations between the subintervals are very dissimilar. The corresponding time-subintervals become periods or phases of the development that exist in the underlying phenomenon. Aboukalam(2005) proposes a robust solution based on some initial subintervals and a technique for combining any two successive groups in that starter using a t-test under a fixed significant level ($\alpha$). The inconvenience is that; the technique reliability is not released from the level $\alpha$ which must not be defined apart from the number of the periods that is, in its turn, unknown. To avoid this, we propose what so called; most significant periods solution. The new technique constructs its own initial subintervals and uses another way for combining the groups. However, the way of determining and treating outliers has not changed. This paper conducts many empirical simulations using different possible time dominated data in order to illustrate the reliability of the proposed technique. Finally, we apply both techniques on some real time dominated data to explain the advantage of the proposal.

  • Recent developments in combining transportation planning models and input-output approaches, together with inclusion of intensity of land uses, have made it possible to construct realistic comprehensive urban and regional activity models. These modes form the basis for a rigorous approach to studying the interactions among urban activities. However, efficient computational solution methods for implementing such comprehensive models are still not available. In this paper an efficient solution method for the urban activity model is developed by combining Evans' partial linearization technique with Powell's hybrid method. The solution algorithm is applied to a small but realistic urban area with a detailed transportation network.

  • SaaS provides software hosted on the cloud computing in a form of service. Thus, it enables the extension of service functions by combining or reusing the existing software. As an analysis technique, this paper suggests a method of verifying the reusability of a process by analyzing it with the process algebra. The suggested method can confirm the reusability of existing software, ensure the consistency of modifications by tenants or requests, and provide probabilities of combining processes.

  • In this paper, we consider the acquisition performance of an IS-95 reverse link access channel slot as a function of system design parameters such as postdetection integration length and the number of access channel message block repetitons. The uncertainty region of the reverse link spreading codes compared to that of forward link is very small, since the uncertainty region of the reverse link is determined by a cell radius. Thus, the parallel acquisiton technique in the reverse link is more efficient than a serial acquisition technique in terms of implementation and of acquisition time. The parallel acquisition is achieved by a bank of N parallel I/Q noncoherent correlator are analyzed for band-limited noise and the Rayleigh fast fading channel. The detection probability is derived for multiple correct code-phase offsets and multipath fading. The probability of no message error is derived when rake combining, access channel message block combining, and Viterbi decoding are applied. Numerical results provide the acquisition performance for system design parameters such as postdetection integration length and number of access channel message block repetitions in case of a random access on a mobile station.

  • This paper proposes an alternate time-switched space-frequency block coding transmission technique for single-carrier modulation with frequency domain equalization. There are two antennas in the transmitter but it still has only a baseband and RF and a switch that alternates between the antennas at every symbol timing. Alternating transmit symbols result in zeros which make maximal ratio receive combining possible in the receiver. Simulation results show that it has better performance than the traditional algorithm at the expense of one additional antenna.

  • Spectrum sensing is one of the most important functions in cognitive radio systems. In this paper, we focus on reducing the sensing time in a cooperative spectrum sensing paradigm. In the proposed scheme, a sequential detection technique is employed to provide a robust and quick detection system. Each of the secondary users measures the log-likelihood probability of the received signals and then sequentially reports to the base station. Here, the maximum ratio combining (MRC) technique is employed to reduce the average sample number (ASN) in order to reduce the sensing time. This proposed scheme is analyzed and simulated to illustrate the performance in comparison with the other given methods. Analysis and simulation are provided to validate the proposed method.

  • The paper introduces dynamic generation technique of foot trajectories for humanoid robots using CPG(Central Pattern Generator) and proposes adaptive walking method for slope terrains combining a feedback network. The proposed CPG based technique generates the trajectory of foot in the Cartesian coordinates system and it can change the step length adaptively according to the feedback information. To cope with variable slope terrains, the sensory feedback network in the CPG are designed using the geometry relationship between foot position and body center position such that humanoid robot can maintain its stability. To demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed approach, the experiments on humanoid robot Nao are executed in the Webot simulation. The performance and motion features of the CPG based approach are compared and analyzed focusing on the adaptability in slope terrains.

  • A two-stage procedure is proposed to estimate the population proportion of a sensitive group. The proposed procedure is obtained by combining the direct question method and a modified randomized response technique. It is verified that the proposed procedure is more efficient than existing methods under some mild conditions.
