함정전투체계의 적응형 모의사격시뮬레이터 설계 및 구현 (Design and Implementation of Adaptive Naval Gun Fire Simulator on a Naval Combat System)

  • This paper proposes the design and implementation of adaptive naval gun fire simulator on a naval combat system. The proposed simulator can log data, analysis logged data, modify the BCU(Ballistic Computing Unit) S/W in real-time, and evaluate gun fire performance to check it satisfy requirement or not. When the simulation result satisfies the requirement, the BCU S/W is installed on onboard system. The simulation results show that similar result with actual naval gun fire reslult.

  • Indoor noise is very important related to the morale and fighting power of the crew as well as environmental condition for them in a navel vessel. Especially, the crew members working in CIC (combat information center) and sonar equipment room require much more quiet environment condition. One of the most serious noise source in CIC is the cooling fan noise installed in the console of the combat system. Therefore, in this paper, the design of the plenum chamber is studied to reduce the noise of the fan from these consoles by numerical analysis and experiment.

  • For the purpose of launching strikes, initial survivability of self-propelled artilleries is of crucial importance despite the fact that they are mobility weapon systems. This study identifies the combat placement possibility of the reinforced concrete box-type artillery positions, which might enable the replacement of the current igloo-types, in terms of cost and protection capability. In the numerical analysis the obtained numerical values have proved that these facilities have sufficient protection capability. In addition, it could be concluded that these facilities are also cost-competitive, if more than five positions are constructed simultaneously.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to propose a sensor fusion algorithm that integrates vehicle motion sensor(VMS) into the hybrid navigation system. Methods: How to evaluate the navigation performance was comparison test with the hybrid navigation system and the sensor fusion method. Results: The results of this study are as follows. It was found that the effects of the sensor fusion method and α value estimation were significant. Applying these greatly improves the navigation performance. Conclusion: For improving the reliability of navigation system, the sensor fusion method shows that the proposed method improves the navigation performance in a combat vehicle.

A Case Study on The Drone Battle between Azerbaijan and Armenia

  • This study analyzes the combat case involving military drones during the Azerbaijan-Armenian War, which erupted on September 27, 2020. The background of the war revealed that Azerbaijan extensively and aggressively employed offensive drones, which played a decisive role in reshaping the dynamics of the battlefield. Despite Azerbaijan's GDP of $4.639, which corresponds to the level of a developing country, and its 64th rank in global military strength, the country boldly allocated a significant portion of its budget to develop its drone capabilities in preparation for the war. As a result, Azerbaijan effectively utilized offensive drones acquired from Turkey and Israel to neutralize hundreds of tanks, armored vehicles, artillery units, and air defense systems. The purpose of this study is to examine this context and explore how our Korean military organization can enhance its combat capabilities by developing a drone combat system, thereby enabling an effective response posture against multifaceted threats.

전투차량 냉각수 호스 분리현상 개선에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Improvement of the Separation Phenomenon of Coolant Hose in the Tracked Combat Vehicle)

  • In general, tracked combat vehicles require excellent output performance of a power unit system to drive on special terrains and in extreme environmental conditions. However, high temperature and pressure are readily applied to the coolant hose in the power unit of the vehicles during high-speed driving under extreme road and weather conditions. These driving conditions can cause the separation phenomenon of the coolant hose in the power unit and consequentially engine overheating during driving. Therefore, a newly designed decompression device for the coolant hose has been proposed and manufactured to solve these problems in the present study. To validate of the newly proposed decompression device, the input and output pressures were measured under the before- and after-improvement conditions using experimental methods for different engine RPMs. In addition, the pre-heater temperature was measured under both conditions. From the experimental results, we expect that the current investigation can help to improve the driving performance of tracked combat vehicles.

육군 전술C4I체계 지원을 위한 전문가시스템 프레임워크 구축 사례 연구 (A Case Study on Expert System Framework for Supporting Army Tactical C4I System)

  • 본 연구 논문은 육군 전술C4I체계 지원을 위한 전문가시스템 프레임워크를 제시하기 위한 것이다. 한국 육군은 사단급 이상 부대의 전투상황실에서 수작업으로 실시하던 전장정보분석 업무를 지원하기위해 일명 "상황위협평가전문가시스템(STAFS)"개발을 실시한 바 있다. 그러나 기 개발된 STAFS는 종합적인 전투상황실 운영 개념에 부합하는 의사결정체계 구조에 맞추어 개발된 것이 아니고 전술지휘본부 내 임무 중 극히 일부분인 정보융합분석만을 위한 시스템으로 개발되어 실 업무 활용에 많은 제한을 가져 왔다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 이러한 제한점을 개선하여 전투상황실 업무를 종합적으로 지원하는 전문가시스템 프레임워크를 정립하여 지휘관의 의사결정을 지원하기 위한 전문가시스템 개발 구조를 제시하였다.

함정전투체계 표적 색인을 위한 TPR-Tree 상향식 갱신 기법 (A Study on Bottom-Up Update of TPR-Tree for Target Indexing in Naval Combat Systems)

  • In modern warfare, securing time for preemptive response is recognized as an important factor of victory. The naval combat system, the core of naval forces, also strives to increase the effectiveness of engagement by improving its real-time information processing capabilities. As part of that, it is considered to use the TPR-tree in the naval combat system's target indexing because spatio-temporal searches can be performed quickly even as the number of target information increases. However, because the TPR-tree is slow to process updates, there is a limitation to handling frequent updates. In this paper, we present a method for improving the update performance of TPR-tree by applying the bottom-up update scheme, previously proposed for R-tree, to the TPR-tree. In particular, we analyze the causes of overlaps occurring when applying the bottom-up updates and propose ways to limit the MBR expansion to solve it. Our experimental results show that the proposed technique improves the update performance of TPR-tree from 3.5 times to 12 times while maintaining search performance.

A Study on the Standardization of System Support Software in the Combat Management System

  • 체계지원 소프트웨어는 함정 전투관리체계를 구성하는 소프트웨어 중의 하나로 모든 함정의 전투관리체계에 탑재되지만 기능 변경이 거의 일어나지 않는 특성을 가진다. 하지만, 이러한 특성에도 실제로는 신규함정 적용 시 장비 변경 등으로 인한 소프트웨어 수정이 불가피하게 이루어진다. 이러한 소프트웨어의 수정은 소프트웨어 신뢰성 시험 등의 작업을 초래하며, 개발 비용 증가의 핵심요인으로 작용한다. 본 논문에서는 기존 체계지원 소프트웨어의 구조를 분석하여 이를 보완할 수 있는 체계지원 표준화 아키텍처를 설계하였다. 휘처 모델(Feature Model)을 통해 체계지원 소프트웨어의 공통요소와 가변요소를 도출하고, 화이트 박스 재사용(White-Box Reuse)을 적용하여 소프트웨어 설계를 개선하였다. 또한, 기존 체계지원 소프트웨어와 개발 요소 및 신뢰성 시험 수행 시간을 비교하여 새로운 아키텍처의 효과성을 검증한 결과를 제시하였다.

  • 해군 전투력의 핵심이라고 할 수 있는 함정전투체계(통칭 CMS)는 1993년 국산화에 성공한 이후 다방면에서 꾸준한 발전을 이루어왔다. 반면 CMS 소프트웨어는 컴퓨팅 시스템 환경이 비약적으로 발전해 왔음에도 불구하고 방위산업의 구조적인 특성 때문에 기술 및 구조적 발전이 미비했다. 따라서 CMS 소프트웨어 개발의 새로운 패러다임의 필요성이 대두되었다. 본 논문에서는 진보된 프로그래밍 패러다임인 객체지향 프로그래밍과 그 설계 원칙인 SOLID를 준수하는 함정전투체계 표준 연동 아키텍처로서 Naval Shield Component Platform(NSCP)를 제시하고 각 컴포넌트들의 구조와 기능 및 특징을 소개한다. 더 나아가 이를 통해 CMS 소프트웨어 개발에 있어 높은 재사용성, 동시성 그리고 유지보수성을 기대한다. 향후연구로 NSCP를 차기 CMS 소프트웨어 개발 프로젝트에 시범 적용하고 정량적, 정성적 평가를 통해 NSCP의 효용성을 평가할 예정이다.
