The rainbow has been considered as a perfect representative of color harmony in nature. In this study rainbow's colors include seven spectral colors and changeable colors according to observational angle. This study performed a bibliographical inquiry into rainbow colors and the survey research for classification of rainbow color images in fashion design. First, a bibliographical inquiry includes the definition of rainbow colors, physical formation principles of the rainbow, and its aesthetical attributes and symbolism. Second, this survey classifies rainbow color images in fashion design. The results of this study are as follows: 1. The rainbow was the religious and symbolic object before 17th century, and after that period, the rainbow became an aesthetical object. The main symbolic meanings are similar in eastern and western culture: temporary bridge between two world, divine nature, hope/beauty/richness, war/ death/flood/drought. 2. This survey shows that 6 main factors of rainbow color images in fashion design are 'vigorous', 'colorful'. 'fairy', 'fresh', 'mysterious', 'brilliant'. Rainbow color image in fashion design shows past and futuristic image at the same time. The purpose of this study is to systematized the images theoretical bases which are applied to color expression and of rainbow colors and to find out the development about rainbow theme by designers.

This study investigated the characteristics of the establishment of an architectural guideline which is an important element of a urbanscape plan in basic landscape plans established by four local governments(a county level) in Jeollanam-do since the enactment of the landscape law. The results were as follows. The guideline for landscape plan elements was closely associated with shapes, materials, harmony, and coherence. For the detailed guideline for landscape plan elements, an architectural guideline on the arrangement, height, facade, and roof shapes of buildings, which is one of important elements related to urbanscape, was similar in local governments, showing a standard and uniform tendency. It indicates the limitation of forming urbanscape to enhance local identity and unique features and complementary contents are needed. The color guideline was classified into base color, sub color, and accent color in consideration of local features. In particular, natural material color was commonly used for base and sub color in all local governments. Therefore, it is necessary to develop unique material color and distinctive local color for each region.

We developed the decision support system by using the fuzzy theory. This system designs harmonious color space according to the linguistic input. This input represents the atmosphere which the user want. If the linguistic input of adjective image scale is given in the developed system, the relation between the adjective and color is supposed as fuzzy relation. The color which match with the whole atmosphere of color space is selected. The search region of harmonious color decision is controlled by the knowledge on color harmony of Moon-Spencer. Harmonious color is selected by it.

Pro-environmental life styles, foundations of a collective civilization and preservation of our tradition at rural communities hold a great public profit value, of which importance has been strongly emphasized during last decade. Here, the environmental color is one of the most influential elements that determine the image of the rural landscape. Whenever an alternative color element is introduced to rural town, it is very important to examine its effect on the existing environmental color. Typically, a preference-surveying method has been used to evaluate the suitability of such environmental color balance. However, we note that the reliability of this method is limited by the subjectivity of a respondent. And thus, it is highly desirable to develop a more objective method. We propose a feasibility study for using an aesthetic-measure to evaluate the environmental color of a rural town. In this work, we looked into the validity of our approach by comparing its result with that of the preference-based-method as a way to determine the environmental color. Our study is based on 20 photo images from Ansung-city Yangsung-myeon Donghang 2ri Kyo-dong town in Kyongki Province.

The purpose of this study is to fond out the characteristics of color perception and preferred color scheme of the aged who becomes color weak due to yellowed eye sight. For this, this study was composed of two steps. First, an experimental simulation on aged vision using Spectrophotometer(CM-2600d, Minolta) attached Y-2 filter as a quasi lenses of the aged eye. The color data of 120 color chips of the aged vision was measured and analyzed to grasp the characteristics of color perception of the age. Then, a questionnaire survey was carried out with color chips and 8 interior color schemes. They participated in a questionnaire survey of the level of identification among the color chips of 11 tones of R, G, PB, as well as a survey of the preference color schemes. The result of this study are as follow; 1) The range of color perception on hue narrowed into YR, Y, GY, G. Especially, the aged have failed perception of B${\cdot}$PB${\cdot}$P${\cdot}$RP(short wave length of light) by yellowed eye sight. 2) The level of identification among the color chips of 11 tones of R,G,PB are different by each color. But Very Pale, Pale, Strong, Vivid are fractionated similarly in almost color. 3) In the preference of interior color scheme of the aged, preference color harmony scheme Is the complementary color scheme that is easy for identification, rather than analogous color scheme. The preferred dominant color is warm color rather than cool color.

I observed the meaning and the symbolic charaeters about the color and style of clothes appearing at "GER GA JAP BOK GO" written by Kyu Soo Park. The black color of Hyun Eui as a ceremonial dress of man symbolizes Heaven and Virtue. The yellow color of Whang Sang as a ceremonial dress of man symbolizes the Earth and the Impartiality. The blue or black decoration line over white ground of Sim Eui as ordinary dress of man symbolizes also Filial Piety. In woman ordinary upper garment, So Eui, black texture edging with blue line implies the mutual symmetricity with her husband's. Besides, white color texture lining So Eui symbolical to a Devine Nature and Homage implies also the deep concealment of feminine body. The black ground color of child dress "Chi Po Eui" symbolizes Naivety, and the red silk color of it's decoration line, belt and tress ornaments implies the praise of the Virtue & Learning and also "Expel the Evil" of our traditional national characteristics. As described above the meaning and symbolic characters about the color and style of clothes appearing at "GER GA JAP BOK GO" has a very Chinese disposition, but it's author Kyu Soo Park modified somewhat to be in harmony with the real social situation of our Country during that latest stage of Yi Dynasty, because he was one of the prominent pragmatist at that time.

The purpose of this study is to suggest the prediction model for the color design by the image types in the office interior. This prediction model of the color design is for the more comfortable environment by using suitable, various colors fitted with business functions. In this research, we carried out the evaluation experiment with the variables such as the color on ceiling, wall, floor and the harmonies of color schemes. We set the prediction index through the multi-regression analysis. And the prediction model was made by these results. The design methods by the prediction model are as follows. 1) The $\ulcorner$variable$\lrcorner$ image was deeply influenced by the value and chroma and it was marked high in low value and high chroma and the harmonies of contrast and different color. 2) The $\ulcorner$comfortable$\lrcorner$ image was related to the value and chroma and it was marked high in high value and low chroma and harmonies of homogeneity and similar. 3) The $\ulcorner$warm$\lrcorner$ image was greatly influenced by the hue and the harmony of color schemes, and it was marked high in the warm colors and harmonies of homogeneity.

Public uniforms play an important role in creating the color and image of urban environment beyond the level of simple working clothes for unity and practicality. Hence this study aims to compare and analyze the color characteristics and images of the police officer, fire fighter, and street cleaner uniforms at home and abroad to guarantee the wearer's safety, increase convenience and agreeability, and give emotional satisfaction to citizens in harmony with urban environment color as public uniforms. For study methods, literature review investigated urban environment, color, and uniforms as public design. Empirical study extracted color data from the public worker uniforms of the world's top 20 cities selected by 'Newsweek' in 2010 and analyzed their colors, tones, and color images. The results of this study are as follows. The most common color for police uniforms were PB(dk) as the main color, PB(p) as the sub color, and Wh as the accent color. For fire fighter uniforms, PB(dkg) was the most common main color; GY(v), as the sub color; and ItGy, as the accent color. The most common color for street cleaner uniforms was YR(v) as the main color; GY(v), as the sub color; and mGy, as the accent color. As a result of analyzing color images of these uniforms, it was found that police uniforms commonly used a modern image; fire fighter uniforms commonly used a natural image and a cool casual image; and street cleaner uniforms commonly used a casual image. As examined above, the color of public uniforms suitable for urban environment and job characteristics is very important to establish the image of public institutions, as well as to create an urban image.

The purpose of this study was to investigate compostion factor and special qualities of design about Korean clothing image. The 72 samples were obtained from domestic fashion magazines. The questionnaire, which was composed 23 semantic diffrential bi-polar scales, was distributed to 50 female students majoring in Clothing and Textiles. The data were analyzed through factor analysis, anova, scheffe's test, clust analysis. The results were as follows; 1) Through factor analysis about Korean clothing image, 5 factors were identified; elegance, simplicity, femininity, tradition, looseness. 2) By cluster analysis, 3 clusters were determined according to Korean clothing image. Special qualities of design about Korean clothing image showed that there were lots of H silhouette in clothing form, related harmony in color harmony, somewhat rough and crude in texture and simple design in decoration. Top was more or less fit and bottom was found somewhat exaggerated tendency in fitness. 3) As a result of the visual evaluation about Korean clothing image, there were significant differences in all factors.

This study was aimed at analyzing how the dualism of hippie style in the modern retro-fashion, namely, the neo hippie style and the hippie chic style were expressed. For this study, domestic & foreign fashion magazines, preceding theses, literatures, an encyclopedia, and Internet sites were reviewed. The results of this study could be summarized as follows; 1. Silhouette : The neo hippie style was expressed in slim and long silhouette to show the natural beauty. The hippie chic style was expressed in various silhouettes depending on designer's tastes. 2. Color : The neo hippie style was expressed in strong color and analogous color coordination to show richness of human nature. The hippie chic style was expressed in psychedelic color, multi-color, and fluorescent color to show an unconventional and a future oriented idea. 3. Material . The neo hippie style used such soft, thin, and flexible materials as chiffon, satin, silk, knit, etc. to show the natural beauty The hippie chic style used expensive and luxurious materials, high-technological materials, harmony of different materials, etc. 4. Pattern . In the neo hippie style, it was generally used various patterns including plant, animal, insect. In the hippie chic style, it was widely used the natural pattern as well as the ethnic pattern. The neo hippie style was characterized by the natural beauty, purity, elegance as style symbolizing the social problem, on the other hand, the hippie chic style was characterized by designer's identity suggesting an idea of new style rather than a symbol of the social problem.
