On Presentable Approximation for Nonlinear Noise

  • This is an extension of results of Wiener's nonlinear noise theory from noises generated by the Wiener process to noises generated by processes with stationary Gaussian increments. In particular, using Nisio's Approach, we show that every measurable ergodic noise can be approximated in law by Gaussian process-presentable noise.

Student Teachers and Beginning Teachers' Understandings of Scientific Inquiry

  • This study examined the knowledge and practices of scientific inquiry displayed by three student teachers and two beginning teachers at secondary levels. Observations using the instrument of OTOP designed by the research team of OCEPT (Oregon Collaborative for Excellent in the Preparation of Teachers) generalized similar teaching strategies of scientific inquiry between student and beginning teachers, such as using group work for students' first hand experience, using concrete materials for experimentation or visual tools for demonstration, using questions for factual knowledge mainly without opportunities to understand how scientific knowledge is constructed. Those scientific inquiry activities were very confirmative ones to follow the steps without opportunities of understanding nature of science or nature of scientific inquiry. However, all participants in this study hold knowledge of scientific inquiry envisioned by the National Science Education Standards [NSES] (NRC, 1996), where students identify their hypothesis, use critical and logical thinking, and consider alternative explanations through argumentation as well as experimentation. An inconsistent relationship between participating teachers knowledge and practices about scientific inquiry resulted from their lack of pedagogy skills of implementing it in the classroom. Providing opportunities for these teachers to reflect on their beliefs and practices about scientific inquiry was recommended for the future study. Furthermore, increasing college faculty interest in new teaching approaches for upgrading the content knowledge of student teachers and beginning teachers was recommended as a solution, since those teachers showed evidence of influence by college faculties at universities in their pedagogy skills.

잠재집단분석(LCA)에 의한 수학교사와 학생들의 신념유형 분석 (Analysis of Belief Types in Mathematics Teachers and their Students by Latent Class Analysis)

  • 본 연구는 수학과 관련된 수학교사와 학생들의 신념을 잠재집단분석(Latent Class Analysis; LCA)을 이용하여 분석하였다. '수학의 본질', '수학의 교수', '수학적 능력'에 대한 고등학교 수학교사 60명의 설문과 '수학교과', '수학문제해결', '수학학습', '자아개념'에 대한 고등학생 1850명의 설문에 대해 유사한 응답을 한 교사와 학생을 각각 소집단으로 분류하고, 그 신념특성을 분석하며 신념프로파일을 작성하였다. 관찰결과, 수학교사들은 '수학의 본질'에 대해 3개, '수학의 교수'와 '수학적 능력'에 대해서는 각각 2개의 신념소집단으로 분류되었다. 또한, 학생들은 '자아개념'에 대해 3개, '수학교과', '수학문제해결', '수학학습'에 대해서는 각각 2개의 신념소집단으로 분류되었다. 이 연구에서 사용된 잠재집단분석은 수학적 신념을 귀납적으로 범주화하는 새로운 방법으로, 교사와 학생의 신념의 상관관계 및 인과관계를 통계적으로 분석하는데 기초가 될 수 있다.

R-HOMOMORPHISMS AND R-HOMOGENEODS MAPS

  • In this paper, all rings and all near-rings R are associative, all modules are right R-modules. For a near-ring R, we consider representations of R as R-groups. We start with a study of AGR rings and their properties. Next, for any right R-module M, we define a new concept GM module and investigate the commutative property of faithful GM modules and some characterizations of GM modules. Similarly, for any near-ring R, we introduce an R-group with MR-property and some properties of MR groups.

  • Niebergall and Ryan posed many open problems on real hypersurfaces in complex space forms. One of them is "Are there any Ricci-parallel real hypersurfaces in complex projective space $P_2C$ or complex hyperbolic space $H_2C$\ulcorner" The purpose of present paper is to prove the nonexistence of such hypersurfaces.

NEAR-RINGS WITH LEFT BAER LIKE CONDITIONS

  • Kaplansky introduced the Baer rings as rings in which every left (or right) annihilator of each subset is generated by an idempotent. On the other hand, Hattori introduced the left (resp. right) P.P. rings as rings in which every principal left (resp. right) ideal is projective. The purpose of this paper is to introduce the near-rings with Baer like condition and near-rings with P.P. like condition which are somewhat different from ring case, and to extend the results of Arendariz and Jondrup.
