간호대학생의 전염병 팬데믹 경험: COVID-19 비확진자 대상으로 (Pandemic Experience of Infectious Diseases of Nursing Students: Targeting non-confirmed COVID-19)

  • 연구 목적: 본 연구는 COVID-19 비확진 간호대학생의 전염병 팬데믹 경험의 본질을 확인하기 위해 시행되었다. 연구 방법 : 2020년 4월 14일부터 2020년 4월 23일까지 간호대학생 8명을 대상으로 개별적인 심층 인터뷰를 통해 자료를 수집하고 Colaizzi의 현상학적 분석 방법론을 활용하여 자료를 분석하였다. 연구 결과 : 간호대학생의 전염병 팬데믹 경험을 통해 '걱정을 담고 있는 일상의 연속', 'COVID-19에 빼앗긴 일상 속 투쟁', '두려움과 기대심리에서의 갈등', '외로움과의 싸움', '변경된 수업운영 방침에 대한 혼란과 적응', '새로운 국면을 맞이하는 대처능력의 향상' 및 '성장의 발판'의 총 7가지 범주가 나타났다. 결론 : 간호대학생은 팬데믹 상황속에서 심리사회적으로 어려움을 겪었으나, 적응하며 긍정의 방향으로 이끌었다. 진로정체성을 점검해 보는 시간을 갖을 수 있는 계기로 삶고, 자신의 삶을 보완하려고 노력하였다. 추후 자가격리를 경험한 간호대학생의 경험과 COVID-19 장기화 상황에서의 간호대학생의 경험의 본질에 대한 연구를 제안한다.

회복실 남자간호사의 임상 적응 경험에 관한 현상학적 방법론의 융합적 접근 (Convergent Approach of Phenomenological Methodology about Male Nurses' Adaptative Experience at PACU)

  • 연구의 목적은 회복실 남자간호사의 간호현장에서 체험한 경험의 의미와 본질을 이해하기 위함이다. 자료수집 기간은 2020년 05월부터 2021년 05월까지였으며 종합병원 회복실에 근무하는 남자간호사 6명을 대상으로 자료가 포화상태에 이를 때까지 심층면담을 시행하였다. 자료 분석은 Colaizzi의 현상학적 연구방법에 따라 분석하였고, 분석결과 4개의 범주, 9개의 주제모음, 21개의 주제를 도출하였다. 도출된 범주는 '간호의 길에 들어섬', '현실의 장벽에 부딪침', '살아남기 위한 안간힘', '부서에서의 자리매김'으로 구조화 되었다. 본 연구를 통하여 회복실 남자간호사들의 임상적응에 영향을 주는 요인을 규명하고, 실무 현장에서 이들이 적응하고 성장할 수 있는 방법에 대한 모색이 필요하다는 것을 알 수 있다.

간호대학생의 임상실습 시 의사소통 경험에 대한 현상학적 연구 (A Phenomenological Study on the Experiences of Nursing Students' Communication in Clinical Nursing Practicum)

  • Background: Unlike traditional quantitative study, this qualitative study is designed to understand and explore the experiences of nursing students's communication in clinical nursing practicum. Methods: Participants were 15 nursing students from a university in Seoul who were selected by purposive sampling. They had been participated in clinical nursing practicum more than one semester. Data were collected through in-depth interviews and observation from May 29, 2017 to June 8, 2017. Collected data were analyzed by Colaizzi's phenomenological methodology. Results: As a result, 5 theme clusters were derived as follows: 1) the modeling of communication, 2) treatment as a student nurse, 3) respect as a nurse, 4) trauma after communication, and 5) sympathy in communication. This study identified the desire for nursing professionalism, psychological difficulties as negative emotionality, as well as positive emotionality of nursing students in clinical practicum. Conclusion: We should consider a nursing curriculum to prepare and improve the communication of nursing students before participating in clinical practicum. The concrete and systematic communication education would be useful for nursing students to participate clinical practicum effectively.

간호사의 환자안전사고 유발경험에 대한 현상학적 연구 (A Phenomenological Study on Nurses' Experiences of Accidents in Patient Safety)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to describe nurses' experiences of accidents in patient safety. Methods: Data were collected from October 8, 2011 to January 31, 2012 through in-depth interviews with seven nurses who had worked on wards or in the ICU in a university hospital. Data were analyzed by applying Colaizzi's phenomenological methodology. Results: The following six categories were extracted: Fear of the patient's condition caused by the accident, Conflict in the accident report, Blame on others and circumstances, Feeling guilty and sorry as the patient's condition is improving, Being disappointed with the unfavorable atmosphere in dealing with the accident, After the accident, being sensitive in performing nursing duties and being faithful to the principles. Conclusion: The results indicate that the organizational culture in the hospital related to accidents in patient safety is still closed and punitive, and such an atmosphere causes nurses to feel seriously hurt, but through this experience nurses are likely to mature as nursing professionals. Programs on prevention of accidents in patient safety and a system to guard against these accidents should be established. Also the organizational safety culture should be improved.

병원 내 간호사의 언어폭력 경험에 관한 연구 (Nurses's Experience of Verbal Violence in Hospital Setting)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this phenomenological research was to identify nurses's experience of verbal violence from doctor in hospital setting. Methods: The participants of this study were twelve nurses who work at a hospital in Chungbuk. Data was collected through documents, observation, and tape-recorded in-depth interview individually from participants. It was analyzed using the phenomenological methodology by Colaizzi. Results: From significant statements, seven categories were identified as follows: Lowering self-esteem due to authoritative and insulting remarks, Getting angry and being disagreeable due to blunt remarks, Being disgraceful due to broad jokes sexually, Hoping to escape present due to skepticism in their job, Being estranged due to bad feeling, Expressing their anger, and Using various way for improvement of relationship. Conclusion: Nurses's experience of verbal violence was showed nurse-doctor relationship was still vertical, not collaborative and supportive. This vertical relationship would cause conflicts between doctor and nurse. Therefore it is need doctor to be changed the mind that nurse is a professional, and to come up with the plan for enhancing inter-collaborative relationship in order to solve conflict between them.

간호대학생의 학습포트폴리오 활용 경험 (Experiences on Application of Learning Portfolio in Nursing Students)

  • Purpose: This study verifies the meaning on application experiences of learning portfolio in nursing students. Method: Participants of this study included 22 nursing students divided into 3 focus groups who had experienced on application of Learning Portfolio in university Y and university S in Kyungpook and Daegu, respectively. Data were collected from December 2013 to January 2014 through in-depth, recorded focus group interviews and subsequently analyzed via Colaizzi's (1978) phenomenological methodology. Results: The essential theme of this study is 'Finding a vision from confusion and suffering.' From 35 significant statements, 5 theme clusters, 16 themes and 32 sub themes were extracted from the essential meaning of the practical use of nursing student experiences. The five theme clusters were: Being a learning guide, Being a medium for communication, Providing an opportunity for inner growth, Difficulties about new learning, and Would like to no more in a better way. Conclusion: The results of this study contribute to providing direction to the formation of learning portfolios, which in turn enable nursing student to develop competency in self-directed learning. These findings indicate that an outcome-based nursing curriculum needs to consider the importance for nursing student's effective application of leaning portfolio.

국내 베트남 결혼이주여성의 모성갈등 (Maternal Conflicts of Vietnamese Married Immigrant Women in Korea)

  • Purpose: The purpose of the study was to identify and explain the essences and structures of maternal conflicts in Vietnamese married immigrant women in Korea. Methods: A phenomenological methodology was used for the study. Eleven Vietnamese married immigrant women participated in the study. Verbatim transcripts were analyzed using Colaizzi's method. Results: Four categories, 10 clusters and 26 themes emerged from the data for the experience in maternal conflicts of Vietnamese married immigrant women. The four categories were 'An unprepared young motherhood in another culture', 'Feeling left out of the mother's place along the bands of Nap tai tradition', 'My image is like not-being able to stand alone/be independent' and 'Finding hope in motherhood despite of conflicts and stigmas'. Conclusion: Vietnamese married immigrant women experienced not only the negative aspects but also sublimation of maternal conflicts. Based on the results, health professionals need to develop effective nursing interventions toward a positive maternal identity and approach with interculturalism for the Vietnamese married immigrant women in Korea.

정신 장애인의 낙인(stigma) 경험 (The Lived Experience of Stigma among Mentally Ill Persons)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to explore the subjective experiences of stigma among mentally ill persons. Methods: Phenomenological methodology was used for the study. Participants were twelve people with mental illness enrolled at the S community mental health center in GyeongGi-Do. Data were collected via in-depth interviews from August 30 to October 1, 2010 and analyzed using Colaizzi's framework. Results: Four themes and sixteen formulated meanings were identified for the stigma experiences of participants with mental illness. The four themes were 'Incapable of struggling against unfair treatment', 'Living as an outsider', 'Being constrained by oneself', 'Being in suspense over disclosure of oneself'. Conclusion: The results from this study underscore the need for an educational and awareness programs to reduce public stigma among the general population and self-stigma among people with mental illness. In addition, efforts are also needed to prioritize mental illness stigma as a major public health issue at the government and community level.

한국 성소수자의 성⋅생식건강의 경험 (Experiences and Problems of Sexual and Reproductive Health among Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer or Questioning, and Intersex (LGBTQI) People in Korea)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to understand the experiences and problems of sexual and reproductive health among Korean lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer or questioning, and intersex (LGBTQI) people. Methods: Phenomenological methodology was employed in this study, which comprised 14 LGBTQ participants. Data were collected using individual in-depth interviews from May to June, 2021, and were analyzed using Colaizzi's method. Results: Four categories-comprising nine theme clusters-emerged from the data, as follows: 1) hard-to-recognize gender identity, 2) blind spots in the healthcare system, 3) empathy and support in the community, and 4) new challenges to protect my precious self. Conclusion: This study provides valuable and detailed insights into the meaning of sex and reproductive health among Korean LGBTQI people. This finding could be utilized to develop effective questions for understanding not only sexual and reproductive health but also overall health problems of LGBTQI people.

한국 사회에서 동성애자의 삶 (Life of Homosexuals in Korea)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to understand the nature of life among homosexuals in Korea. Method: Phenomenological methodology was used for the study. From February 2015 to January 2016, data were collected from 8 homosexuals through in-depth interviews and analyzed using Colaizzi's framework. Result: Five theme clusters and fourteen themes were identified for the life experiences of homosexuals. The five theme clusters were 'alien in an intolerant society', 'a fateful gender that can't be denied', 'process of coming out', 'endure as a homosexual', and 'future perspectives where expectation and anxiety coexist'. Conclusion: This study provides deep insight into the experience of homosexuals's lives in changing society and culture of Korea. Nursing practices should be improved for supportive attitudes.
