대향류 예혼합 난류 연소 유동에서의 Coherent Flamelet Model 적용 및 검증에 관한 연구 (A Study on Application and Validation of the Coherent Flamelet Model in Counterflow Turbulent Premixed Combustion)

  • The coherent flamelet model(CFM) is applied to symmetric counterflow turbulent premixed flames. The flame source term is set proportional to the turbulence intensity to reproduce the experimental correlation of Abdel-Gayed et al. for the turbulent burning velocity. Flame quenching by the turbulent rate of strain is modeled by an additional multiplication factor to the flame source term. A modified form of CFM is employed to consider coexistence of burned and unburned premixture with ambient air. The predicted flame position and turbulent flow field coincide well with the experimental data of Kostiuk et al., although there is some discrepancy in the radial rms velocity component and integral length scale near the symmetric plane.

Enhancement in quantum noise correlation between the two outputs of a nondegenerate optical amplifier with a non-vacuum state idler input

  • The theoretical limit of the noise correlation between the signal and idler outputs of a nondegenerate optical parametric amplifier (NOPA) with a coherent state signal and vacuum state idler input can be enhanced if a non-vacuum coherent state idler input is employed. By choosing a balanced signal and idler input, the noise correlation is $1/{({\root}g + {\root}{g-1})}^2$, where g is the intensity gain of the NOPA, and that is superior to the prediced outputs with single signal input by approximately 3dB. The result is applicable to all the schemes that use the NOPA to produce a sub-shot noise light generation such as feed-back or feed-forward control.

  • 간섭신호가 원하는 신호에 coherent한 경우에는 원하는 신호와 간섭신호간의 cross correlation에 의해 공분산 행렬의 rank가 줄어들게 되어 coherent한 간섭신호의 도래각을 추정할 수 없게 된다. 이러한 문제를 해결하기 위해 발표된 기존의 방법중 대칭 어레이(Symmetric array)방법은 계산량이 많아지고 공간 스무딩(Spatial Smoothing)방법은 array aperture size에서 손해를 보게 되어 분해능이 떨어지는 단점이 있다[1,2,3].

Vector and Scalar Modes in Coherent Mode Representation of Electromagnetic Beams

  • It is shown that the two mode representations, one with vector modes and the other with scalar modes, for the cross spectral density matrices of electromagnetic beams are equivalent to each other. In particular, we suggest a method to find the vector modes from the scalar modes and formulate the cross spectral density matrix as a correlation matrix.

열대 해양의 해수면온도와 구름의 상호관계 (Interrelationships between Sea Surface Temperatures and Clouds over the Tropical Oceans)

  • The intra-annual and interannual variations of total, high, middle, low clouds, and cloud forcing net solar radiation flux, cloud forcing net long-wave radiation flux, and SSTs over the tropical oceans are investigated with the use of ISCP D2, NCEP/NCAR Reanalysis for January 1983-December 1993. The intra-annual variation of total cloudiness is dominated by high and middle clouds in the western Pacific and central tropical oceans, the interannual variation of total cloudiness is also dominated by high and middle clouds in the central Pacific and Atlantic. The dominant intra-annual and interannual EOFs of total cloudiness have spatially coherent link with those SSTs. For the interannual EOFs, total cloudiness and SSTs are related to E1 nino-Southern Oscillation(ENSO). The second most important intra-annual EOFs of total cloudiness are related to Inter Tropical Convergence Zone(ITCZ). The third most important intra-annual EOFs show coherent relation in the western Pacific. The correlation analysis between cloud radiative effects and SSTs show spatially coherent relation over the tropical oceans even though cloud forcing cooling effect is much higher than heating effect.

Partial Matched Filter for Low Power and Fast Code Acquisition of DSSS-CPFSK Signals

  • A partial matched filter (PMF) for semi-coherent correlation code acquisition of the DSSS-CPFSK signal is proposed. It is a calculation-reduced structure of the hard-limited signal based FIR filter, yet its code acquisition time is equal to that of the hard-limited signal based FIR filter. The PMF eliminates duplicate calculations by utilizing the characteristic that the hard-limited DSSS-CPFSK signal has same value in several consecutive samples. For example, the PMF can achieve about 95% reduction in gate size, as compared to the hard-limited signal based FIR filter, when the modulation index of the DSSS-CPFSK signal is equal to 1.5 and the sample rate is equal to 40 sample/chip.

  • 지면에 가까이 있는 비행체나 수면에 가까이 있는 수중 운동체에서 도래하는 신호는 직접파와 반사파로 구성되어 있다. 그런 환경에서는 반사파가 직접파와 coherent한 관계를 갖는다. 이런 현상으로 해서 DOA추정을 위해 추정한 correlation 행렬이 singular한 성질을 갖게 된다. 이렇게 singular한 행렬은 DOA추정에 큰 오류를 내게 된다. 또 움직이는 대상의 경우 추정 correlation 행렬의 성질이 시간에 따라 변하게 된다. 본 논문에서는 위 두 상황을 함께 해결하기 위해서 PASTd알고리즘을 변형하여 Forward/Backward Variable forgetting factor를 도입한 PASTd알고리즘을 제안한다.

다중 SOP 환경하에서 IR-UWB 기반의 Non-coherent TOA 추정 기법 (Non-coherent TOA Estimation Method based on IR-UWB in Multiple SOP Environments)

  • 본 논문에서는 다수의 피코넷들이 공존 (Simultaneously Operating Piconets; SOP) 하는 환경하에서 다중 상관처리를 이용한 새로운 Non-coherent TOA 추정 기법을 제안한다. SOP 환경에서 각 피코넷들을 구분하기 위해서 Gold 시퀀스를 이용한 DSSS (Direct Sequence Spread Spectrum) 기반의 IR-UWB (Impulse Radio-Ultra WideBand) 신호를 사용하였으며 상관 특성을 개선시키기 위해서 다중 마스트 처리 (Multiple Mask Operation; MMO) 방안을 제시하였다. 직접 LOS 경로에 대한 도착 시간 (Time Of Arrival; TOA) 정보는 2단계의 대략적인(Coarse)/ 정밀 (Fine) 타이밍 검출 과정을 통해 획득된다. 제안된 기법에 대한 성능을 검증하기 위해서 IEEE 802.15.4a TG (Task Group)에서 제시한 두 채널 모델을 적용하였고 시뮬레이션 결과로부터 제안된 기법이 다수개의 피코넷이 공존하는 다중 경로 환경에서 일반적인 단일 상관 처리 기법보다 성능이 개선됨을 확인하였다.

Performance of Continuous-wave Coherent Doppler Lidar for Wind Measurement

  • A system for continuous-wave coherent Doppler lidar (CW lidar), made up of all-fiber structures and a coaxial transmission telescope, was set up for wind measurement in Hefei (31.84 N, 117.27 E), Anhui province of China. The lidar uses a fiber laser as a light source at a wavelength of $1.55{\mu}m$, and focuses the laser beam on a location 80 m away from the telescope. Using the CW lidar, radial wind measurement was carried out. Subsequently, the spectra of the atmospheric backscattered signal were analyzed. We tested the noise and obtained the lower limit of wind velocity as 0.721 m/s, through the Rayleigh criterion. According to the number of Doppler peaks in the radial wind spectrum, a classification retrieval algorithm (CRA) combining a Gaussian fitting algorithm and a spectral centroid algorithm is designed to estimate wind velocity. Compared to calibrated pulsed coherent wind lidar, the correlation coefficient for the wind velocity is 0.979, with a standard deviation of 0.103 m/s. The results show that CW lidar offers satisfactory performance and the potential for application in wind measurement.
