DS-SS/TDMA Preamble Structure and Code Acquisition Method for Enhanced Code Acquisition Performance (부호획득 성능이 향상된 DS-SS/TDMA 프리앰블 구조 및 부호획득방법)

  • In this paper, we proposed preamble structure and code acquisition method to improve code acquisition performance for DS-SS/TDMA packet communication systems. Proposed algorithm changes the short PN code position depending on the sub slot number. Proposed algorithm also saves position differences between short PN codes and position offsets between short PN codes and data starting position of the TDMA packet. By using the position difference table, proposed algorithm can find out exact data starting position even though some sub slots were defected. As a result of simulation, we concluded that proposed algorithm has at least 5dB gain compared to conventional method when same short PN code is used. Moreover, proposed algorithm shows same code acquisition performance only with 1/4 shortened short PN code compared to conventional method.

  • With the development of computational fluid dynamics (CFD), studies on shipbuilding and maritime issues including free-surface wave flow have been conducted. Although the volume of fluid (VOF) and level-set methods are widely used to study the free-surface wave flow, disadvantages exist. In particular, it takes a long time to obtain solutions. In this study, a free-surface capturing code is developed for ship and offshore structures. The developed code focuses on accuracy and computation time. Open source CFD libraries, termed OpenFOAM, are used to develop the code. The results obtained using the developed code are compared with those obtained using interFoam. The results show that the developed code could be used to capture the free-surface wave flow without numerical diffusion; moreover, the accuracy of the developed code is largely the same as that of interFoam.

  • When concurrency is integrated to programming language, problem more than inheritance remains yet. Because more than inheritance happens by collision or cross fire between synchronization and inheritance of same time object, when synchronization code is not detached properly from method code about same time object, it makes expanded of code to make derivation class change synchronization code of super class and method code. In this paper, minimize right of inheritance method, When subclass is introduced to new synchronization limitation condition, wish to solve problem more than inheritance of three types that happen in same time programming embodying C++ class that do so that can avoid alteration of method reed.

  • Error correcting codes (ECCs) are commonly used to protect against the soft errors. Single error correcting and double error detecting (SEC-DED) codes are generally used for this purpose. The proposed approach in this paper selectively reduced power consumption, delay, and area in single-error correcting, double error-detecting checker circuits that perform memory error correction. The multi-objective genetic algorithm is employed to solve the non -linear optimization problem. The proposed method allows that user can choose one of different non-dominated solutions depending on which consideration is important among them. Because we use multi-objective genetic algorithm, we can find various dominated solutions. Therefore, we can choose the ECC according to the important factor of the power, delay and area. The method is applied to odd-column weight Hsiao code which is well- known ECC code and experiments were performed to show the performance of the proposed method.

  • A new code: LS code was proposed for IMT-2000 CDMA system. The code has special properties during a certain time of interval: 1) perfect autocorrelation 2) perfect crosscorrelation. The perfect autocorrelation means that the autocorrelation has nMaximum for zero time-offset and zero for other times during a certain time. Moreover the perfect crosscorrelation means that the crosscorrelation has zero during a time of interest. In the LAS-DMA system, the LS code is only used in the spreading of data bits in contrast to the conventional CDMA system. Therefore the LS code pair setting and allocation order should be dealt with carefully considering the special properties of LS code. This paper is intended as an investigation of the setting LS code pair and the sequential allocation method. Firstly, the optimum LS code pair set is proposed in order to minimize PAPR. Secondly, the sequential allocation method is studied to either minimize PAPR or expand IFW.

  • A new code, LS code, was proposed for the IMT-2000 CDMA system. The code has special properties during a specific time interval: 1) perfect autocorrelation, and 2) perfect crosscorrelation. Perfect autocorrelation means maximum autocorrelation for zero time-offset and zero autocorrelation for all other times during a specific time interval. Moreover, perfect crosscorrelation means that the crosscorrelation has zero value during a certain time, you can remove all the MAI within that time. However, the detailed properties of LS code and its exact generation method have been previously unknown. Therefore, we investigate the LS code in regards to its exact generating method, properties, and performances in this paper.

  • In this paper we propose a new iterative decoding method of turbo code which computes the log-likelihood ratios at each MAP (maximum a posteriori) decoder in parallel in each iteration step and combines them with proper weights to produce better decisions. Our results indicate that the proposed decoding method is particularly useful for systems with limited number of iterations and low code rates.

Application of data driven modeling and sensitivity analysis of constitutive equations for improving nuclear power plant safety analysis code

  • Constitutive equations in a nuclear reactor safety analysis code are mostly empirical correlations developed from experiments, which always accompany uncertainties. The accuracy of the code can be improved by modifying the constitutive equations fitting wider range of data with less uncertainty. Thus, the sensitivity of the code with respect to the constitutive equations is evaluated quantitatively in the paper to understand the room for improvement of the code. A new methodology is proposed which first starts by dividing the thermal hydraulic conditions into multiple sub-regimes using self-organizing map (SOM) clustering method. The sensitivity analysis is then conducted by multiplying an arbitrary set of coefficients to the constitutive equations for each sub-divided thermal-hydraulic regime with SOM to observe how the code accuracy varies. The randomly chosen multiplier coefficient represents the uncertainty of the constitutive equations. Furthermore, the set with the smallest error with the selected experimental data can be obtained and can provide insight which direction should the constitutive equations be modified to improve the code accuracy. The newly proposed method is applied to a steady-state experiment and a transient experiment to illustrate how the method can provide insight to the code developer.

  • The purpose of this paper is to modify the ASME Code Z-Factor, which is used in the evaluation of circumferential surface crack in nuclear ferritic pipings. The ASME Code Z-Factor is a load multiplier to compensate plastic load with elasto-plastic load. The current ASME Code Z-Factor underestimates pipe maximum load. In this study, the original SC. TNP method is modified first because the original SC. TNP method has a problem that the maximum allowable load predicted from the original SC. TNP method is slightly higher than that measured from the experiment. Then the new Z-Factor is developed using the modified SC. TNP method. The desirability of both the modified SC. TNP method and the new Z-Factor is examined using the experimental results for the circumferential surface crack in pipings. The results show that (1) the modified SC. TNP method is good for predicting the circumferential surface crack behavior in pipings, and (2) the Z-Factor obtained from the modified SC. TNP method well predicts the behavior of circumferential surface crack in ferritic pipings.

  • It is specified in KCI code that long-tenn deflection shall be determined by multiplying the immediate deflection by KCI code multiplier, unless it is obtained by a more comprehensive analysis. Therefore, in this study, the estimation method of long-term deflection by KCI code multiplier is known resonable by comparing analysis results using KCI code multiplier and AEMM.
