  • Reliability analysis methods have been employed in this study to determine the safety index ${\beta}$ for flexure associated with reinforced concrete designs that are in accordance with current USD code of Korea. In reliability analysis, the mean first-order second-moment methods are employed. The following specific conclusions can be drawn from this study; 1) Levels of safety for reinforced concrete design, measured by ${\beta}$, vary from 2.8 to 3.8 in flexure depending on the limit state, the ratio of live load to dead load and the uncertainties. 2) Target reliability ${\beta}$ associated with reinforced concrete beams in flexure is assumed to be 3.5~4.0 in Korea. 3) Load factors and resistance factors in flexure associated with the current provisions contained in USD code generally seem to be too high. The writer concluded the factors as following; ${\phi}=0.8,\;{\gamma}_D=1.1\;{\gamma}_L=1.75$.

  • This paper presents HE-AAC decoder optimization on TMS320C55x fixed-point DSP core using a DSP-C like FFR code, which provides fast and flexible porting to a DSP core. Our optimization efforts are focused on methodologies that include general optimization methods of FFR code suitable for general DSP or RISC platform in high-level language and software optimization methods in assembly language level. The implementation result requires 48 MIPS and 135 Kbytes memory space to decode 48 Kbps stereo using real Korean S-DMB data.

  • This study proposes a new diversity algorithm to improve the signal-to-noise ratio. In the wireless channel, if fading occurs due to the multipaths, the performance of the system is apparently reduced. One of the methods to reduce fadings like this is the diversity method, and this study aims to improve the performance of the system by proposing a new diversity algorithm. This study applied rake receiver, and normalized the wireless channel from the Nakagami fading channel to the Rayleigh fading channel, which set the fading index as 1, because of the multipaths. It applied QPSK and OQPSK modulation methods and applied the convolutional codes, where the code rate is 1/2 and 1/3 and the constraint length is 9, and the turbo code where the constraint length is 4. Under these conditions, this study compared and analyzed the average error probability of direct spread multiple access system. The diversity algorithm proposed in this paper could be applied to the mobile communication and other wireless multimedia communications that require high quality and high reliability.

  • Recently, as the number of new and variant malicious codes has increased exponentially, malware warnings are being issued to PC and smartphone users. Malware is becoming more and more intelligent. Efforts to protect personal information are becoming more and more important as social issues are used to stimulate the interest of PC users and allow users to directly download malicious codes. In this way, it is difficult to prevent malicious code because malicious code infiltrates in various forms. As a countermeasure to solve these problems, many studies are being conducted to apply deep learning. In this paper, we investigate and analyze various deep learning methods to detect and classify malware.

  • Recently, an intelligent APT(Advanced Persistent Threat) attack which aims to a special target is getting to be greatly increased. It is very hard to protect with existing intrusion detection methods because of the difficulties to protect the initial intrusion of malicious code. In this paper, we analyze out-bound traffics to prevent call-back step after malicious code intrusion, and propose an APT malicious traffic detection method with considering of trust. The proposed method is expected to provide a basement to improve the detection rate in comparing with that of existing detection methods.

  • To calculate proper seismic design load and seismic design category, the exact site class for construction site is required. At present, the average shear-wave velocity for multi-layer soil deposits is calculated by the sum of shear-wave velocities without considering of vertical relationship of the strata. In this study, the transfer function for the multi-layered soil deposits was reviewed on the basis of the wave propagation theory. Also, the transfer function was accurately verified by the finite element model and the eigenvalue analysis. Three methods for site period estimation were evaluated. The sum of shear-wave velocities underestimated the average shear-wave velocities of 526 strata with large deviations. The equation of Mexican code overestimated the average shear-wave velocities. The equation of Japanese code well estimated the average shear-wave velocities with small deviation.

  • For an accurate and efficient time-dependent Monte Carlo (TDMC) neutron transport analysis, several advanced methods are newly developed and implemented in the Seoul National University Monte Carlo code, McCARD. For an efficient control of the neutron population, a dynamic weight window method is devised to adjust the weight bounds of the implicit capture in the time bin-by-bin TDMC simulations. A moving geometry module is developed to model a continuous insertion or withdrawal of a control rod. Especially, the history-based batch method for the TDMC calculations is developed to predict the unbiased variance of a bin-wise mean estimate. The developed methods are verified for three-dimensional problems in the C5G7-TD benchmark, showing good agreements with results from a deterministic neutron transport analysis code, nTRACER, within the statistical uncertainty bounds. In addition, the TDMC analysis capability implemented in McCARD is demonstrated to search the optimum detector positions for the pulsed-neutron-source experiments in the Kyoto University Critical Assembly and AGN201K.

  • In the W-CDMA system, cell search is one of the imporant functions of the mobile station searching for a cell and achieving spreading code and time synchronization to its downlink scrembling code. For the methods of cell search to optimize codes, three stages are considered: 1) slot synchronization, 2) frame synchronization, and 3) scrambling code identification. Channels for cell search are Primary Synchronization Channel (P-SCH), Secondary Synchronization Channel(S-SCH), and Common Pilot Channel (CPICH). In this paper, cell search is analyzed based on simulation. Rake receiver provides improvement of Performance as an increase of bandwidth because there are more available multipaths. In this paper, the performance of W-CDMA system employing RAKE receiver is evaluated by computer simulation over the types of ITU_R wideband channel model and spreading rate. The result shows that the performance of CDMA adapting RAKE receiver is improved by the increase of multipath components in equal level of the received power.

  • This paper presents methods for dynamic stall control utilizing an optimization approach. Unsteady aerodynamic sensitivity code is developed using a direct diffentiation method from a discrete two-dimensional unsteady compressible Navier-Stokes code including a two-equation turbulence model. Dynamic stall control is conducted by minimizing an objective function defined at an instant instead of integrating a response for a period of time. Unsteady sensitivity derivative of the objective function is calculated by the sensitivity code, and optimization is conducted using a linear line search method at every physical time level. Examples of dynamic stall control utilizing airfoils nose radius or maximum thickness variation show very satisfactory results.
