A Study on Plastic Characteristics in Style of Greek Statue's Clothing - Concentrating on Drapery and Pleats - (그리스 조상(彫像)에 나타난 복식(服飾)의 조형성(造形性) 연구(硏究) - 드레퍼리와 주름을 중심(中心)으로 -)

  • The purposes of this study are to comprehend the internal meaning and the external form in style of Greek statue's clothing in the light of linked solution, and to compare the characterizations of style of Greek statue's clothing with those in Greek Art. For these purpose, the theoretical studies about Greek art are preceded as a framework of this research, and then plastic characteristics of Greek statue's clothing and Greek art are analyzed by the documentary studies, For sources, photographs of Greek statue in Archaeological Museum and Louvre museum are used. The result is as follows. It is demonstrated that the characters of internal meaning in style of Greek art and Greek statue's clothing. The internal meaning of style of Greek art and Greek statue's clothing are as follows 1) Beauty of vital is subject that possessed life and movement and embodied dynamics or inherent power. 2) Beauty of moderation is subject that achieves some of its most impressive and practise a similar economy and restraint. 3) Beauty of character is subject that reveals the character of its wearer and has its own charm and distinction The Greeks clarified beauty by looking for mathematical proportions. It is the interrelation of part with one another, and with the whole, together with the additional element of good colour, which constitutes beauty as perceived by the eyes. The beauty in style of Greek statue's clothing consists of a sense of geometrical pattern, oder, symmetry, proportion, and rhythm.

The Content Analysis of Clothing Construction field in the middle-school Textbook of Technology and Home Economics (중학교 기술 가정.교과서의 의복구성 분야 내용 분석)

  • The purpose of this study was to analyse the structure and contents of clothing construction field in the middle-school textbook of technology and home economics with curriculum revised in 2007. 10 kinds of textbooks certified by Ministry of Education, Science and Technology in 2010 were selected and home economics field in them was the subject of this study with the external characteristics such as textbook system, instruction area and contents included. This study was content analysis-oriented and descriptive with data calculated by frequency and percentage. The findings are as follows. In 'Reality of Home-Life', food life area showed highest as 34.4% followed by clothing life(28.7%) and dwelling life(28.7%). The portion of present teachers in writing staffs was highest while there was no textbook where professors of each field were included in writing staffs. The contents of costume society, clothes material, clothes management from section 'Choice and Management of Clothes' in the chapter 'Family Life' and clothing construction from the section 'Making and Modifying Clothes' of the chapter 'Reality of Home-Life' were analysed in this study. Clothing construction-related fields were suggested separately by method of measurement, construction theory, drafting theory, drafting an original form, fabric trimming, utilization of the original form, length measure, cloth cutting, hand stitching, how to use a sewing machine, basting and correction, needlework process, completion, and evaluation. The contents of the unit 'Making Shorts' were about clothing construction theory, human body measurement, drafting an original form, process of making shorts and activity/research/experience. The contents of the unit 'Wearing Clothes after Fixing' in clothing construction-related field were about how to fix and recycling.

An Empirical Study on Clothing Distribution Center to Improve Storage Efficiency : Especially on Hanger Rack Storage According to Distance between Columns (의류 물류센터 보관효율 향상을 위한 실증적 연구 : 행거 랙 보관과 건물기둥 간격을 중심으로)

  • Sales of the Korean clothing industry grew to 16.9 percent on-year in 2010, but the growth rate dropped to 3 percent from 2011 to 2016 and the overall market began to slump to 1.1.6 percent in 2017. The competitiveness of clothing companies is also a major sector in logistics capability, and the average logistics cost of domestic clothing companies is 8.3 percent of sales in 2011, higher than the average 8 percent of domestic industries, and 36.4 percent of the total storage cost in 2011, higher than the 28.8 percent share of the total storage cost of domestic companies. As domestic production conditions such as wage hikes and labor disputes worsened in the 1990s, production facilities were rapidly moved overseas, which led many clothing companies to have no production facilities or a minimal production base in Korea and focus on marketing and design capabilities. The total storage capacity and storage efficiency of the logistics center became very important as the products were changed to the form of mass warehousing and small-volume forwarding. Research shows that building column spacing, a model of this research, can affect the amount of hanger rack storage empirically, so for sustainable growth of clothing companies, it is necessary to improve competitiveness in the logistics market by reducing costs and improving efficiency to overcome difficulties in corporate management. Because logistics costs are 8.3 percent and operating profit to sales ratio is 2 percent, it is expected that operating profit will increase by 41.5 percent if logistics costs are reduced by 10 percent. If 10% of storage cost is saved based on storage cost, operating profit is expected to increase by 15% To strengthen the competitiveness of the clothing industry, a reduction in logistics costs is essential. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to provide hints that logistics experts can have empirically small amounts in reducing storage costs through column spacing adjustment of logistics centers that have not been dealt with statistically until now, and to contribute to the continued growth of clothing companies and the development of the domestic logistics industry.

Study on the Characteristics of Pressure by Knitted Fabrics for Foundation (여성 파운데이션용 편포의 압력특성에 관한 연구)

  • 여성 파운데이션용 편포의 압력특성에 관한 문제를 공학적 관점에서 검토해보기 위하여 거들용 편포와, 또한 비교를 위하여 드로우어즈용 편포를 시료로하여 완전강체 및 완전탄성체, 그리고 강체와 탄성체를 동시에 가지는 수압체를 모델로 제작하고, 시료를 고리형태로 만들어 피복시킨후 그 압력을 12시간 동안 연속측정하였다. 이때 시료의 신장정도, 수압체의 탄성체 구성비 등을 여러가지로 달리 하여 그에 따른 압력의 변화를 봄과 동시에 시간경과의 효과도 검토하여본 바 다음과 같은 결과를 얻었다. 1. 강체를 수압체로한 경우는 시료의 신장률 증가에 따라 압력이 거의 직선적으로 증가하였고, 그 정도는 거들의 재료가 드로우어즈의 재료에 비하여 훨신 크게 나타났다. 2. 수압체의 탄성체구성비가 증가할수록 신장률 증가에 따른 시료의 실질신장률의 증가 경향이 둔화되어, $40\%$신장률의 경우는 그 이전보다 오히려 감소하는 경향을 나타내었다. 3. 수압체에 탄성체가 포함된 경우는 매우 적은 압력을 나타내었으며, 시료 신장률의 증가에 따른 변화도 매우 적게 나타남으로써 시료 신장률이 클수록 강체수압체에 대한 압력과의 차이가 더욱 커지게 됨을 알 수 있었다. 그러나드로우어즈 재료의 경우는 탄성체가 받는 부담은 크지 않은 것으로 나타났다. 4. 압력의 경시변화는 초기의 압력분포 안정화 과정을 제외하고는 12시간까지 어떤 경우에도 크게 나타나지 않았다.

Study on the Functional Brassiere Development (기능적 Brassiere 개발에 관한 연구(II) - bust up 기능을 중심으로 -)

  • The object of this study is to develope an improved version of brassiere with better fit and improved performance by conducting a try-on test on 6 types of revised brassieres (constructed on above basis). The study procedures consisted of a try-on test of experimentally constructed brassieres and a sensory test on fit. The results of experimentally constructed brassiere trial are as follows. 1. The sizes showing performance effects due to different types of experimentally construct- ed brassieres were bust length, bust height, under bust curve length, vertical and horizontal bust diamenter, upper-lower bust slope angle (direct measurement, parallel standard, upper torso tilt rate), side bust slope angle and top bust slope angle. 2. Concerning the changes in lower cup interior, elastic materials and wider portions perfor-med better in bust up effect. 3. No effects due to different shoulder strap positions were observed, but combined with lower cup interior changes the side types proved more effective than the standard types.

The Changes of Drama Costume and an Analysis of Costume's Value in the Changes of TV Historical Dramas -Focusing on MBC Historical Dramas- (TV 사극 변천에 따른 드라마 의상의 변화와 가치분석 -MBC 사극을 중심으로-)

  • This study examines how the development and value of dresses shown in MBC historical dramas have changed with the overall change of the dramas. As for the research method, the second data analysis was done with literature study which was supplemented with interviews with the wardrobe team of MBC production design center. Historical dramas produced by MBC have gone through the developmental period, legitimate historical drama-oriented period, stagnant period, and historical dramas-modernized period. The value of costume in each period is as follows: Costume in the developmental period is considered only as part of drama setting. During legitimate historical drama-oriented period, it carries value as educational data and historical replica produced by historical research. Production design including costume obtains its own value in the stagnant period although the production of historical dramas decreases dramatically. And lastly, in the historical dramas-modernized period, costume starts to have commercial value as cultural contents. Historical drama costume may contain important value in terms of education and history, even though there has been controversy on TV historical dramas' role: they should focus on reproducing historical facts or they should support writers' creativity.

Clothing Store Selection behaviors of College Students in Yanbian, China (중국 연변지역 대학생의 의류점포 선택 행동)

  • This study is designed to understand demographic characteristics, store selection factors, difference in preferred stores which are considered to be related to store selection behaviors for clothes by college students in Yanbian, China. Questionnaire was used for measurement tools to study the subject of the thesis. Questions used for the evaluation criteria for store selection were primarily based on those previously used by the other researchers with some revision and supplementation. Each question was rated in 5 point scale, where 1 means 'not at all' and 5 means 'definitely'. A total of 50 copies of the questionnaire was passed out to college students in Yanbian from March 20 to March 25, 2001, for the preliminary study. The main study was conducted against 450 college students from May 17 to June 5, 2001 The data for the study were analyzed using SAS PC program for frequency distribution, percentage, 1 -test, and one way ANOVA. A significant difference was showed in the preferred stores between male and female students. In total, underground markets were preferred most with 41.6%, followed by markets with 40.3%. A significant difference was showed among groups regarding preferred stores based on an average monthly income, monthly expense on clothing. Three areas of 'product price', 'display and mood of the store' and 'royal store' showed a significant difference in terms of selecting stores based on an average monthly income. A significant difference was showed in only one areas(brand awareness) in selecting stores based on monthly clothing expense.

Digital Marketing of Cotton to Generation Y College Students

  • Purpose - Gen Y college students have emerged as a profitable consumer segment because of their growing purchasing power and influence on others' buying decisions. Digital marketing is deemed effective in increasing Gen Y college students' knowledge of and interest in products and services. This research examined the effect of digital marketing on Gen Y college students'perceptions, attitudes and purchase intentions toward cotton clothing compared to that of conventional print marketing and no marketing. Research design, Date and Methodology -Data were collected from three different groups of college students from a large university in the U.S.: the group with no cotton marketing, those with print media marketing, and those with digital marketing. Result - The findings confirmed that college students who were exposed to cotton digital marketing displayed the highest level of agreement on the benefits of cotton clothing. They also exhibited the most favorable attitudes and strongest purchase intentions toward cotton clothing. Conclusions - To target Gen Y consumers effectively, marketers should consider a digital marketing strategy to promote their products and services.

A Study on Advertisement Design of Men's Fashion Products (남성패션제품 광고디자인에 대한 연구)

  • The present study analyzed the differences of advertisement design, expression method, and appeal types in the men's fashion product advertisement from men's magazines between 1996 and 2006, according to the year, season, and the type of the magazine. The magazines chosen for the analysis were Korean Esquire, GQ, and Shin-dong-a. 2058 advertisement out of 88 sample magazines were chosen and analyzed by frequency, and chi-square using SPSS statistic package. The results of the study were as follows. First of all, there were more advertisements without copy, and even when the copy was used, it was used as a headline only. Secondly the poster style layout was used more frequently than other layouts, and one male model wearing the product was the most popular. Thirdly the types of appeal in advertisement, sensuous appeal was most frequently used. The results of the study showed that there is little advertisement differentiation in men's fashion product advertisement. Therefore in order to draw consumer's attention. various and unique advertisement design should be implemented.

Comfort Evaluation of Caps from Pressure Measurement (Part I) (모자 압박감의 객관적인 평가방법 개발 (제 1 보))

  • A tool to evaluate the subjective wearing comfort of caps from the objective measurement of pressure was developed. Comfortable Fittability Index(C.F.I) and Holding Power(HP) were defined to represent the subjective wearing comfort of caps. As a preliminary step to define the Comfortable Fittability Index(C.F.I), average pressure, pressure distribution, standard deviation of pressure were obtained and subjective sensation were evaluated by wearing caps. Also Holding Power(HP) was estimated from wind tunnel testing. Two sets of caps were evaluated, one set made of elastic fabric(F-caps) and the other set made of non-elastic fabric(S-caps). F-caps begin to be taken off by the higher wind velocity and thus exhibited higher values of Holding Power. On the other hand, F-caps exerted lower average pressure, narrower pressure distribution, smaller standard deviation.
