  • This study was conducted to identify the subjective happiness and self-esteem of nursing students and how these variables affect clinical practice stress. Participants consisted of 199 nursing students who were in the third and fourth years who had experienced clinical practice at two nursing universities located in Gyeongnam, and agreed to the survey. Data were collected using questionnaires from June 15 to August 29, 2020. Collected data were analyzed using the SPSS 22.0 statistics program with descriptive statistics, an independent t-test, ANOVA, Scheffe's test, and multiple regression. The mean score for subjective happiness was 4.87 (out of 7), the mean for self-esteem was 3.84 (out of 5), and clinical practice stress was 2.77 (out of 5). The significant predictors of the clinical practice stress were gender, major satisfaction and self-esteem, and the explanatory power of variance was 14.1%. Therefore, we need differentiated clinical practice stress reduction programs according to gender and various strategies that can enhance major satisfaction in order to reduce the clinical practice stress of nursing students.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to evaluate retrospectively the clinical results of closed reduction and percutaneous screw fixation for unstable injuries on stress radiographs in subtle injuries of Lisfranc joint. Materials and Methods: From June 1997 to March 2003, 6 cases of unstable injuries on stress radiograph in subtle injuries of Lisfranc joint were treated by percutaneous cannulated screw fixation after closed reduction. All cases were injuried by indirect force (twisting injury). The average diastasis between the 1st and 2nd metatarsal base was 3 mm (2-4 mm) on initial nonweight bearing AP radiograph. The average follow-up period was 20 months. Clinical evaluation was assessed according to the American Orthopedic Foot and Ankle Society (AOFAS) midfoot score. Results: The AOFAS midfoot score was average 86 (80-90) points. The average diastasis between 1st and 2nd metatarsal base was 2 mm (1-3 mm) on weight bearing AP radiograph in final follow up. The final diastasis was increased slightly than diastasis in initial postoperative radiographs. But the clinical results were good. There was no correlation between the degree of diastasis and the clinical results. On weight bearing lateral radiograph, the average difference with normal foot in the distance between plantar aspect of 5th metatarsus and medial cuneiform was 2 mm (0-3 mm). One case had mild arthritic change on the radiographs. Conclusion: When the Lisfranc injuries, especially in the subtle injuries were suspicious, the stress views are helpful to assess stability of the Lisfranc injuries and planning of treatment. For unstable injuries on stress radiographs in subtle injuries of Lisfranc joint, closed reduction and percutaneous screw fixation is useful method to expect good clinical results.

  • Background: This study aimed to identify the types of adult attachment and determine the relationship between adult attachment and job factors in dental hygienists. Ultimately, it was necessary to identify the need for a secure attachment to improve the quality of clinical dental hygienist's services. Methods: Data of 454 clinical dental hygienists working in dental hospitals or clinics were collected. The research tools consisted of items related to the general and work characteristics of dental hygienists (9 items), adult attachment styles (36 items), organizational commitments (12 items), occupational stress (15 items), and interpersonal relations (18 items). Cronbach's ${\alpha}$ of each tool was ${\geq}0.7$. Results: Most of the participants had fearful attachment styles, followed by dismissing-avoidance, security, and preoccupation. Security was the highest level of organizational commitment according to the adult attachment style, although the differences of the levels were insignificant. For occupational stress, preoccupation was the highest, followed by fearful, security, and dismissing-avoidance, and the differences were significant (p<0.001). For interpersonal relations, security was the highest, followed by preoccupation, dismissing-avoidance, and fearful in order, and the differences were significant (p<0.001). Conclusion: Job stress and interpersonal relation ability according to the adult attachment style of clinical dental hygienists had significant results. Thus, the development of attachment improvement programs by personal style, development of differentiated clinical education and its application, and improvements in the adult attachment styles of clinical dental hygienists would be required rather than simply presenting the needs to collectively improvement the working environment.

Results: There were significant differences in professional self-concept according to application motivation (F=5.43, p=.006), school record (F=3.24, p=.043), major satisfaction (t=-6.38, p<.001), desired occupation (F=9.30, p<.001), participant health status (F=4.31, p=.016), character (F=25.29, p<.001), clinical practice satisfaction (t=-5.36, p<.001), and change of thinking about career path after clinical practice (t=2.78, p=.006). Professional self-concept showed significant correlations with clinical practice stress (r=-0.37, p<.001) and resilience (r=0.66, p<.001). The variables affecting nursing students' professional self-concept were resilience (β=.38, p<.001), character (β=.32, p<.001), major satisfaction (β=.28, p<.001), and clinical practice stress (β=-.18, p=.007); the explanatory power was 65%. Conclusion: A professional self-concept enhancement program should be developed to promote the establishment of a positive professional self-concept in nursing students. • This study will be used as basic data to hold clinical training effective by researching and analyzing frequency, satisfaction and stress for the clinical practice of dental hygiene course students. The survey was undergone from Feb. 1, 2014 to Mar. 31 for 219 dental hygiene course juniors who had experienced clinical training in 3 year colleges located in Daejeon and Chungcheong Province. From the study, general and university hospital holds the highest satisfaction in clinical practice and dental offices in acquiring skills. Also, a significant difference is shown between the frequency and satisfaction according to clinical training sheets. The highest degree of stress is shown in dental offices for 'toothbrushing training and dental health education' and in general and university hospital for 'patient counselling'. Therefore, consideration should be made to establish the direction of education, standard criteria and evaluation method for student clinical training to raise its effectiveness.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the convergence relationship between the clinical practice stress and professional identity of 171 dental hygiene students from 3 university in Jeollanam-do area. The data were analyzed using SPSS WIN 18.0 program. Professional identity was negatively correlated with clinical practice training environment(r=-0.352, p<0.01), clinical practice work burden(r=-0.185, p<0.05) and conflicts with patients(r=-0.181, p<0.05). The convergence factors influencing professional identity were clinical practice training environment(${\beta}=-0.261$), aptitude(${\beta}=0.238$), advice from others(${\beta}=-0.186$) and clinical practice unsatisfied(${\beta}=-0.176$). The regression model explained 23.7% of professional identity. Therefore, it is necessary to develop a program for the smooth labor supply by understanding the relationship between clinical practice stress and professional identity in dental hygiene students.

  • This study was designed and performed to identify the effects of oriental medical therapy on hwabyung patients by investigating the life events as the cause of Hwabyung, recent stress perception which influences the clinical appearances and change of symptoms by means of objective scales. 1. Through life events rating scale, life events are reported as follows, in the order of majority. Health, discord within family, martial life, friendship and interest, religion etc. Hwabyung patients experienced negative stress much more than positive stress. 2. Through the GARS (Global Assessment of Recent Stress), there were some significant decreases of stress perception in stress4(stress of sickness or injury), stress7(stress of change or no change in routine) and stress8(overall global stress)(p<0.05, respectively), but there were no significant decreases in five items out of eight items. 3. There were significant decreases of all rated symptoms(feeling of chest oppressed, stuffy in the chest or epigastric mass, feeling of something pushing-up, flushing of body or face, abrupt impulsion of anger, resentment), which were checked weekly for 4 times (p<0.05, respectively). In this study the symptoms of hwabyung were improved regardless of stress perception. It means that hwabyung can be improved significantly with oriental medical therapy.
