  • This study aimed to identify the factors affecting the nursing performance and the convergence relationships of leisure satisfaction, job stress, and nursing performance among nurses. Participants included 150 nurses working at 2 hospitals in C city from August 3 to September 15, 2018. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, independent t-test, one-way ANOVA with Scheffe's test, Pearson correlation coefficients, and multiple regression by SPSS 23.0 program. Nursing performance were significantly differences in age (F=4.78, p=.003), marital status (F=2.74, p=.007), length of clinical career (F=3.34, p=.012), and health condition (F=5.23, p=.002). Nursing performance was a positively correlated with leisure satisfaction (r=.32, p<.001) and a negatively correlated with job stress (r=-19, p=.020), and job stress was a negatively correlated with leisure satisfaction (r=-.32, p=.005). The factors affecting the nursing performance of clinical nurses were age (${\beta}=.20$, p=.008) and leisure satisfaction (${\beta}=.28$, p<.001), and these variables explained about 19.6% of the variance in nursing performance. In order to improve nursing performance, it is necessary to provide working environment and institutional support for increasing leisure satisfaction and reducing job stress and age-differentiated approaches.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to develop a Simulation-based Integrated Clinical Practice Program (SICPP) for nursing students and to identify the effect of this program. Methods: A non-equivalent pre-post test of quasi-experimental design was used. One hundred thirty-one nursing students participated in the study with 69 in the experimental group and 62 in the control group. We developed a SICPP taking 3 hours per session, once per week for 10 weeks. Data were analyzed using the SPSS 19.0 program with descriptive statistics, ${\chi}^2$-test, independent t-test. Results: There were significant increases in nursing clinical competence (t=2.72, p=.008) and critical thinking(t=2.18, p=.031) in the experimental group compared to the control group. However, there was no difference in the problem solving process (t=0.36, p=.720) between the experimental and control groups. Conclusion: These results indicate that a SICPP can be used as an integrative program for enhancing the core performance of nursing students. However, a SICPP to promote the problem solving process needs to be more developed and research related with SICPP is further needed.

  • This study was conducted to examine the relationships between nursing students' knowledge on dementia, care performance, and empathy, thus providing the foundation of dementia patient nursing intervention strategies for nursing students. For the analysis to examine the relationships, this study used descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Scheffé test, and Pearson's correlation coefficient. The analysis showed that the higher students' year of study and the higher their interest in dementia (F=5.02, p=.008), the higher their knowledge on dementia (t=-4.03, p<.001), and also that the higher their satisfaction with clinical training (F=3.91, p=.023), the higher their care performance. It was found that nursing students' knowledge on dementia and their care performance (r=.21, p=.023) were positively correlated at a statistically significant level. Based on the results, this study suggests the need to develop and utilize education programs that can help students gain knowledge on dementia prior to clinical training so that they can have more knowledge on dementia and be encouraged to practice caring for patients with dementia.

  • Purpose: This study is descriptive survey research on the analysis of nurses' perception of the 4th industrial revolution and the importance and performance of future core nursing competencies in a tertiary hospital located in Seoul. Methods: Data were collected from 149 nurses with more than a year of work experience and analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-test, one-way ANOVA, and Importance Performance Analysis(IPA) with the IBM SPSS/WIN 25.0 program. Results: The nurses' perception of the 4th industrial revolution was 3.23±0.71 out of 5 points. The importance of future core nursing competencies was 4.31±0.48, and the performance of it was 3.47±0.54. The analysis results of IPA showed that A (area of continuous maintenance) included critical thinking, problem-solving skills, teamwork and collaboration, evidence-based practice, communication, quality improvement and safety, professionalism, self-regulation and self-management, and personal literacy. The specific competencies were not included in B (area of priority improvement). Creativity, informatics, healthcare policy, leadership, research ability, and continuing education were included in C (area of progressive improvement). Knowledge and patient-centered care, ability to manage resources as well as professional, legal, and ethical responsibility were included in D (area of overinvestment). Conclusion: The nurses seemed not to be fully prepared for the 4th industrial revolution. However, they were well aware of the importance of the future core nursing competencies. Therefore, if nurses increase the performance of core competencies in order of priority according to the IPA results, they will be able to independently lead the changing nursing field.
