The purpose of the present study was to examine the role of semantic and syntactic knowledge in the first language acquisition of Korean classifiers. The elicited classifiers production test(EPT) was conducted to 105 children aged from 2 to 7. EPT consisted of 16 classifiers and two items for each classifier. 32 items were divided into 2 major semantic features: animacy and inanimacy. The semantic features of inanimacy were subcategorized into 3 features such as neutral, shape and function. The results revealed that; 1) children produced the correct structure of classification from the very early age with correct word order of the noun phrase showing early fundamental syntactic knowledge; 2) The earliest response pattern was to respond to all nouns in the same way using a neutral classifier showing no apparent semantic basis for their choice; 3) Children didn't show any preference for animate, shape, or function classifiers.
Classification of hyperspectral images is challenging. A very high dimensional input space requires an exponentially large amount of data to adequately and reliably represent the classes in that space. In other words in order to obtain statistically reliable classification results, the number of necessary training samples increases exponentially as the number of spectral bands increases. However, in many situations, acquisition of the large number of training samples for these high-dimensional datasets may not be so easy. This problem can be overcome by using multiple classifiers. In this paper we compared the effectiveness of two approaches for creating multiple classifiers, feature selection and feature extraction. The methods are based on generating multiple feature subsets by running feature selection or feature extraction algorithm several times, each time for discrimination of one of the classes from the rest. A maximum likelihood classifier is applied on each of the obtained feature subsets and finally a combination scheme was used to combine the outputs of individual classifiers. Experimental results show the effectiveness of feature extraction algorithm for generating multiple classifiers.

This paper proposes a method of boosting-based classification for the purpose of real-time face detection. The proposed method uses depth images to ensure strong performance of face detection in response to changes in lighting and face size, and uses the depth difference feature to conduct learning and recognition through the I-MCTBoost classifier. I-MCTBoost performs recognition by connecting the strong classifiers that are constituted from weak classifiers. The learning process for the weak classifiers is as follows: first, depth difference features are generated, and eight of these features are combined to form the weak classifier, and each feature is expressed as a binary bit. Strong classifiers undergo learning through the process of repeatedly selecting a specified number of weak classifiers, and become capable of strong classification through a learning process in which the weight of the learning samples are renewed and learning data is added. This paper explains depth difference features and proposes a learning method for the weak classifiers and strong classifiers of I-MCTBoost. Lastly, the paper presents comparisons of the proposed classifiers and the classifiers using conventional MCT through qualitative and quantitative analyses to establish the feasibility and efficiency of the proposed classifiers.
Only a few studies have been conducted on how to select multiple classifiers from the pool of available classifiers for showing the good classification performance. Thus, the selection problem if classifiers on how to select or how many to select still remains an important research issue. In this paper, provided that the number of selected classifiers is constrained in advance, a variety of selection criteria are proposed and applied to tile construction of multiple classifier systems, and then these selection criteria will be evaluated by the performance of the constructed multiple classifier systems. All the possible sets of classifiers are trammed by the selection criteria, and some of these sets are selected as the candidates of multiple classifier systems. The multiple classifier system candidates were evaluated by the experiments recognizing unconstrained handwritten numerals obtained both from Concordia university and UCI machine learning repository. Among the selection criteria, particularly the multiple classifier system candidates by the information-theoretic selection criteria based on conditional entropy showed more promising results than those by the other selection criteria.
In machine learning, the ensemble classifier that is a set of classifiers have been introduced for higher accuracy than individual classifiers. We propose a new ensemble learning method that employs a set of region based classifiers. To show the performance of the proposed method. we compared its performance with that of bagging and boosting, which ard existing ensemble methods. Since the distribution of data can be different in different regions in the feature space, we split the data and generate classifiers based on each region and apply a weighted voting among the classifiers. We used 11 data sets from the UCI Machine Learning Repository to compare the performance of our new ensemble method with that of individual classifiers as well as existing ensemble methods such as bagging and boosting. As a result, we found that our method produced improved performance, particularly when the base learner is Naive Bayes or SVM.
In this paper, we propose a quadratic discriminant analysis based approach for improving the discriminating strength of weak classifiers based on simple Haar-like features that were used in the Viola-Jones object detection framework. Viola and Jones built a strong classifier using a boosted ensemble of weak classifiers. However, their single threshold (or decision boundary) based weak classifier is sub-optimal and too weak for efficient discrimination between object class and background. A quadratic discriminant analysis based approach is presented which leads to hyper-quadric boundary between the object class and background class, thus realizing multiple thresholds based weak classifiers. Experiments carried out for car detection using 1000 positive and 3000 negative images for training, and 500 positive and 500 negative images for testing show that our method yields higher classification performance with fewer classifiers than single threshold based weak classifiers.

Real-time energy monitoring systems is a demand-response system which is reported to be effective in saving energy up to 12%. Real-time energy monitoring system is commonly composed of smart-plugs which sense how much electrical power is consumed and IHD(In-Home Display device) which displays power consumption patterns. Even though the monitoring system is effective, users should themselves match which smart plus is connected to which appliance. In order to make the matching work to be automatic, the monitoring system need to have appliance identification algorithm, and some works have made under the name of NILM(Non-Intrusive Load Monitoring). This paper proposed an algorithm which utilizes multiple classifiers to improve accuracy of appliance identification. The algorithm proposes to understand each classifiers performance, that is, when a classifier make a result how much the result is reliable, and utilize it in choosing the final result among result candidates from many classifiers. By using the proposed algorithm this paper make 4.5% of improved accuracy with respect to using single best classifier, and 2.9% of improved accuracy with respect to other method using multiple classifiers, so called CDM(Commitee Decision Mechanism) method.

The objective of this study is to suggest a credit scoring model of a capital company's customers by integration of multiple classifiers using genetic algorithm. For this purpose , an integrated model is derived in two phases. In first phase, three types of classifiers MLP (Multi-Layered Perceptron), RBF (Radial Basis Function) and linear models - are trained, in which each type has three ones respectively so htat we have nine classifiers totally. In second phase, genetic algorithm is applied twice for integration of classifiers. That is, after htree models are derived from each group, a final one is from these three, In result, our suggested model shows a superior accuracy to any single ones.

We have implemented a multiclassifier learning approach in a GA-based inductive learning environment that learns classification rules that are similar to rules used in PROSPECTOR. In the multiclassifier learning approach, a classification system is constructed with several classifiers that are obtained by running a GA-based learning system several times to improve the overall performance of a classification system. To implement the multiclassifier learning approach, we need a decision-making scheme that can draw a decision using multiple classifiers. In this paper, we introduce two decision-making schemes: one is based on combining posterior odds given by classifiers to each class and the other one is a voting scheme based on ranking assigned to each class by classifiers. We also present empirical results that evaluate the effect of the multiclassifier learning approach on the GA-based inductive teaming environment.

Recently, malware classification based on Deep Neural Networks (DNN) has gained significant attention due to the rise in popularity of artificial intelligence (AI). DNN-based malware classifiers are a novel solution to combat never-before-seen malware families because this approach is able to classify malwares based on structural characteristics rather than requiring particular signatures like traditional malware classifiers. However, these DNN-based classifiers have been found to lack robustness against malwares that are carefully crafted to evade detection. These specially crafted pieces of malware are referred to as adversarial examples. We consider a clever adversary who has a thorough knowledge of DNN-based malware classifiers and will exploit it to generate a crafty malware to fool DNN-based classifiers. In this paper, we propose a DNN-based malware classifier that becomes resilient to these kinds of attacks by exploiting Generative Adversarial Network (GAN) based data augmentation. The experimental results show that the proposed scheme classifies malware, including AEs, with a false positive rate (FPR) of 3.0% and a balanced accuracy of 70.16%. These are respective 26.1% and 18.5% enhancements when compared to a traditional DNN-based classifier that does not exploit GAN.
