  • The objective of this study were to identify the state of re. cognition and attitude of residents in Seoul city about air environment and to identify factors affecting attitude toward air environment. Study object was residents in Seoul city sampled by multistage random proportional sampling. Sample size was 0.0067%(500 persons) of total residents in Seoul city. The results were divided into two parts: (1) descriptive results of recognition and attitude toward air environment, (2) results of factor analysis to classify categories of attitudes toward air environment and regression analysis to identify factors affecting attitude toward air environment. Most of resident in Seoul city recognized that air environment in Seoul city was highly polluted and was not satisfactory. Experience of damage of air pollution was reported in about 70% of residents in Seoul city. More than 60% of residents in Seoul city had concern about air environment. Attitude toward air environment were classified into four categories using factor analysis: Necessity of intervention of local government for air environment conservation, Participation of residents and enterprises for air environment conservation, Optimistic attitude about air pollution, Preference of economy. Factors affecting the above attitudes were knowledge about air pollution, knowledge about policies and institutions related air environment conservation, concern about air environment, educational level, subjective assessment of air environment, sex, marital status. In conclusion this study suggested providing information of air environment in Seoul city to the residents and to educating residents for making positive attitude about air environment conservation.

  • Recently, the importance of simulation in a virtual driving environment as well as real road-based tests for autonomous vehicle testing is increasing. Real road tests are being actively conducted at K-City, an autonomous driving test bed located at the Korea Automobile Safety Test & Research Institute of the Transportation Safety Authority. In addition, the need to advance the K-City virtual driving environment and build a virtual environment similar to the autonomous driving system test environment in real road tests is increasing. In this study, for K-City of Korea Automobile Safety Test & Research Institute, using detailed drawings and actual field data, K-City virtual driving environment was advanced, and similarity verification was verified through comparative analysis with actual K-City.

  • This study was carried out to investigate the prevalence of fascioliasis of slaughtered and farmed cattle in Gwangju area from February to November in 2007. A total of 1,000 cattle fecal samples were collected from slaughter houses (n=805) and farms (n=185). Twelve (1.2%) were found as positive cases with excretion of the egg of Fasciola spp in the fecal specimens, and 128 (12.8%) were positive in intestinal parasitism using the flotation and sedimentation procedures. The infection rate of fluke larvae from the slaughtered cattle at abattoirs in Gwangju was 0.75% (6 out of 805 heads). In histopathology, there were several liver lesions such as inflammation with infiltration of eosinophil, polymorphonuclear cells, mononuclear cells and multinucleated giant cells, proliferation of connective tissue, calcification and abscess formation.

  • In order to improve the water environment at urban streams in Korea, several river restoration projects have been initiated for past few years. This study evaluates the impact of diverting water application at the riverhead of Onchun stream through the monitoring program for several water quality and ecological parameters. Various water quality parameters and ecological item such as benthic macroinverterates has been investigated between 09/05 and 12/06. Analysis indicates that the application of diverting water from Nakdong river to Onchun stream distinctly improved several water quality parameters such as, PH, BOD, TN, TP and concentrations of heavy metals. Low flow augmentation also improve ecological indicies such as the diversity index of benthic macroinvertebrates. Generally speaking, releasing addition water from head water of Onchun stream improves various water environmental characteristics.

  • Thirteen diary cows were diagnosed as bovine tuberculosis (BTB) based on pathological findings and PCR method from 74 diary cows slaughtered in Incheon city. BTB was outbreaked 9 times in the farm from March 2010 to June 2013. The BTB confirmed cows were all negatives by intradermal test with PPD at 3 times. Recently, disagreement between BTB outbreak and intradermal test has been raised as a big problem. This phenomenon suggest that a new control programs are necessary at farm level as well as diagnostic level.

  • The purpose of this study is to examine changes in the residues of procymidone and diazinon in Chwinamul, pepper leaves, and young radish according to drying method. When the three vegetables were dried at room with air stream, the residues of procymidone and diazinon increased, but after being adjusted to reflect the decrease in water content of the vegetables, the residues declined by 10 to 83 percent. When they were dried in a oven, the residues of the pesticides in the vegetables also increased, but after being adjusted to reflect the drop in the water content, the residues decreased by 44 to 71 percent. According to the results, the residues of the pesticides mostly decreased after being adjusted to reflect the drop in the water content of the dried vegetables. Therefore, when judging dried agricultural products not only the decreased water content of dried vegetables but also other factors that affect pesticide residues during the drying process should be considered. This raises the need for additional research on such factors.

  • The study on school indoor air quality was carried out at classrooms, computer-rooms, laboratories and play- grounds for carbonyl compounds including formaldehyde during the winter time from November to December 2004 and during the summer time from June to July 2005. The sampling was conducted under the general school condition without any artificial intervention such as the sealing, ventilating or heating at indoor environments. The concentrations of formaldehyde at all types of indoor environments were lower than air quality standard of $120{\mu}g/m^3$ for public facilities. The mean concentrations of formaldehyde at indoors were $4.5{\sim}6.1$ times higher than those at outdoors. From the comparison between two year and one year old schools after construction, the concentrations of formaldehyde in two year old school were $30{\sim}38%$ lower than those in one year old school measured at classrooms and laboratories.
