  • The realization of u-City is coming near in some local governments by applying various city services, namely, u-City services to the city construction field to improve competitiveness of the city. But it is a reality that some local governments are experiencing many trial and errors in application of the u-City service in addition to the problem posing that the u-City service is not considering characteristics of development or application environment of an individual city. The present research proposes a service model for on-site application of the u-City service to solve this problem. The proposed model suggests a method for specifically conceptualizing and objectifying the on-site application that the existing concept-oriented model or an architecture-oriented model, etc. didn't provide. The verification system on effectiveness or effects of the u-City service model to remove ambiguity on the u-City service especially. The verification system of the u-City service model grasps the technology, function, procedure and target, etc. that the u-City service contains, evaluates whether the model satisfies conditions that the model should have, and secures objectivity and predictability of the u-City service model through confirmation on propriety, implementation and effectiveness, etc.

  • This study aims to find out the genetic characteristics of gridded subdivision area which has its origin from ancient local administrative city-Sangju, Jeonju, Namwon, Kwangju, Chungju. The spatial structure, based on the inter-relationship among gridded subdivision area, city wall, and topographic condition, and the morphological characteristics of gridded subdivision area are analyzed. The points of analysis on morphological characteristics of gridded subdivision area consist of the size of unit block, the organization system of unit block, the orientation of subdivision line. As a result of the analysis, three main characteristics are found. Firstly there can be found no same land subdivision rule among study areas. Secondly, the morphological features of study area were the products of cumulative process of different subdivision areas which were developed in different periods. Thirdly, the original regular gridded land subdivision seems to have been carried out in the object of a farm-land cultivation around 7th century. And there was a change of land-use from farm land to urban land-use during the later 7th century and 8th century.

  • Local governments are establishing their own greenhouse gas reduction goal and are playing a important role to respond to climatic changes. However, there are difficulties in quantitative analyses such as estimation of future greenhouse gas emission and computation of reduction potential, which are procedures required to establish mid to long term strategies to realize of low carbon society by each local governments. Also, reduction measures must reflect characteristics of each local government, since the reduction power of each local government can differ according to characteristics of each. In order to establish strategies that reflect characteristics of local governments, types of greenhouse gas emission from cities were classified largely into residential city, commercial city, residential commercial city, agriculture and fishery city, convergence city, and industrial city. As a result of analyzing basic unit of greenhouse gas emission by local government during 2007 in terms of per population, household and GRDP based on the type classification, significant results were deduced for each type. To manage the amount of the national greenhouse gas, reduction measures should be focused on the local governments that emits more than the average of each type's GHG emission.

  • To analyze the slope characteristics of solar power plant installation region in Gangwon province, the installation status of solar power plant in Gangneung and Wonju city were investigated using GIS technique and satellite map. The solar power plant installation of Gangneung and Wonju city is 36 and 48 regions. Through topographical data of solar power plant installation region, a database for area, slope inclination, and elevation was construced. Based on the database, the slope characteristics of solar power plant installation region in Gangneung and Wonju city was analyzed. The results showed that the slope of Wonju city has a relatively higher slope inclination than Gangneung city. In addition, Gangneng and Wonju cities have many regions with maximum inclination of 15° and 34° or more within the solar power plant.

  • When we looked at the seasonal food dregs of the eastern side of gangwondo, gangneung city's summer and winter food dregs showed 25.9 and 25.8% respectively due to the presence of beach areas and ski resorts. Sokcho city showed 28.12% in summer and yangyang gun's summer food dregs showed 40.2%. Yangyang gun's august food dregs showed 2.7 times larger than annual average amount. Outlook density showed regional characteristics. Data showed that food dregs' amount rate has been reduced gradually from 2005 because of the prohibition of direct filling up. As a result of compositions analysis, the eastern side of gangwondo's water fraction of living dregs were lower than that of chuncheon city where is located at the gangwondo's inland area. chuncheon city's data showed residential areas 53.5%, community areas 56.8% and commercial areas 55.6%. These discrepancies caused by the characteristics of dregs discharge type and climate. The caloric value of dregs has been increased incrementally after the ban of food dregs' direct filling up. Therefore, heating value of the dregs exceeds the existing furnace design spec and it can cause high caloric value problems, so we need additional research to solve these problems.

  • The purpose of this study is to clarify the characteristics of daily living and the location of welfare facilities for the aged in the local city. The thorough investigation and observation works were made to them from the view points of daily living behaviors and behavioral places of the recuperating elderly and location of welfare facilities. This article discusses about the actual condition of the daily living activities of 252 elderly in 4 facilities. The results of this study are summarized as follows; We must actively prepare for the advanced age society to the increase of the elderly man population. The elderly man welfare facilities expansion needs the range who do not escape from existing a life area of the aged. The city of Sa-cheon the elderly man welfare facilities have got on favorable terms ready in the locational environment. But an facilities in the west area need to preparable emergency happen that facility construction. The usage of behavioral places in recuperating facilities are influenced by the physical environments and the basic characteristics of the elderly.

  • This study examined the perceived contingent factors that affect South Korean citizens' image of the city they reside in. The respondents in this study perceived the image of their city through two dimensions--leading and safe--during the COVID-19 era. When respondents perceived the openness and expertise of the local government, the transformational and transactional leadership of the government leader, liberal political orientation of the leader, lower degree of law compliance of the mayor, high degree of citizenship, and high level of living infrastructure and competitiveness as attributes of the city, they were more likely to perceive the city as having a "leading" image. The perceived cultural characteristics of the local government, specifically the factor of hierarchy and regulation, the perceptions of citizenship, and all three variables regarding the perceptions related to city attributes (i.e., environmental, cultural, and living infrastructures and competitiveness) positively influenced the perception of a "safe" city image. Based on the results, various theoretical and practical implications were discussed in this study.
