  • This study examines the economic, social, and cultural influence of films. The study also suggests several applications for Christian society through integrating some Christian viewpoints of films in culture. Films affect most of all areas of the society and modern people tried to get used to new culture of moving images, as we have done with the-character-culture, in the past. Many Christians, however, are shy about films and they have a few Christian applications to them. In this paper, researchers integrate the model of Niebuhr, Shin's cultural viewpoint of Niebuhr's understanding, and Johnston and Keller's model about films developed from Niebuhr. Researchers suggest a step-by-step proposal containing 'Extension of critical perspective', 'Establishment of thinking', and 'Expansion of thinking' as Christian effort to communicate films effectively. In addition, more studies are suggested Christianity will find out more possibilities of dialogue and more positive alternative to communicate with diverse cultures that are naturally experienced in today's popular society.

  • Purpose: A group of patients who were hospitalized for diabetic foot ulcers was classified according to the University of Texas Staging System for Diabetic Foot Ulcers, and we attempted to evaluate whether this staging system could be a criterion for treatment success using vacuum-assisted closure (VAC) technique. Materials and Methods: A total of 32 patients were diagnosed with diabetic foot ulcers according to the University of Texas Staging System for Diabetic Foot Ulcers. Of these, 24 patients who were evaluated as stage B according to the staging system were classified as Group 1, and 8 patients in stage D were classified as Group 2. After applying VAC, the treatment success rate was compared by evaluating the size and severity of ulcers between the two groups. Results: The grade of granulation after VAC was on average 3.75±0.53 in Group 1 and 2.25±0.71 in Group 2. There was better granulation after VAC application in Group 1 (p<0.01). The success rate of the treatment was 22 cases (91.67%) in Group 1 and one case (12.5%) in Group 2. Thus there were statistically significant differences in the success rate of treatment between groups 1 and 2 (Pearson's chisquare test, p=0.01; odd ratio 77.00, 95% confidence interval [CI] 1.26~14.66; relative risk 4.30, 95% CI 1.26~14.66). Conclusion: These results suggest that there was a higher success rate of treatment with VAC in stage B patients. The University of Texas Staging System for Diabetic Foot Ulcers can thus be an index for applying VAC to patients with infective diabetic foot ulcers.

However, high speed development absorbed just on growth gave rise to resource depletion attack and economical inequality. If it might be neglected human society will meet unsustainable development situation. So UN has made effort to make sustainable development(SD) through global band together. SD concept considers it important to promote current development not giving damage to next generation's development. Then economy, environment and social integration should be harmonized and it demands governance for its actualization. SD gets to be a matter of common interest in education. New Millenium development Goals make African poor countries that are in blind spots of development advance toward gradual sustainable development by supporting programmes to these countries. Thus sustainable development education(SDE) is for future. It has an aim to give suitable education for all people who are all over the world. SDE tries to make health society and successful economical life for all. The concept of SD is found in the essential aims of Christian school and Christian education seeking justice and shalom. Christians are called as transformers for servant mission giving recover in corrupt world. Firstly, Christian school practise this mission making students think on Christian perspectives. Then it makes students serve for environment, economical fairness, social integration with servant mission. Also Christian school has a mission to seek both justice and shalom as a praxis beyond the intellectual dimension of education until fulfilling justice and shalom for all who are all over the world. Thus it can be that Christian school is an important educational institution for realizing sustainable development in that it is always to seek justice and shalom through restoration on the Christian educational perspective.

  • Background: Preemptive analgesia has been suggested recently as an another technique of postoperative pain control. Combination of low dose opioid and NSAIDs was used to lessen systemic opioid side effect, however, the use of NSAIDs may hinder their side effects in perioperative period. The local application of small dose at the target site can be effective without systemic effect. The aim of this study is evaluating the additive effect and side effect of transdermal piroxicam as preemptive adjuvant to intravenous nalbuphine on pain relief after major abdominal surgery. Methods: We reviewed the records of patients received piroxicam patch for preemptive analgesia before operation and compared it with control group. Two sheets of piroxicam patch to the skin incision site for 12 hours before operation were attached (Group 1, n=20) and no patch were applied (Group 2, n=20). Both groups were received nalbuphine continuously after operation using two days infuser (2 ml/hr) containing 80 mg (96 ml). Pain is evaluated by VAS score at each time; 30 min, 1, 6, 12, 24, 36, 48 hours after operation and side effects of NSAIDs were observed for 3days postoperatively. Results: There was no significant VAS score difference between two groups following time in progress. And no significant side effect was noted in both groups, either. Conclusion: There is no preemptive or synergistic analgesic effect of piroxicam patch attached at planned operation site before operation.

  • The common local causes of active gingival bleeding are the vessel engorgement and erosion by severe inflammation and injury to hypervascularity lesion. Abnormal gingival bleeding is also associated with systemic bleeding disorders (liver disease, leukemia etc.). There are many conventional methods for gingival bleeding control, such as, direct pressure, packing, electrocoagulation, tight suture and application of hemostatic agents. If the continuous gingival bleeding is not stopped in spite of the all local application methods, the medical consultation should be obtained for systemic condition care and the major feeding arterial embolization. This is a case report of severe gingival bleeding and periodontitis control in a patient with liver cirrhosis and oral metastatic lesion of hepatocellular carcinoma. The bleeding lesion was placed in left buccal mucosa and gingiva of the left mandibular molars. The control methods were dental crown removal, primary endodontic drainage, gingival sulcus drainage and maxillary arterial embolization with medical consultation.
