The purpose of this study is to develop art activities using famous painting parodies in hopes of enhancing the creativity of 5-year old children. A total of 11 program activities were developed consisting of a preliminary activity (understanding the notion and ideas behind parody), introduction (view and analysis of famous paintings), development (theme selection, idea construction, and parody production), and conclusion (view and review of parody). Participants were 50 (24 in the experimental group and 26 in the comparative group) 5-year old children from a kindergarten located in G city. TTCT of Creative Thinking (TTCT: Figure A and B) was used as a research tool, and the listening abilities paintings test tool was applied to teachers of the groups. First, excluding accuracy, which is considered to be an unimportant factor in determining one's creativity, results showed positive effects on fluency, originality, abstractness, and persistence. Second, the program also showed positive effects on children's overall ability in appreciation of paintings as well as the sub factors including observation and expression, understanding painter's intention, atmosphere, materials and techniques, art elements, and attitude towards art piece.
Purpose: This study was done to evaluate the effects of distraction using balloon art on pain experienced by preschool children when undergoing an intravenous injection. Methods: Participants were 40 hospitalized preschool children. Children in the experimental group (20) were distracted by balloon art while undergoing an intravenous injection. Children in the control group (20) received regular care. Pain experienced by the children was measured using self-report, observation tools, heart rate and oxygen saturation. The data were analyzed using the SAS program. Results: Compared with the control group, children in the experimental group showed significant difference in pain as shown by pulse rate. However, children in the experimental group did not show a decrease in pain in the self-report or behavior observation when compared with children in the control group. Conclusion: Distraction using balloon art can be used to reduce pain for preschool children when undergoing an intravenous injection. Further nursing interventions need to be developed and provided to preschool children when undergoing painful procedures.

For young children who are not spontaneous or not accurate in verbal communication of their emotions and experiences, drawing is a good means of expressing their status in mind and thus drawing analysis with chromatics is a traditional tool for art therapy. Recently, children enjoy digital drawing via painting tools thus there is a growing needs to develop an automatic digital drawing analysis tool based on chromatics and art therapy theory. In this paper, we propose such an analyzing tool based on dominant color analysis. Technically, we use ART2 clustering and fuzzy logic to understand the fuzziness of subjects' status of mind expressed in their digital drawings. The frequency of color usage is fuzzified with respect to the membership functions. After applying fuzzy logic to this fuzzified central vector, we determine the dominant color and supporting colors from the digital drawings and children's status of mind is then analyzed according to the color-personality relationships based on Alschuler and Hattwick's historical researches.
This study aims to research the effects of group art therapy program on the self-esteem and peer relationships of children in low-income and single-parent families. It was performed for 24 sessions with Lee Hyeon-Jin's(2006) and Shin Ji-Hye and Kim Gui-Bok's(2009) group art therapy program. The evaluation was performed with Park Mi-Ran's self-esteem questionnaire(2007) and Kim Taehee's peer-relationship questionnaire(2005). The subjects are 26 elementary students in low-income and single parent family who are in the 2, 3, and 4 grade and use A-regional children center and B-regional children center which are located in Gyeongbuk province. Means, standard deviations, Independent t-test and Paired t-test were conducted. Firstly, the change in self-esteem of both experiment group and control group is investigated before and after their taking group art therapy program. There are statistically meaningful enhancements in self-esteem of experimental group. But there are no statistically meaningful enhancements in self-esteem of control group. Secondly, peer-relationships in both experimental group and control group do not change between before and after taking group art therapy program. Thus, the program of group art therapy is thought to be effective therapy improving the self-esteem of child in low-income single-parent family.

This paper aims to develop the art programs supporting prosocial behaviors of young children from multicultural and typical Korean families. On the basis of the survey results and literature review, art activities were planned. And the program was executed amongst young children from multicultural and typical Korean families to test the applicability of the program. The young children in the program showed either positive attitudes or conflicts with their peer group at the beginning. As the program continued, young children were gradually harmonized, yielding to each other and were negotiating. During the last stage of the program, young children from multicultural and typical Korean families demonstrated prosocial behaviors of sharing, helping, and cooperating with each other. These kinds of results prove that the art programs are helpful in promoting prosocial behavior among young children from multicultural and typical Korean families. Therefore, it appears that an educational institute in which young children from multicultural families are taught would be able to support prosocial behavior for young children from multicultural and typical Korean families using this program.

The aims of this study were to organize whether the Kindergarten After School Specialized Art Program could be applicable to young children, and whether this program would be effective to the development of young children's art competence. This study consisted of two steps: development of the Kindergarten After School Specialized Art Program and examination of its impact on children's art competence. This study used a two-group pretest/posttest design. Statistical analyses employed for this study were descriptive analysis, ANOVA, and repeated measure ANOVA. The results were as follows. Firstly, the Kindergarten After School Specialized Art Program was developed based on a literature review relevant of current art education. Secondly, the experimental group revealed a significant improvement in four components, whereas the control group showed a significant, but slight improvement compared with the experimental group in only three components. Thirdly, in between group comparison, a competencies on the four components based on multiple-creative ability in the experiment group were higher than that of the control group and the difference between both groups was statistically significant. Therefore, the program seemed to be effective in the improvement of art competence and multiple-creative ability. In addition, recommendation for the future research about after school teachers' and parents' recognition of the Kindergarten After School Specialized Art Program and strategies for its application are suggested.
