We identified the intake pattern and consumption propensity of milk and sought improvements to promote consumption of milk. We targeted 362 preschool children aged 5~7 years old who attended nursery school in the Bucheon area. Questionnaires were distributed and 328 questionnaires were collected. Approximately 36.2% of boys and 31.2% of gorls drank milk six times per week. A total of 32.9% of the preschool children drank more than 2 cups of milk/day. Approximately 72.9% of them currently drink white milk, and 46.0% preferred milk to processed milk. The reasons why they drink milk included 'want to be tall'(66.5%) and 'good health'(52.4%). Mothers(54.6%)and preschool children(39.3%) were the purchasers with the greatest impact on product purchases. Consumer propensity to buy milk was shown in the order of expiration date(4.80 points), and nutrition facts(4.01 points). (4.88 points) and enhanced nutrients(4.59 points) should be promoted for milk consumption. Therefore, it is thought that continuous nutrition education should be made together in order to increase consumption of milk of children and education targeting teachers and school parents should be conducted as well. And in order for children to drink milk without repulsion, the development of various products satisfying both symbolic aspects and nutritional aspects should continue to be made.
The purpose of this study is to find out the effects of directors' leadership style and the type of decision-making on improving child care teachers' job satisfaction which is essential to operate high-quality nursing. The survey method was used for 184 child care teachers who work for child care centers. The collected data were analyzed using one-way analysis of variance and posteriori test to find out the differences in teachers' job satisfaction according to their recognition of directors' leadership and decision-making. The result showed that differences exist in child care teachers' job satisfaction according to the leadership and decision-making of directors as recognized by the teachers. The score of child care teachers' self-development, work, welfare & social stability related to job satisfaction hit the highest when directors' leadership type was efficiency-centered. Similarly, participatory decision-making type, which is the most ideal type, scored the highest in all sub-components of job satisfaction in the case of directors' type of decision-making. This implies that the directors who prefer positive leadership and democratic participatory decision-making type increase teachers' job satisfaction which will positively affect the child care centers' qualitative development.
The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of child care center director's emotional leadership on childcare teachers' emotional intelligence and quality of life. For this purpose, this study conducted a questionnaire survey of 277 teachers working at child care centers located in K and J provinces. The data collected for this study were analyzed by frequency analysis, descriptive statistics, Pearson's product moment correlation, and multiple regression using SPSS Win 20.0. The results of the study are as follows. First, it was found that the child care center director's emotional leadership has a significant positive correlation with emotional intelligence, and has a 7.2% influence on child care teachers' emotional intelligence. Second, it was found that the child care center director's emotional leadership has a significant positive correlation with quality of life, and has a 9.9% influence on child care teachers' quality of life. Through these results, this study aims to provide basic data to prepare policy strategies for improving child care teachers' quality of life in terms of child care center director's emotional leadership and childcare teachers' emotional intelligence.

The purposes of this study are to propose architectural design and evacuation management guidelines for child care center with disabilities. To achieve these purposes, the questionnaire has carried out for director who manage child care center and analyzed the architectural characteristics of child care center for children with disabilities. The results of this study are as follows : (1) 65.3% directors think that less than 30% of children with disabilities in child care center can evacuate by oneself, and 73.2% of child care centers have difficulties for safe evacuation because of more than 50% of children with complex disabilities. (2) The moving or visual impaired children who live more than 2nd floors are need safe refuge areas for waiting in child care centers. (3) The child care centers for children with disabilities which were renovated from housing and multi-family housing have difficulties in vertical evacuating, and needs renovating for promotion of convenience and evacuation of children with disabilities.
This study examined how much support families with pre-school children receive for child care along with the types of support they receive. The paper also investigated the factors that influence the financial and social support received from government, employers and grandparents of the children. Data for this study were obtained from a questionnaire completed by mothers of pre-school children (n=641) during the spring of 2009. The data were analyzed by the following methods: $\chi^2$, t-test, ANOVA, Logit analysis, and Tobit analysis using SPSS and STATA software. The profile of support for child care showed that approximately 33 percent of families with pre-school children received free or subsidized child care from the government, 12 percent received some forms of support for child care from the parents' employers, and 26 percent received support from grandparents either financially or in the form of free child care. The results of the Logit analysis demonstrated that families with pre-school children were more likely to receive child care subsides from the government when they had a higher number of pre-school children and a lower level of family income. The significant factors that influence support from employers were mother's educational level, the number of pre-school children, and family income. The significant factors that affect support from grandparents of the children were the mother's age, the mother's employment status, the type of residence, and the family type.
This study examined the experience of administrators of home-based child care centers about CCFSM (Center for Children's Foodservice Management) service using a qualitative approach. Eight administrators of home-based child care centers in Seoul with more than one year's experience of CCFSM were interviewed regarding their opinions on support activities, standards, and foodservice management. The interviews were semi-structured with open-ended questions and they were transcribed and classified according to the subjects. There were negative opinions regarding the indications after a hygiene inspection leaving photographs or records behind, but most positive opinions were about round visits for foodservice sanitation and nutrition management. The participants thought that it is not enough that the number of nutrition education sessions for children be twice a year, and there was a suggestion to increase the rentals of nutrition educational materials. There was a complaint about the menus in that were difficult to prepare for lunch time or to obtain food ingredients for. The administrators poorly recognized how to use the standardized recipes and chlorine-based disinfectants, so they could not be applied properly. They also pointed out the problems of joint purchasing as low quality and high prices in the food service operation. They felt discriminated against compared to with larger scale child care centers because of their size and expressed concerns regarding the fact that many home-based child care centers were not included due to the lack of publicity and budget. Through the results, the CCFSM should provide a differentiated service and management by creating a dedicated team or staff for home-based child care centers so they will not feel left out. In addition, It is also important to constantly gather opinions to improve the menus and to use standardized recipes practically. In addition, it will be necessary to develop nutrition educational materials corresponding to the infants' age for home-based child care centers and increase the rent to expand nutrition education.
This study examined the effect of preservice child care teacher's competency on career stress and the effect of career aspration as a mediayor in the relationship between teacher's competency and career stress. The survey based on self report questionnaires was administered to a total of 200 students in child education and care college in Gyeonggido areas. The results of this were as follow: First, the result which examined the correlationship between major variables has found to be the significant correlationship of preservice child care teacher's competency, career stress and career aspiration. Preservice child care teacher's competency and career aspiration have found to have significant positive correlation but career stress and Child care and education teacher's competency and career aspiration have found to have the negative correlationship. Second, the result which examined the mediated effect of career aspiration in the relationship between teacher's competency and career stress has found that career aspiration has the complete mediated effects. Consequently, the mediating effects of career aspiration were confirmed. Based on the above results in the study meanings. limitations and proposals for next studies in the study were discussed.

The purpose of this study is to analyze working mothers' demand for child care and housekeeping home services, and to investigate the present supply condition of home services in Korea. Data collection was implemented to examine the service demand of working mothers(n=700) in four areas. The data were analyzed with SPSS. The results were as follows: 1) For home-based child-care dispatch services social enterprises are superior to other private service suppliers in terms of the treatment of service workers, wages, and quality control. As for child care service contents, the provision of meals, and casual safeguards were mostly expected. The most important qualification for care providers was found to be in faithfulness, and the certification related with child care was required. An affordable wage range was perceived as ₩3,000~5,000 per hour, and part time services. For the time range, services which commenced before 9 am and terminated after between 5~6 pm were preferred. 2) For housekeeping dispatch services, standard services, including basic cleaning, preparation of meals and side dishes, special cleaning, and washing, were in demand. The required qualifications of housekeeping service providers were similar to those of child care service providers. Possessing certification was not considered as an important quality; however, personality and career type were important factors. An acceptable wage range was ₩3,000~5,000 per hour and part-time services were preferred. In terms of the service time range, services which commenced between 8~9 am and terminated between 5~7 pm were preferred.
Objective: The present study examined the perspectives of grandparents raising their grandchildren in an attempt to better understand grandparents' child-rearing experience while providing kinship foster care to their primary-grade grandchildren. Methods: Data were collected through individual in-depth interviews with eight grandparents who have raised one or two primary-grade (ages 8-10) grandchildren using a qualitative approach. Results: First, the participants viewed the reason for their kinship foster care as a failure for caring for their own children and accepted the present grandparent-care provision as their responsibility. Second, the participants communicated constant struggles with their own health and grandchild-care as well as positive/negative emotions associated with the care provision. Third, most of the participants did not fully understand the developmental needs of their primary-grade grandchildren. Fourth, the participants articulated concerns for their primary-grade grandchildren's learning, peer interactions, school adjustment, and extra-curricular activities. Lastly, the participants all agreed on hoping to raise grandchildren with good personality traits as members of a society and to have them fill the gap from the loss of their parents. Conclusion: Although most participants accepted the current circumstances as their obligation, they still noted difficulties in child-care provision. Given the developmental needs of grandchildren and the resource needs of grandparents, proper and continuous intervention approaches should be developed/provided.
The purpose of this study was to evaluate the foodservice management practices in child-care centers in order to provide basic information for the development of a model of a centralized food service information center. This approach was achieved using a variety of qualitative and quantitative information including general foodservice management practices and plate waste. A self-completed questionnaire survey of 651 child-care centers in Korea was undertaken and detailed information was carefully collected at 6 representative child-care centers. The results of the empirical survey were as follows: 1. Child-care centers categorized by location were in large cities (59.9%), medium cities (27.6%) and in provincial areas (12.5). 2. Private sector of child-care centers was 46.4% of the total followed by National/public (44.2%) and licensed home day-care programs (9.4%). 3. Total average number of children in child-care centers was $63.3{\pm}43.1$ with a very significant difference (p<0.001) in types of child-care centers. 4. The average space of kitchen and dining room was $5.0{\pm}3.8\;and\;10.8{\pm}11.0$ pyung ($1pyung=3.3058\;cm^2$). 5. The average cost of interim snack in morning and afternoon in child-care centers were $345.9{\pm}459.3$ won and $359.3{\pm}226.6$ won respectively. The average cost of lunch was $644.0{\pm}481.1$ won. There was a significant difference (p<0.001) by types of child-care centers with a highest cost of 863.9 won in licensed home day-care programs. 6. Only a limited number of dietitian were employed, therefore most of food service management practice was not conducted by professional personnel. 7. The result of nutritional analysis of the food revealed that the level of energy and nutrients contained in the food was below the recommeded level (RDA/3).
