The new apartments has been rapidly built through the outskirts of Cheong-ju city since the latter half of 1980's. So, the population decreased in Seong-an dong and Jung-ang dong which are located in traditional urban area of Cheong-ju. Also, residential areas became obsolete and residential buildings happened to be vacant and empty. For urban rehabilitation, the city authorities will construct the high-rise complex housings with stores in the traditional urban area. We have doubts about whether the rapid change of new housing construction is right or not. Therefore, It is necessary to give a correct diagnosis of the present state from urban atrophy, keeping this area sustainable with traditionality and locality. This study is to examine and analysis in detail distribution patterns and habitable floor area by house types in Seong-an dong and Jung-ang dong which are located in traditional urban area of Cheong-ju. The result are as follows; the residential buildings as the 2,680 houses(including detached and apartment houses) and the 804 shop houses are distributed with 3,484(67%) of the whole 5,183 buildings and form 28percent of the whole floor areas. A distribution and area ratio of houses to shop houses is irrespectively about 76 : 24percent. The average floor area is represented with $66m^2$/household and $28.5m^2$/person. It shows that a hollowing out of urban area has caused the surplus of residential buildings and floor areas.
This study was performed to evaluate economic effect of the water fluoridation program in Cheong-Ju City from 1982 to 2010. To study this economic effect, this study used cost-benefit analysis methodology from eight years old to fourteen years old in Cheong-Ju City. Major findings were as follows; First, total cost of fluoridation program in Cheong-Ju City was 1,384,164,734 korean won and total benefit was 15,057,426,621 Korean won from 1982 to 2010. Second, total cost which was converted by present value 2000 year was 1,687,412,718 won and total benefit which was converted by present value 2000 year was 14,582,548,519 Korean won. Cost-benefit ratio was 8.64. Net present value which happened from 1982 to 2000 was 7,990,710,155 Korean won and cost benefit ratio was 7.47. In conclusion, by the above result, economic impact of the water fluoridation program was very effective for children in some area of Cheong-Ju city.

A phenomenon in the unplanned urban sprawl of Cheong-ju city has to be rest-rained from disposing and to develop, though progress in urbanization inevitably decreases rural area. So, this thesis aims at reviewing, revising and guiding toward the more effective land use planning practice and zoning mechanism and system of Cheong-ju city. I proposed that land use planning should be had several factors and thereupon that Korean zoning mechanism and system including Building Code should be amended because of inducing human activities in buildings and facilities not to demarcate and plan every one of them. First, the factors of urban planning are a rather diversified approach to it than a unified, supplementation of the applicable difference in time between preparing and appling it, a solid controlling system, a micro and macro planning theory and giving serious consideration for the inertia from the existing land use. Second, the applicable amendments for our zoning mechanism including Eluding Code are as follows; a need of reorganization for Zoning Ordinance appricated to different regulation concerning a scale and peculiarity of a oily, a decision of the different earmarked confinement in area to different zone ana from Zoning Ordinance in City Planning Law, a demarcated facilities and the more detailed land use concerning human activies than the exsisting and entrusting decision on the ways and processes of it to every rural city planning committee, a settlement of zone ana area considering for block-unit and Planned Unit Development(P. U. D.), and a need of security jurisprudence in order to solve the zoning regulation rather in City Planning Law than in Building Code that our zoning regulation and controlling system are depended on. According to these applicable amendments to Cheong-ju city, I proposed the conceptions of Cheong-ju city land use planning are as follows; a reinforcement with one cored pattern of urban land use, a selection of gradual urban sprawl by way of city development and renewal, a strengthening accessibility to the core of the city with Plurizing the system of arterial roads, a choice of priority to conservation at the core of tile city and security of open spaces and parking area at the area of the city, a harmonization between development and conservation at the inner ring area that is situated between the core and periphery reserved area in order to develop in the future, a buffered open space situated at the congested area with heterogenous functions, and a completion of urban open space system. The proposal made here so far is for the hope of the better structure of Cheong-ju city that should be granted to the peculiarity developed with educational, cultural, conservative and self-sufficient city functions.

Intussusception in adult is a rare disease and laparotomy is usually considered because of the probability of malignancy. Especially with obstruction symptom or sign, it might be needed emergency operation. This case was a simultaneous development of small bowel intussusception and acute hepatitis A. The patient had abdominal pain and vomiting. Intitial laboratory examination with elevated aminotransferase revealed that the diagnosis was acute hepatitis. As managing acute hepatitis, the abdominal pain was not improved and the patient had tenderness on periumbilical area on physical examination. A jejunal intussusception with a lead point was proved on the abdominal computed tomography scan. Fortunately, symptom of intussusception was relieved while nulli per os (NPO) and intravenous hydration. After recovery of acute hepatitis, laparotomy was done. The lead point was $2.5{\times}3.0cm$ sized hamartoma. This was the case that the symptom of intussusception was confused with that of acute hepatitis.
We concluded to analysis the air condition of city area in the Chungbuk province by pollutant concentration and weather survey data to used from the data of Air Pollution Monitoring System until September in 2002 from 1998. The results of this study is to prove out the pollutional phenomena and effects in the each area of Cheong-ju & Je-cheon city and to provide the basic data of comfortable environmental condition in the province. Also, we provide environmental statistical dat for the inhabitants in the province as the present condition analysis of air pollution. We got the conclusion of having air condition as clear state in Chungbuk Province from our analytical results.
These objectives of this study were to compute heavy metal and accumulation carbon dioxide fixing quantity from urban green space(street trees and urban parks) in Cheong-ju city and Chungju-city and thus to estimate the effect of urban green space for improving the urban environment. The results are summarized below. 1. Results of the total accumulation of the carbon dioxide fixing quantity of street trees, Cheong-ju city and Chungju-city street tree was 1, 230,000kg-C, 1,270,000 kg-C, respectively. Total accumulation carbon dioxide fixing quantity of Balssan urban park had a 25,000kg-C in Cheong-ju city, Degami sports park had a 6,400kg-C in Chungju-city. 2. Results of heavy metal for street trees, fell in the order Zn > Cu > Cr > Ni >, the highest accumulated heavy metal was Zn, and the lowest was Ni. Total heavy metal concentration according to land-use area, was observed in order, for residental areas(157.26 mg/kg) > industrial areas(141.71 mg/kg) > commercial areas(118.55 mg/kg) > and greenspace areas(61.95 mg/kg) in Cheong-ju city. 3. Total heavy metal concentration for street trees fell in the order of commercial areas(84.48 mg/kg) > residental areas(83.70 mg/kg) > and greenspace(48.23 mg/kg) according to land-use area in Chungju-city. Comparatively, Cheong-ju city had more total heavy metal concentration than Chungju-city. 4. Heavy metal for soil that planted street trees was observed in order of Zn > Cu > Pb( > Ni > Cr > As > Cd), and Zn was highest, and Cd was lowest. Total heavy metal concentration for soil fell in the order commercial area(91.82mg/kg) > industrial area(85.96mg/kg) > residental area(67.55mg/kg) > greenspace(43.13mg/kg) according to land-use area in Cheong-ju city. 5. Heavy metal for soil that planted street trees was observed in order of Zn > Pb > Cu( > Ni > Cr > As > Cd, and Zn was highest. Total heavy metal concentration for soil fell in the order commercial area(87.66mg/kg) > greenspace(72.73mg/kg) $${\geq_-}$$ residental area(70.10mg/kg) in Chungju-city.

Global warming and climate change have been one of the most important problems last 2 decades. Global warming is known to cause abnormal climate and influence ecology, food production and human health. According to climate change model global warming is causing expansion of drought and increase of evaporation. Therefore, securing water in agriculture has been an important issue for crop cultivation. As potato is susceptible to drought, water shortage generally results in decrease of yield and decrease of biomass. In this research, we investigated characteristics of inorganic nutrient absorption and growth of plants grown under drought condition. Plants were sampled in sites of Cheong-ju and Gangneung, where the severity of drought stress were different. During the growth period in Gangneung, total rainfall in 2016 decreased by 50% compared with those in last 5 years average. Especially, there was almost no rain in tuber enlargement period (from mid-May to mid-June). On the other hand, the total rainfall in of Cheong-ju was is similar to those in last 5 years average. Inorganic components including K, Ca and Mg and plant growth factors such as plant length, stem length, leaf area index and plant biomass were investigated. Tuber yields in both areas were investigated at harvest. Growth period of plants was is longer in Cheong-ju than that in Gangneung. Contents of all inorganic components were higher in plants grown in Cheong-ju than in Gangneung. The results were attributed to higher production of plant biomass in Cheong-ju. Considering the results, severe drought stress conditions in Gangneung accelerated plant aging and resulted in low plant growth. Although total yield was greatly reduced under drought stress the rate of commercial yield was is not significantly different with non-drought conditions.

In this study, I investigate the formation process of the American presbyterian missionary architecture in Cheong Ju area from 1900 to 1945, which we may think 'the part of Korean modern architecture'. I have examined and analyzed the 18 buildings for the sake of the interpretation with the words of formation process and characteristics . And I can put my idea in order as follows. Firstly, the formation process is 1) buy and modify a Korean style (thatch or tile roofed) building for their need and use it as a gate quaters or house, church, hospital, school, book store, 2) build a Korean style (tile roofed) building and use it-house, hospital, school, 3) build a Western style (timber structured and zinc roofed) building and use it- church, 4) build a Western style (masonry structured and tile or zinc roofed) building and use ithouse, church, school and hospital. Secondly, the characteristics is 1) In the Korean style building, the missionaries change into the function to match with their purpose. they modify the Korean style timber structure by influx of building material-brick, glass, carpet etc. they occupy into the Korean existing residential area. 2) In the Western style building, the missionaries build the house correspond with their living pattern. they build the church with the eclectic of Western and Korean timber frame. and also build the house and hospital with the eclectic of Western and Korean masonry structure. their building located in the isolate hill separated from the existing Korean residential area.
Purpose: The purpose of this study is to present basic data which would be applied on the early stage of the architectural design. And that determines the introduction of the atrium by comparing and analysing the environmental performance of atrium building. Method: The building forms are classified into low storied building, middle storied building and high storied building. This study compares and analyses energy performance of the standard building without atrium and the atrium building which has one-side, two-side, three-side, four-side, and linear atrium by measuring of annual heating and cooling load with EnergyPlus. Result: As a result of the analysis of the relative annual heating and cooling load by building type, it is shown that the fluctuation of cooling load in low storied building is large because heat storage in atrium affects building, and the fluctuation of heating load in high storied building is large owing to the effect of external wall area of atrium which makes heat loss. Especially, it indicated the largest annual heating and cooling load in four-side atrium of low storied building, and in one-side atrium of high storied building.

Trace amount of heavy metals in rain waters were determined after preconcentration by coprecipitaion technique. Indium was selected as a coprecipitating reagent and concentrated heavy metals were analyzed by a conventional AA spectrometer. Two areas, Cheng-Won and Tae-Ahn, were selected and comparison. The concentrations of Pb and Cd in Cheong-Won (raural) area were 14.3 .pm. 8.0 ppb and 2.77 .pm. 5.37 ppb, respectively. These values are higher than those of Tae-Ahn, which indicates that even a rural area is polluted by a nearly industrial area (Cheong-Ju). The isotope ratios of lead in rainwaters were very similar to theos of aerosol particles.
