  • The selective chemical degradation or etching of PET based on an organic amine attack on the ester group. The techniques involves the chemical removal of loss ordered amorphous regions or crystalline regions, which are essentially unaffected by the degradative etchant. Thus, most of previous studies have limited to consideration which has been given to structural changes taking place. Therefore, this study was carried out to investigate surface characterization, dyeing properties of PET film hydrazinolyzed with hydrazine hydrate in methanol. PET film was treated with 30% hydrazine hydrate in methanol at $30^\circ{C}$ for various time intervals. The total surface tension of treated PET increased, the dispersion force decreased and the hydrogen bonding force increased. The equilibrium dye adsorption, dyeing rate and apparent diffusion coefficient of acid dyes increased, and the apparent activation energies of diffusion decreased.

  • Entomogenous fungi which attack living insects are powerful means for microbiological insecticide. The purpose of this study is to establish the culture conditions and media for mass production of Beauveria sp. C208 which has a broad host range as a potential microbiological pesticide. The temperature and pH range for optimal cultivation of this strain were 28$circ$C and pH 5.0-7.0. For Beauveria sp. C 208, 2% rice straw and 0.6% tryptone were found as the proper carbon and nitrogen sources, considering cell mass, enzyme activities such as chitinase, protease and lipase, and spore concentration.

  • The alkaline hydrolysis of alkyl alkylphosphinate and alkyl phenylphosphinates have been studied at room temperature. The hydrolysis proceeded as an one-stage reaction($S_{N}$ 2) and involved a nucleophilic attack of the hydroxyl ion on the phosphorus atom. And the length of the alkoxy group in the phosphinate esters affected on hydrolysis. Therefore, the alkaline hydrolysis may be used as a method to decompose the chemical agents.

  • This study is to develop a new synthetic method for the nitroarenes via non-electrophilic substitution. Direct nitration at the C-1 position of isoquinoline has never been reported and substitution in isoquinoline under the normal nitration condition occurs at C-5 and C-8. We have demonstrated a facile one-step sythetic method for the nitration of isoquinolines at the C-1 position, which involves the electrophilic attack of a $DMSO-Ac_2O$ complex, followed by nucleophilic addition of nitrate ion to this intermediate. Since the reaction is simple and mild, this method has preparative merit since 1-nitroisoquinolines are not readily accessible by other methods. Application to the synthesis of poly nitroarenes from the corresponding anilines was also described.

  • The paper considers a theoretical model for the study of the process of transfer of sulfate ions in saturated porous media - mineral composites. In its turn, the model treats diffusion of sulfate ions into cement based composites, accounting for simultaneous effects such as filling of micro-capillaries with ions and chemical products and liquid push out of them. The proposed numerical algorithm enables one to account for those simultaneous effects, as well as to model the diffusive behavior of separate sections of the considered volume, such as inert fillers. The cases studied illustrate the capabilities of the proposed model and those of the algorithm developed to study diffusion, considering the specimen complex configuration. Computations show that the theoretical assumptions enable one to qualitatively estimate the experimental evidence and the capabilities of the studied composite. The results found can be used to both assess the sulfate corrosion in saturated systems and predict and estimate damage of structures built of cement-based mineral composites.

  • The nucleophilic substitution reactions of diisopropyl chlorophosphate (3) with substituted anilines ($XC_6H_4NH_2$) and deuterated anilines ($XC_6H_4ND_2$) are investigated kinetically in acetonitrile at $55.0^{\circ}C$. The anilinolysis rate of 3 is rather slow to be rationalized by the conventional stereoelectronic effects. The obtained deuterium kinetic isotope effects (DKIEs; $k_H/k_D$) are secondary inverse ($k_H/k_D$ = 0.71-0.95) with maximum magnitude at X = H.A concerted mechanism involving predominant backside nucleophilic attack is proposed on the basis of the secondary inverse DKIEs.

The obtained deuterium kinetic isotope effects (DKIEs; $k_H/k_D$) are primary normal ($k_H/k_D$ = 1.11-1.35). A concerted mechanism involving predominant frontside nucleophilic attack is proposed on the basis of the primary normal DKIEs and selectivity parameters. Hydrogen bonded, four-center-type transition state is proposed. The steric effects of the two ligands on the anilinolysis rates of various substrates are discussed.

  • Present work comprises of synthesis various analogues of ciprofloxacin by introducing new functionality at carboxylic group position via ester aminolysis reaction. For this purpose the carboxylic group at C-3 was esterified and later subjected to nucleophilic attack at the carbonyl carbon by various aromatic amines. Structure of the analogues was confirmed by different techniques i.e. IR, $^1H$ NMR and mass spectrometry. The antibacterial activity of the derivatives was also assessed with the parent against a series of Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria. The synthesized compounds showed diverse antimicrobial profile among which most compounds possessed a comparable or better activity in comparison to the ciprofloxacin. Additionally unlike ciprofloxacin, some of the derivatives were also found to show antifungal activity.

  • In this study, when ground granulated blast-furnace slag is intermixed to mortar, the strength test, watertightness test, resistance to chemical attack of hardened mortar are compared and analyzed according to the replacement rate of slag. w/(cc+Bs) and Ground Granulated Blast-furnace slag. As a result, compared with ordinary portland cement, ground granulated blast-furnace slag intermixed concrete shows development of a long term strength, chemical-resistance, and excellent watertightness.

  • The cement pastes, mortar and concrete specimens were immersed in artificial seawater and five kinds of chemical solution and tested the change of compressive strength and weight. The reaction products and microstructure were looked over by using X-ray, SEM and EDS. The results show that the formation of ettingite and gypsum because of penetration of ${SO_4}^{2-}$ ion are the reason for deterioration in sulfuric acid and sulphate solution. In the chlorid solution, it is found that the attack of $Cl^-$ ion on the concrete plays an important role of the deterioration of concrete.
