  • Recently it is a tendency that the use of the heavy fuel oil is investigated even from the middle&small class vessel in order to reduce the operating cost of vessel caused by with rise of international gas price. In this study, analyzed the physical & chemical properties and examined the effect of refining treatment and a fuel oil additive for MF30 fuel oil which is a mixture fuel oil mixed M.G.O and the heavy oil MF380 use to be possible in the middle&small class vessel. As a results, the effects of two of pre-refinery treatment methods as centrifugal purifier and heating & homogenizing system(M.C.H) are some feeble, but the pour point and the flash point came to be low more or less. The effect of property improvement which is caused by with the fuel oil additive did not appear positively.

  • The use of lithium metal anode at lithium metal secondary battery can provide the very high energy density. Nevertheless, there are some problems that are short cycle life, lack of safety and poor thermal stability. Cycle life and cycling efficiency decline due to passivating films, dendritic lithium and increasing surface film by the reaction of lithium metal and electrolyte. This work investigated the additive effect of benzene, toluene, tetram-ethylethylenediamine, into the electrolyte. The cycling efficiency and cyclability are improved. The reason is confirmed by decreasing film resistance and increasing polarization resistance at AC impedance analysis. Electrolyte additive has a relatively less reactivity than electrolytes lithium and is adsorbed on lithium leading to suppression of the reaction between the electrolyte and lithium as well as an improvement in the lithium deposition mophology.

Isolation and Identification of an Unauthorized Tadalafil Analogue in a Commercial Functional Food (시판 기능성식품으로부터의 타다라필 유도체 부정첨가물질의 분리 및 구조규명)

  • High-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) screening method revealed that a propolis product marketed as a functional food contained an undeclared substance similar to tadalafil, the active ingredient of the prescription drug Cialis$^{(R)}$ approved for the treatment of male erectile dysfunction. In order to identify the illegal additive, the propolis product was extracted with methylene chloride, and the extract was purified further using semipreparative HPLC. The chemical structure of the isolated substance was elucidated based on IR, LC/MS-ESI, and $^1H$- and $^{13}C$-NMR spectroscopy, which showed the characteristics similar to tadalafil. The only difference was the substitution of the methyl group at the piperazinedione ring of tadalafil to the amino group of the identified illegal additive.

Property Improvement of YBCO Thick films by EPD with Addition of PEG (PEG 첨가에 의한 YBCO 전착후막의 특성 향상)

  • The electrophoretic deposition method using the suspension solution with additives under the electric potential was applied for the fabrication of YBCO superconductor wire. This method was able to simplify the fabrication facilities, and produce an uniform and dense thick film. To improve the critical current density of deposited films, the additive PEGs(Poly Ethylene Glycole) with the molecular weight of 600, 1000 and 3400 were used as chemical binders for the suspension solution. The organic additive (PEG) showed better effects to the properties of YBCO superconductor wire. The PEG improved the adhesion between superconductor particles and suppressed the crack on the surface, which enhanced the surface uniformity and density of YBCO deposited film. It was found that acetone suspension solution showed better deposition properties than the others. The samples fabricated in the solution with the additive, 8 vol.% of 1% PEG(1000), showed the highest critical current density measured as 2300∼2400 A/$\textrm{cm}^2$ at 77 K, 0 T.

  • In this study, we studied the enhancement of the energy densities of electrochemical capacitors by improving the working voltage range of the electrolyte. To prevent the decomposition of the electrolyte, stable SEI layers were formed by reductive degradation of additive materials such as fluoro-ethylene carbonate (FEC) and vinyl ethylene carbonate (VEC) before degradation of the base electrolyte. As a result, the solution resistance (Rs) of EC:DMC + SL 20 % + VEC 1 % electrolytes observed 1.47 Ω and the charge transfer resistance (Rct) was 2.64 Ω at the open circuit voltage. Additionally, a cycle retention of 94 % was observed for EC:DMC + SL 20 % + VEC 1 % after 500 cycles at 3.5 V.

  • $LiNi_xCo_yMn_zO_2$ cathode materials have been the focus of much attention because of their high specific capacity. However, because of the poor interfacial stability between cathodes and electrolytes, the cycling performance of these materials fades rapidly, especially at high temperatures. In the present paper, we propose the use of tris(trimethylsilyl) phosphate (TMSPO), which contains phosphate and silyl functional groups, as a functional additive in electrolytes. The addition of TMSPO resulted in the formation of cathode electrolyte interphase (CEI) layers on the surfaces of the cathodes and effectively suppressed electrolyte decomposition reactions, even at high temperatures. As a result, cells cycled with TMSPO exhibited remarkable capacity, which remained after 50 cycles (82.0%), compared to cells cycled without TMSPO (64.6%).

  • Before investigating the performance of NA-Q additive oil, we have studied the properties of the commercial reference oil by using an engine dynamometer. Experimemts were conducted for 300 hours with 2,950rpm and 22kw and every 50 hours the used oil was sampled for analyzing its physical and chemical propreties. The reference oil shows stable but slightly increasing viscosities during the experiment. It has good agreements with the change of its TAN and TBN. Friction coefficients and anti-wear characteristics are compared with its ZDTP depletion factor and the diameters of wear scar. The concentrations of metal particles are analyzed with the results of ICP and spectrometer, However it is found that the concentrations by filtration method shows large difference with those by standard method in spectrometer.

  • The polyoxyethylene compounds were added into the photographic emulsion during the physical ripening of photo sensitive silver halide crystal in this emulsion. The polyoxyethylene compounds improved the photographic properties of the film to a great extent increasing the photo sensitivity and decreasing the fog density.

  • Alkyl and alkenyl substituent effects on nonbonded interactions of hexatriene were examined using CNDO/2 method. The results showed that: (1) rapid rate of thermal electrocyclization of 3-vinyl hexa-1, 3, 5-triene is due to increased overlap population between atom pair reacting resulting from strong electron repelling interaction of vinly group on the triene moiety; (2) stability of a conformer is determined by additive effect of composite ${\pi}$ structures; (3) a substituent on positions 2 and 3 increases the HOMO AO coefficient of sites 1 and 4 considerably and activates interactions with these sites.
