  • Although the number of adolescents with complicated problems and needs has increased, there has been a limited service for this population. In addition, a traditional social service could not alleviate the problems. In order to provide an alternative to a traditional social service to this population, the wraparound model is reviewed and explored. The study presents a review of literature on wraparound and social work via EBSOCO. By reviewing 12 articles on the subject, the study discovers 3 topics, such as (1) youth with various problems, (2) general characteristics of wraparound, and (3) evidence-based practice and wraparound. Based on 3 topics, the study also discusses the feasibility of wraparound service in Korea.

  • This study aims to functionally classify lexical bundles appearing in academic papers on nuclear science and engineering written in English and then analyze the lexical bundles' characteristics compared to those appearing in general academic papers. To this end, the texts of nuclear science and engineering papers were collected and produced as a corpus(c. 1 mil. tokens). Then they were statistically compared through Chi-square tests and standardized residuals with the corpus of general academic papers(c. 750,000 tokens). The results revealed that, compared to general academic papers, the bundles in the stance lexical bundle category were mainly used among the functional lexical bundle in nuclear science and engineering. The use of the lexical bundles lacked much variety. The same type of lexical bundles was 're-used' and 'recycled'. Based on these research results, educational implications for English for Academic Purposes and the further direction of follow-up research were discussed and suggested.

  • In opportunistic networks, each message is delivered to the destination by repeating, storing, carrying, and forwarding the message. Recently, with the vitalization of social networks, a large number of existing articles have shown performance improvement when delivering the message and considering its social relational networks. However, these works only deliver messages when they find nodes, assuming that every node cooperates with each other unconditionally. Moreover, they only consider the number of short-term contacts and local social relations, but have not considered each node's average relation with the destination node. In this paper, we propose novel message sending techniques for opportunistic networks using nodes' social network characteristics. In this scheme, each message is delivered to the destination node with fewer copies by delivering it mostly through nodes that have high intimacy with the destination node. We are showing that our proposed scheme presents a 20% performance increase compared to existing schemes.

  • The characteristics of citation and centrality measures in citation networks can be identified using multiple linear regression analyses. In this study, we examine the relationships between bibliometric indices and centrality measures in an article-level co-citation network to determine whether the linear model is the best fitting model and to suggest the necessity of data transformation in the analysis. 703 highly cited articles in Physics published in 2004 were sampled, and four indicators were developed as variables in this study: citation counts, degree centrality, closeness centrality, and betweenness centrality in the co-citation network. As a result, the relationship pattern between citation counts and degree centrality in a co-citation network fits a non-linear rather than linear model. Also, the relationship between degree and closeness centrality measures, or that between degree and betweenness centrality measures, can be better explained by non-linear models than by a linear model. It may be controversial, however, to choose non-linear models as the best-fitting for the relationship between closeness and betweenness centrality measures, as this result implies that data transformation may be a necessary step for inferential statistics.

  • It has been said that Gwangjudream, nevertheless a free press, plays a role as a local press that it should be, in a situation that other local papers do not. This study aims to reveal the forces that influence the article production of Gwangjudream, and to examine the interrelations between them, through using the methods of participant observations and depth interviews. In this course, it is eventually purpose of providing more deep understandings on the present circumstances and problems of the local papers and having a chance to concern the concrete ways to enhance them. This study results in revealing the five forces that primarily influence the article production of Gwangjudream: 1) as a historical force, keeping the spirit of the first publication that look forward to playing a role as a local press that it sound be, 2) as an individual force, the habitus of its members that is critical of mainstream society and culture, 3) as an organizational force, non-hierarchical culture and the independence of the editorial rights, 4) as a habitual force, the deny of beat system, 5) as an economical force, the power of sponsors, financial poorness, and the competition for attracting subscribers. While the historical force and the individual force play a role as fundamental circumstances and the organizational force and the habitual force as practical circumstances for producing articles, they encourage to emerge the characteristics of the articles that are related to citizens' everyday life and reflect locality, and criticize and keep an eye on government and other public offices. However, the economical force provides the circumstances that weaken the characteristics of Gwangjudream. The results of this study question the perspective to overly regard it as coming from their economical weakness that the local newspaper do not play a role as a local press that it should be.
