  • We make an interference analysis to obtain a critical ctiteria for coexisting availability of WLAN and WiBro between adjacent channels can be used in TVWS(TV White Space). To meet this analysis, we set the various transmission parameters including the emission and blocking mask, antenna height and gain, transmission power and bandwidth, channel model etc. And, based on these parameters, we analyze on performances according to a variation of guard band, a number of service user and allowable transmit power of the user operating in the adjacent channels. In this paper, we consider a urban environment and apply a Extended Hata-SRD for WLAN and an interference link and Extended Hata model for WiBro, respectively. With these results, we can see how each system can be shared in an adjacent channel.

  • The characteristics of environmentally friendly block, roughness, erosion, stability and dissolved oxygen(DO) were investigated by hydraulic experiment. It was found that the roughness of A-block was lower than I block and A block was more stable to the variation of flow. So it is expected that A-block will be more effective to the channel flow. It was also found that the erosion of channel bed was very small or rarely occurred and stable in the case of 3-dimensional A-block filled with sand. And 3-dimensional A-blocks assembled with A-blocks were more stable against the flow force than I block because of the united force of A-blocks. When the bed of channel was paved with 3-dimensional A-blocks, DO was increased higher than I block. So it is expected that A-block will be more advantageous to underwater environment than I block.

  • The rainfall runoff is drained through sewerage outlet at urban area. But, there is no guideline or standard to install sewerage outlet, so the sewerage outlet are designed or installed by discretion of engineers or constructors. In this paper, for the sake of supporting basic data to design, it would be suggested a guideline for less influenced to flow at the channel flow condition through hydraulic experiment by variation of lateral inflow discharge, sewerage outlet projecting part, sewerage outlet direction and position. Through 10 cases of experiments, it would be less influenced two sewerage outlet at up and down stream than one installed at up or down stream even though the same discharge. And installed conditions which are installed angle and protecting part will be influenced to increase water depth and to decrease velocity at upstream. So when sewerage outlet is installed, it would be try to find a installing way to be less influence with more careful.

  • In this paper, we have investigated the CDMA(Code Division Multiple Access) Cellular System with non-linear equalizer in reverse link channel. In general, due to unknown characteristics of channel in the wireless communication, the distribution of the observables cannot be specified by a finite set of parameters; instead, we partitioned the m-dimensional sample space Into a finite number of disjointed regions by using quantiles and a vector quantizer based on training samples. The algorithm proposed is based on a piecewise approximation to regression function based on quantiles and conditional partition moments which are estimated by Robbins Monro Stochastic Approximation (RMSA) algorithm. The resulting equalizers and detectors are robust in the sense that they are insensitive to variations in noise distributions. The main idea is that the robust equalizers and robust partition detectors yield better performance in equiprobably partitioned subspace of observations than the conventional equalizer in unpartitioned observation space under any condition. And also, we apply this idea to the CDMA system and analyze the BER performance.

  • In this paper, a system for real-time or periodic measurement and analysis of RF parameters such as forward transmit power and pilot power in CDMA base station systems is proposed. Such RF characteristic parameter measurement can be prevented from system fault and used to achieve optimal service quality and maximum investment return through cell coverage expansion, subscriber capacity increase and so on. For forward power measurement, the local oscillator frequency for the detector is varied so that the transmit power for all channels can be measured. The channel power measurement can be used to analyze the variation in transmit power for changes in voice traffic. By comparing to forward $E_c/I_o$, the pilot channel power can be deducted, which can be used to determine uy degradation in transmit section modules such as the high dover amplifier. Since an accurate analysis of carefully measured data using the CDMA level detector must be made, the system is designed so that measurement errors due to changes in crest factor with modulation method can be overcome.

  • In order to investigate interannual variation of total ozone and reflectivity over the globe, Nimbus-7/TOMS data were used on the monthly mean and its anomaly for the period of 1979-92. This study also examined MSU channel 4(Ch4; lower-stratosphere) brightness temperature data and two model reanalyses of NCEP and GEOS to compare the ozone variation with atmospheric thermal condition. In addition, the MSU channel 1(Ch1 ; lower-troposphere) brightness temperature was used to compare with the reflectivity. The ozone showed strong annual cycle with downward trend(-6.3${\pm}$0.6 DU/decade) over the globe, and more distinct response to volcanic eruption than El Ni${\tilde{n}$o. The relationship between total ozone and MSU Ch4 observation, and between the ozone and model reanalyses of lower stratosphere temperature showed positive correlation(0.2-0.7) during the period of 1980-92. Reflectivity increased interannually by 0.2${\pm}$0.06%/decade over the globe during the above period and reflected El Ni${\tilde{n}$o(1982-83, 1991-92) well. Its variability in annual cycle was remarkably smaller in tropics than in higher latitudes. This is inferred due to cloud suppression and tropical upwelling regions. Reflectivity correlated negatively(-0.9) to the Ch1 temperature over the globe, but positively(0.2) over tropical ocean. The positive value over the ocean results from the effect of microwave emissivity which increases the Ch1 temperature with enhanced hydrometeor activity. Significant correlations between total ozone and the Ch4 temperature, and between reflectivity and the Ch1 Suggest that the TOMS data may use valuably to better understand the feedback mechanism of climate change.

  • We conducted a three-dimensional numerical simulation by using the FLOW-3D, with RANS as the governing equation, in an effort to track the dam-break wave.immediately after a dam break.in areas surrounding where the dam break took place as well as the bed change caused by the dam-break wave. In particular, we computed the bed change in the movable bed and compared the variation in flood wave induced by the bed change with our analysis results in the fixed bed. The analysis results can be summarized as follows: First, the analysis results on the flood wave in the L-shaped channel and on the flood wave and bed change in the movable-bed channel successfully reproduce the findings of the hydraulic experiment. Second, the concentration of suspended sediment is the highest in the front of the flood wave, and the greatest bed change is observed in the direct downstream of the dam where the water flow changes tremendously. Generated in the upstream of the channel, suspended sediment results in erosion and sedimentation alternately in the downstream region. With the arrival of the flood wave, erosion initially prove predominant in the inner side of the L-shaped bend, but over time, it tends to move gradually toward the outer side of the bend. Third, the flood wave in the L-shaped channel with a movable bed propagates at a slower pace than that in the fixed bed due to the erosion and sedimentation of the bed, leading to a remarkable increase in flood water level.

  • Thin-film-transistors (TFTs) that can be prepared at low temperatures have attracted much attention because of the great potential for transparent and flexible electronics. One of the mainstreams in this field is the use of organic semiconductors such as pentacene. But device performance of the organic TFTs is still limited due to low field-effect mobility and rapid degradation after exposing to air. Alternative approach is the use of amorphous oxide semiconductors as a channel. Amorphous oxide semiconductors (AOSs) based TFTs showed the fast technological development, because AOS films can be fabricated at room temperature and exhibit the possibility in application like flexible display, electronic paper, and larges solar cells. Among the various AOSs, a-IGZO has lots of advantages because it has high channel mobility, uniform surface roughness and good transparency. [1] The high mobility is attributed to the overlap of spherical s-orbital of the heavy post-transition metal cations. This study demonstrated the effect of the variation in channel thickness from 30nm to 200nm on the TFT device performance. When the thickness was increased, turn-on voltage and subthreshold swing was decreased. The a-IGZO channels and source/drain metals were deposited with shadow mask. The a-IGZO channel layer was deposited on $SiO_2$/p-Si substrates by RF magnetron sputtering, where RF power is 150W. And working pressure is 3m Torr, at $O_2/Ar$ (2/28 sccm) atmosphere. The electrodes were formed with electron-beam evaporated Ti (30 nm) and Au (70 nm) bilayer. Finally, Al (150nm) as a gate metal was thermal-evaporated. TFT devices were heat-treated in a furnace at 250 $^{\circ}C$ and nitrogen atmosphere for 1hour. The electrical properties of the TFTs were measured using a probe-station. The TFT with channel thickness of 150nm exhibits a good subthreshold swing (SS) of 0.72 V/decade and on-off ratio of $1{\times}10^8$. The field effect mobility and threshold voltage were evaluated as 7.2 and 8 V, respectively.

  • In this study, a heat-transfer performance analysis is carried out for a multi-channel volumetric air receiver for a solar power tower. On the basis of a series of reviews regarding the relevant literature, a calculation process is proposed for the prediction of the wall- and air- temperature distributions of a single channel at given geometric and input conditions. Furthermore, a unique mathematical model of the receiver effectiveness is presented through analysis of the temperature profile. The receiver is made of silicon carbide. A total of 225 square straight channels per module are molded to induce the air flow, and each channel has the dimensions of $2mm(W){\times}2mm(H){\times}0.2mm(t){\times}320mm(L)$. The heat-transfer rate, temperature distribution and effectiveness are presented according to the variation of the channel and module number under uniform irradiation and mass flow rate. The available air outlet temperature applied to the solar power tower should be over $700^{\circ}C$. This numerical model was actually used in the design of a 200 kW-level commercial solar air receiver, and the required number of modules satisfying the thermal performance could be obtained for the specified geometric and input conditions.

  • Underwater acoustic communication channel is often defined as a multipath fading channel since the multipath arrivals from various paths interfere with each other and cause frequency dependent constructive or destructive interference in received signals. Therefore signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) of received signal fluctuates as a function of frequency. In addition, sea surface fluctuation induces frequency dependent time variant signal fading due to coherent component variation of surface bounce path. The frequency shift keying (FSK) system is known to be less sensitive and more robust under these interference and fading, and M-ary frequency shift keying (MFSK) system is adopted to increase a data rate. In this study, a bit error rate (BER) of 4 channels 4FSK system are examined in shallow sea multipath channel. Experimental results show that RS code reduces efficiently the BER of 4FSK system since frequency dependent time-varying fading is characterized to give burst errors. The BER of a different data rate or different source-to-receiver range depends on not only the channel coherent bandwidth but also frequency dependent multipath fading.
