  • The AS9100 aerospace standard has become the aerospace quality management system standard instead of ISO9001 and MIL-Q-9858A by international aerospace manufacturing companies. The organization which adopts AS9100 standard is to be certified by an independent third party certification body as IAQG requests. The quality management system certification assessor shall utilize the AS9101 standard prepared by IAQG to assess AS9100 organization. In this paper, AS9101 quality system questionnaire is analyzed and scoring method which characterizes AS9101 is reviewed. Score attained can be utilized as an organizational quality index. Practical data gathered by certified assessors from 2002 to 2007 are analyzed and suggested to improve the organization's system operational efficiency based on the analysis results. Suggestions can be utilized by any organization to prepare assessment or to enhance the level of quality system maturity. This study is applicable to the future as well as present aerospace manufacturing activities throughout the world.

  • Web-based services have fundamentally confidential problems due to characteristics of internet environment such as anonymity. These problems are serious obstacles to grow the web-based services. The security and confidence of web-based services rely on both service provider and users' opinion. But the former has difficulty in trusting the service provider and the latter takes too long time to propagete all users after converging their opinion. Therefore it is necessary to establish the objective and confidential evaluation and certification program for web-based service. In this paper, the internal and external web-based services evaluation and certification programs are compared and analyzed. The critical factors and evaluation methodology for secure and confidential web-based service are identified. Finally, this paper provides the improvement and strategy for web-based services evaluation and certification program.

  • The purpose of this study is the necessity of collaboration, equilibrium or the differences of examination items about certification system which is focused on products, such as KS, formal approval, and ISO 9000 family, QS 9000, etc, for Quality management system. We make expert group control this problem. Also we make examination items to be united. And the differences of certification body and personnel necessary is dissolved by proper instruction. Examination process and corrective maintenance should be improved by clarity, fairness and reliability. Problems through preparation for certification and certified company should be focused on reform of consciousness of top management and continuous instruction. And desirable solution for mutual certification problem and others should be found by information interchange system of international cooperation.

  • This study was carried out to examine the perceptions of consumers and forest product manufacturers in South Korea about forest certification and to identify their willingness-to-pay for certified products by personal interviews. Sixteen percent of interviewees knew and heard about forest certification. However, fifty-six percent of interviewees had an intention to participate in forest certification system. The consumers' group can be described in relative terms as the male of 30 age bracket. The average price premium charged to consumers was higher than one paid to manufacturers, and thus manufacturers are willing to include the additional costs for certified products.

  • This study was conducted to provide sustainable measures for conservation and management to protect valuable natural/ecological resources, offer differentiated quality assurance services for eco-tourism products, and explore measures for eco-tourism certification/designation systems. To achieve its goals, the study discussed domestic and overseas trends and literatures that concern eco-tourism certification/designation system and investigated case studies that were presently operational. A group of experts and a group of non-experts were surveyed separatedly to investigate the awareness of the national eco-tourism certification/designation system. The results from the investigation indicate that Europe, since the late 1990s to early 2000, has actively introduced a system that establishes and operates a dedicated institution, and European members have created a cooperation framework to formulate international partnerships and develop standardized assessment benchmarks to adhere to the goals of the system, the period for certification was designated from one year to five years, and renewals were granted based on periodic monitoring and reassessment. In Korea, from early 2000, the Ministry of Culture, Sorts and Tourism and other organizations have certified product quality and assessed travel products and national park tour programs. The certification period was established to be set between one and three years, and the vast majority were not reassessed. Upon investigating the results for awareness of national eco-tourism certification/designation system, a high number of respondents agreed with the need to establish a eco-tourism certification/designation system (90% of respondents), and the respondents cited eco-tourism quality assurance, conservation of value, means to maintain established institutions, and environmental education and information as reasons for needing a certification/designation system. In Korea, a certification/designation system for the eco-tourism industry is presently in operation, but the system regulates target institutions based on their characteristics. Therefore, this study proposes its suggestions via various categories, including designated institutions, designated purpose, designated subjects, designated organization, laws, regulations, and incentives.

  • Advanced nations such as US and Europe have recognized the importance of the aircraft airworthiness and have been operating airworthiness certification system by their government since long time ago. In Korea, airworthiness certification personnel education program has been proceeding, since certification system of military aircraft airworthiness has been legislated. On this study, education course, education content for each course, education operating method and license management related to airworthiness certification personnel education and drew out adequate plan for domestic circumstance through studying aviation advanced nations cases. The proposed education course is divided into basic course, professional course and retraining course, considering its level of education and operation of education course has been recommended to a professional education institute designated by korea government and proposed to acquire authorized certificate for those who completed the education course. We hope to improve the method proposed as a result of the study such as education content, operating program, license management systematically and efficiently as years go by to develop into leading nation for airworthiness certification education and increase the benefit and confidence of nation.

  • Crane is an important equipment for the transport of heavy goods in industrial sites, but it is also known as one of the most fatal machines. In order to reduce crane accidents, it is necessary to minimize human errors during crane operations. To achieve this, ergonomic design principles are recommended to be reflected from the crane design stage. The study analyzed the safety certification standards for crane that should be fulfilled at the crane design and manufacturing stage. This study selected five representative ergonomic design principles (feedback, compatibility, consistency, full-proof, and fail-safe) by surveying heuristic evaluation principles that are widely used for usability evaluation in early design stage. Next, the principles were applied to the safety certification standards to identify insufficient clauses. This study identified 12 insufficient clauses out of 119 in the current safety certification standards for crane and discussed their improvement directions to comply the ergonomic principles. The analysis results of this study can help of improving the safety certification standards and the method used in this study can also be applied to identify insufficient clauses in the safety certification standards for other industrial machines such as press machine and lift.

  • As Internet usage is rapidly spreading, tasks that were only possible offline are now available in cyber space but at the same time, new security threats such as hacking and viruses have also increased. For that reason, Comprehensive and methodical information security systems are therefore required in enterprises and organizations. Consequently, the Information Security Management System certification system has been in effect in Korea since July 2001. As of December 2012, 130 enterprises have been certified, and more than 120 ISO27001 certifications have been issued. As such, since the introduction of the ISMS certification system in Korea, the demand for the certification has been steadily increasing, and it is now recognized as an integral part of maintaining the competitiveness in an enterprise. However, the qualitative aspects of certification regarding the effectiveness of ISMS have been continuously questioned by actual customers. In order to clarify the situation and remove such doubts, this study will substantiate the fact that development and certification of ISMS positively affect the business performance of enterprises so that they will recognize the effect of obtaining ISMS certification and eventually prevent security accidents and improve their business performance by developing ISMS.
