Fabrication of Transparent Conducting Thin Film with High Hardness by Wet Process (습식 공정법에 의한 고경도 투명 전도막 제조)

  • Transparent Ag nanowire conducting thin films with high surface hardness were fabricated by bar coating method. When coating speed was changed from 35 mm/sec to 50 mm/sec, the transmittance of coated glass increased from 65.3% to 80.8% in visible light range and the surface resistance was changed from $10.1{\Omega}/sq$ to $23.3{\Omega}/sq$. The surface hardness and adhesion of thin film were 5H and 5B.

Fabrication of Transparent Color Coating Glass by Sol-gel Method (솔-젤법을 이용한 투명 칼라 코팅유리 제조)

  • Transparent color coating films were fabricated on a glass substrate by using sol-gel hybrid binder and organic dye. Sol-gel hybrid binder coating film fabricated with PTMS of 0.03 mole showed a very high pencil hardness of 9 H. As the withdrawal speed increased from 1.0 mm/s to 5.0 mm/sec, The yellowness ($b^*$) of coating glass also gradually increased. The transmittance of yellow color coating glass was 82.6% and the haze of coating glass was 0.35%. Red and blue color coating glasses also showed the high transmittance of 62.4% and 80.6% respectively. The surface hardness of color coating films was 6 H.

Comparison of the Viscosity of Ceramic Slurries using a Rotational Rheometer and a Vibrational Viscometer (회전형 레오미터와 진동형 점도계를 이용한 세라믹 슬러리의 점도 비교)

  • The viscosity of a ceramic slurry depends on the slurry concentration, particle shape and size, hydrodynamic interactions, temperature, shear rate, pre-treatment condition and the method of measurement with the selected equipment. Representative ceramic slurries with low to high viscosity levels are selected from colloidal silica, barium titanate slurry and glass frit paste. Rotational rheometers and vibrational viscometers are used to compare the measured viscosity for various ceramic slurries. The rotational rheometer measured the viscosity according to the change of the shear rate or the rotational speed. On the other hand, the vibrational viscometer measured one point of the viscosity in a fixed vibrational mode. The rotational rheometer allows the measurement of the viscosity of a ceramic paste with a viscosity higher than 100,000 cP, while the vibrational viscometer provides an easy and quick method to measure the viscosity without deformation of the ceramic slurry due to the measurement method. It is necessary to select suitable equipment with which to measure the viscosity depending on the purpose of the measurement.

Effects of A-site Vacancies on the Piezoelectric Properties of 0.97Bi0.5+x(Na0.78K0.22)0.5-3xTiO3-0.03LaFeO3 Lead-free Piezoelectric Ceramics (A-site Vacancy가 0.97Bi0.5+x(Na0.78K0.22)0.5-3xTiO3-0.03LaFeO3 무연압전 세라믹스의 압전특성에 미치는 영향)

  • $0.97Bi_{0.5+x}(Na_{0.78}K_{0.22})_{0.5-3x}TiO_3-0.03LaFeO_3$ lead-free piezoelectric ceramics were fabricated by a solid state reaction method. $LaFeO_3$ additives were added to $Bi_{0.5}(Na_{0.78}K_{0.22})_{0.5}TiO_3$ for volatile compensation of bismuth and sodium ions in the sintering process. To create A-site vacancies, the mole ratio and charge valence of A-site ions ($Bi^{3+}$, $Na^+$ and $K^+$) were controlled. The improved piezoelectric properties were observed by addition of $LaFeO_3$ and control of A-site vacancies. In particular, a $d_{33}^*(S_{max}/E_{max})$ value of 614pm/V and an electric field induced strain of 0.33% was observed in $0.97Bi_{0.505}(Na_{0.78}K_{0.22})_{0.485}TiO_3-0.03LaFeO_3$ ceramic.

  • The synthesis behavior of nanoporous silica aerogel in the macroporous ceramic structure was observed using TEOS as a source material and glycerol as a DCCA(dry control chemical additive). Silica aerogel in the macroporous ceramic structure were synthesized through a sono-gel process. The wet gel in the macroporous ceramic structure were aged in ethanol for 72 h at $50^{\circ}C$. The aged wet gel was dried under supercritical drying condition. The addition of glycerol has a role of giving the uniform pore size distribution. The reproducibility of aerogel in the macroporous ceramic was improved in the glycerol(0.05 mol%) added to the silica sol and TEOS : $H_2O$=1 : 12.

  • Glass systems based on Ca, Sr, Ba, and Zn modified alumino-boro silicates were investigated in order to improve the dielectric and mechanical properties of a typical LTCC (low temperature co-fired ceramic) which was developed for high frequency highly-integrated modules. The glass was prepared by a typical melting procedure and then mixed with cordierite fillers to fabricate glass/ceramic composite-type LTCC materials. The amount of cordierite filler was fixed at 50 volumetric%. For an optimal glass composition of 7.5% CaO, 7.5% BaO, 5% ZnO, 10% $Al_2O_3$, 30% $B_2O_3$, and 40% $SiO_2$ in mole ratio, the resultant LTCC composite showed a dielectric constant of 5.8 and a dielectric loss ($tan{\delta}$) of 0.0009 after firing at $900^{\circ}C$. An average bending strength of 160MPa was obtained for the optimal composition.

  • Every concrete structure should continue to perform its intended functions such as to maintain the required strength and durability during its lifetime. Deterioration of the concrete structure, however, occurs more progressively from the outside of the concrete exposed to severe conditions. Main deteriorations in concrete structures result from carbonation, chloride ion attack and frost attack. Concrete can therefore be more durable by applying surface protection to increase its durability using impregnants, which are normally classified into two large groups in polymeric and silicate materials. Concrete impregnants are composed of silanes and alkali silicates (sodium, potassium and lithium silicate). Thus, this study is concerned with elevating the carbonation and Cl- penetration resistance of concrete structures by applying alkali silicate hydrophilic impregnants including lithium and potassium silicates. From the experimental test results, lithium and potassium silicates produced a good improvement in carbonation resistance and are expected to be used as hydrophilic impregnants of concrete structures.

Heating Behavior of Silicon Carbide Fiber Mat under Microwave

  • A small diameter of SiC fiber mat can produce much higher heat under microwave irradiation than the other types of SiC materials. Fabrication of high strength SiC fiber consists of iodine vapor curing on polycarbosilane precursor and heat treatment process. The curing stage of polycarbosilane fiber was maintained at $150-200^{\circ}C$ in a vacuum condition under the iodine vapor to fabricate a high thermal radiation SiC fiber. The structure and morphology of the fibers were characterized by Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy, thermogravimetric analysis (TG) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). In this study, the thermal properties of SiC fiber mats under microwave have been analyzed with an IR thermal camera and its image analyzer. The prepared SiC fiber mats radiated high temperature with extremely high heating rate up to $1100^{\circ}C$ in 30 seconds. The fabricated SiC fiber mats were not oxidized after the heat radiation process under the microwave irradiation.

  • $ZrB_2$-based composites are candidate materials for ultra-high temperature materials (UHTMs). $ZrB_2$ has become an indispensable ingredient in UHTMs, due to its high melting temperature, relatively low density, and excellent resistance to thermal shock or oxidation. $ZrB_2$ powders are usually synthesized by solid state reactions such as carbothermal, borothermal, or combined carbothermal reaction. SiC is added to this system in order to enhance the oxidation resistance of $ZrB_2$. In this study, $ZrB_2$?based composites were successfully synthesized and densified through two different processing paths. $ZrB_2$ or $ZrB_2$ 25 vol.%SiC was fully synthesized from oxide starting materials with reducing agents after heat treatment at 1400$^{\circ}C$. Besides, $ZrB_2$?20 vol.%SiC was fully densified with $B_4C$ as a sintering additive after hot pressing at 1900$^{\circ}C$. The synthesis mechanism and the effect of sintering additives on densification of $ZrB_2$ ?SiC composites were also discussed.

Piezoelectric Properties and phase transition of $KNbO_3$ Ceramics with B-site substitution ((K,Na)$NbO_3$세라믹스에서 B-site의 Sb 치환에 따른 압전 특성 및 상전이 거동)

  • [ $(K_{0.5}Na_{0.5})NbO_3$ ](KNN) 세라믹스의 소결 특성과 압전 특성을 높이기 위해 B-site에 Sb를 치환하여 Sb함량에 따른 특성을 측정 하였다. Sb 의 함량을 0mol $\sim$ 0.1mol 까지 첨가한 결과 소결 밀도는 Sb의 첨가량이 많아질수록 증가하다 Sb-0.08mol에서 4.40g/$cm^3$으로 가장 높은 밀도를 가졌으며, 여기서의 전기기계 결합 계수가(Kp) 0.45로 높은 값을 나타내었다. 상전 이 온도는 375$^{\circ}C$로 순수한 KNN 의 420$^{\circ}C$ 보다 약 45$^{\circ}C$정도 떨어졌으나 orthorhombic에 서 tetragonal 로 바뀌는 전이 온도는 KNN이 220$^{\circ}C$, KNNS 가 225$^{\circ}C$로 크게 변하지 않았다.
