In the reliability analysis of general structures, the limit state equations are implicit and cannot be described in closed form. Thus, sampling methods such as the Crude Monte-Carlo simulation, and probabilistic FEM are often used, but these methods are not so effective in view of computational cost, because a number of structural analysis are required and the derivatives must be calculated for probabilistic FEM. Alternatively the response surface approach, which approximates the limit state surface by using several results of structural analysis in the region adjacent to MPFP, could be applied effectively. In this paper, the central composite design, Bucher-Bourgund method and the approximation method using artificial neural network are studied for the calculation of probability of failure by the response surface method. Through the example comparisons, it is found that Bucher-Bourgund method is very effective and Neural network method for the reliability analysis is comparable with other methods. Specially, the central composite design method is found to be rational and useful in terms of mathematical consistency and accuracy.

Recently, high performance microelectronic devices are designed in multi-layer structure in order to make dense wiring of metal conductors in compact size. Imprint lithography have received significant attention due to an alternative technology for photolithography on such devices. In this work, we synthesized dielectric composite materials based on epoxy resin, and investigated their thermal stabilities and dynamic mechanical properties for thermal imprint lithography. In order to enhance the mechanical properties and toughness of dielectric material, various modified polyetherimide(PEI) was applied in the resin system. Curing behaviours, thermal stabilities, and dynamic mechanical properties of the dielectric materials cured with various conditions were studied using dynamic differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), thermo gravimetric analysis (TGA), and Universal Test Method (INSTRON).

The characteristics of the torque and torque ripple of Interior Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor(IPMSM) are influenced by the size and position of the rotor magnet and the size of the stator slot. This paper deals with the optimal design method for improving torque and torque ripplerate for IPMSM using Response Surface Methodology(RSM). Two objective functions of torque output and torque ripple were derived from the sensitivity analysis by Plackett-Burmann(PB) for the characteristic variables affecting torque and torque ripple. Secondary characteristic variables were selected from the derived objective function and RSM secondary regression model function was estimated by the experiment schedule and analysis results according to the Central Composite Design (CCD). The reliability of the secondary regression model was verified using ANOVA table. The analysis according to the experimental schedule was verified by JMAG(Ver. 18.0) which is Finite Element Method(FEM) software. The torque output of IPMSM applied with final characteristic variables was increased torque output by 11.5 % and the torque ripplerate was reduced by 9.1 %.

The current investigation is the first endeavor to apply the full layerwise finite element method (FEM) in free vibration analysis of functionally graded (FG) composite plates reinforced with graphene nanoplatelets (GPLs) in thermal environment. Unlike the equivalent single-layer (ESL) theories, the layerwise FEM focuses on all three-dimensional (3D) effects. The GPLs weight fraction is presumed invariable in each layer but varies through the plate thickness in a layerwise model. The modified Halpin-Tsai model is employed to acquire the effective Young's modulus. The rule of mixtures is applied to specify the effective Poisson's ratio and mass density. First, the current method is validated by comparing the numerical results with those stated in the available works. Next, a thorough numerical study is performed to examine the influence of various factors involving the pattern of distribution, weight fraction, geometry, and size of GPLs, together with the thickness-to-span ratio, thermal environment, and boundary conditions of the plate, on its free vibration behaviors. Numerical results demonstrate that employing a small percentage of GPL as reinforcement considerably grows the natural frequencies of the pure epoxy. Also, distributing more square-shaped GPLs, involving a smaller amount of graphene layers, and vicinity to the upper and lower surfaces make it the most efficient method to enhance the free vibration behaviors of the plate.

This paper illustrates the use of electric field computation to optimize the design of high voltage composite bushing. In the bushing, a high electric stress occurred between field shaper and central conductor by the closely space. Also coaxial cylindrical shield has a great height along the axis to control an electric field. Consequently, all the potentials are raised axially along the field shaper and electric stress is concentrated on a part of the surface of the FRP tube near the upper end of the field shaper. Maxwell 2D simulator based on the boundary element method was also introduced in order to verify the reliability of the polymer bushing. The optimized design uses internal elements for electric stress grading at critical parts of the bushing.

Lysine (Lys) immobilized on zeolite 4A was prepared by a simple adsorption method. The physical and chemical properties of Lys/zeolite 4A were investigated by X-ray diffraction (XRD), FT-IR, Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and UV-vis. The obtained organic-inorganic composite was effectively employed as a heterogeneous basic catalyst for synthesis of ${\alpha},{\beta}$-unsaturated carbonyl compounds. No by-product formation, high yields, short reaction times, mild reaction conditions, operational simplicity with reusability of the catalyst are the salient features of the present catalyst.
This paper investigates the stability of the functionally graded cylindrical small-scale tube regarding the dynamic analysis and based on the modified nonclassical high-order nonlocal strain gradient theory. The nonlocal beam is modeled according to the high-order tube theory utilizing the energy method based on the Hamilton principle, then the nonlocal governing equations and also nonlocal boundary conditions equations are obtained. The tube structure is made of the new class of composite material composed of ceramic and metal phases as the functionally graded structures. The functionally graded (FG) tube structures rotate around the central axis, and the stability of this nanodevice is due to the centrifugal force which is used for the application of nanoelectromechanical systems (NEMS) is studied in detail.
A new method of construction of second order slope rotatable designs (SOSRD) using symmetrical unequal block arrangements (SUBA) with two unequal block sizes is suggested. The proposed method may sometimes lead to designs with less number of design points than those available in the literature. Further, bounds for the parameters of SOSRD are also obtained.

A high-speed railway (HSR) bridge may undergo long-term deformation due to the degradation of material stiffness, or foundation settlement during its service cycle. In this study, an analytical model is set up to evaluate the influence of this long-term vertical bridge deformation on the track geometry. By analyzing the structural characteristics of the HSR track-bridge system, the energy variational principle is applied to build the energy functionals for major components of the track-bridge system. By further taking into account the interlayer's force balancing requirements, the mapping relationship between the deformation of the track and the one of the bridge is established. In order to consider the different behaviors of the interlayers in compression and tension, an iterative method is introduced to update the mapping relationship. As for the validation of the proposed mapping model, a finite element model is created to compare the numerical results with the analytical results, which show a good agreement. Thereafter, the effects of the interlayer's different properties of tension and compression on the mapping deformations are further evaluated and discussed.
