Fluctuation of the yield of anchovy, Engraulis japonicus and species composition of by-catch were examined to clarify the effect of sea water temperature using samples by bag net off Wando, west southern of Korea from 1999 to 2001. In 1999 and 2001, sea water temperature were higher than 20$^{\circ}C$ from July to October, However that of 2000 was higher than 20$^{\circ}C$ from August to September owing to the strong tidal front formed in south western area of Korea from late spring to summer. Fish captured by bag net off Wando was composed of approximately 73 species which belonging to the juveniles and young stages. Among them, Gymnapogon urospilotus, Lagocephalus sp., Omobranchus elegans, Platycephalus indicus and Konosirus punctatus did not appeared in 2000 when tidal front were developed stronger than in 1999 and 2001. Yield of anchovy landed at fishery of Wando were 1,000 M/T in 1999, 620 M/T in 2000, 1,056 M/T in 2001 respectively and have a tendency to increase from July to August and reach to maximum from August to October.
The seasonal occurrence trends of the brown-winged green bug, Plautia stali, and the brown malmorated stink bug, Halyomorpha halys, were monitored in sweet persimmon orchards in southern region of Korea using light traps (in 2000 and 2001), and aggregation pheromone traps (methyl (E, E, Z)-2 ,4, 6-decatrienoate)) of P. stali (in 2001). Light trap data showed that H. halys started to occur from the end of June, and reached its peak in early or mid August, while P. stali was mostly attracted to the traps from mid July to late August without any distinct attraction peak. Both species did not occur after September in the persimmon orchards studied. The attraction patterns of both species to aggregation pheromone traps were different from those observed in light traps. Both species were attracted to the pheromone traps from mid May to late August. The peak occurrence of H. halys could not be detected due to low catches. However, the period of peak attraction for P. stali was from late June to late August depending on the geographical locations. The aggregation pheromone traps of P. stali attracted more number of P stali than H. hails, but the light traps showed a reverse pattern. In both species, more females were attracted to the aggregation pheromone traps than males. The difference of attraction patterns between 2 types of traps was discussed in relation to content of soluble tannin in persimmon fruits.
This study intended to investigate the shape of the artificial fish reefs settled in the waters of Seogwipo, and the thronging of fish schools into them. The results obtained are summarized as follows : 1. Two types of artifical fish reef, circularized vertical type which is composed of Cryptomeria branches and parachute type, were put off the coast of Seogwipo at $33^{\circ}14'05'$ N Lat., $126^{\circ}34'40'$ E Long. The setting place is located 0.4 sea-mile away from natural fish reefs, at 25 m in depth. And its sediment is consisted of f. S. and Sh. 2. Maximum velocity of wind drift current was 15.28 cm/sec at 15 m depth. The Current direction was $20.5\%$n in the WSW. 3. Maximum fluid resistance of the circularized vertical type to current and wind waves showed about 890 kg, and the weight of sand bags attached to the fish reef totaling 1,200 kg was enough to sustain fish reef. 4. As maximum fluid resistance of the parachute type to current and wind waves was 106.3 kg, the retaining force of sand bags was enough to sustain the fish reef, but vinyl canvas and expansion materials were so poor that the fish reef was lost by the sea current and wind waves. 5. Sixteen species of fish among 53 usually caught in this area were thronged into the artificial fish reef. The fish catches comprized Porgy (Pagrosomus major) $23\%$, black kook fish (Sebastes (Mebarus) intermis) $13\%$, sand borer (Sillago sihama) $11\%$, Sebastes (Pteropodus) hubbsi $7\%$, and file fish (Monacanthus cirrhifer) $6\%$. According to the submarine observations by fivers, it was confirmed that a lot of fish larvae thronged in the middle part of the fish reefs.

This study was performed to monitor the seasonal occurrence of Pseudococcus comstocki (Kuwana) by using pheromone traps and to test a mating disruption technique to control this pest in pear orchards. We compared the attractiveness of rubber septa loaded with 1.5 and 3.0 mg of the pheromone, 2,6-dimethyl-1,5-heptadien-3-yl acetate. A total of 1,021 and 1,431 males were caught in traps baited with 1.5 mg and 3 mg of the pheromone, respectively. The numbers of males caught were not affected by trap color, although yellow traps were more attractive than white traps. In 2012, P. comstocki males were captured between June and October, with peaks in late June, early August, and late September. In 2013, the males were trapped between June and October, with peaks in middle June, late July, and late September. In pheromone mating disruption tests, catches were reduced by 17.7, 65.3, and 62.9% in orchards treated with 450, 900, and 1,350 mg per 10 a of the pheromone, respectively. At harvest, 3.4, 2.9, and 4.8% of fruits in orchards treated with 450, 900, and 1,350 mg per 10 a were damaged by P. comstocki, while 9.5% were damaged in the control orchard.
Seasonal occurrence of the stink bug Piezodorus hybneri (Gmelin) (Heteroptera: Penta-tomidae) was monitored at a soybean field and the campus of Gyeongsang National University, Gyeongnam. Korea, in which host plants are less available for the bug with aggregation pheromone traps of Riptortus clavatus Thunberg (Heteroptera: Alydidae) in 2004. At soybean field, P. hybneri began to be attracted to traps from June 28, earlier than flowering stage of soybean plants. Number of P. hybneri attracted increased sharply after October 11. At the campus the bugs were not attracted to traps from March 21 to October 5, but began to be attracted since October 11. Difference in the occurrences in the two sites may suggest that the stink bug immigrates actively into soybean field to find host plant. P. hybneri that had been attracted to traps since October 11 was assumed to be diapausing adults emigrating to hibernation sites. There was no difference between sexes in trap catches. The fact that P. hybneri was attracted from June to late November may suggest that the aggregation pheromone of R. clavatus was attractive to both non-diapausing and diapausing adults of P. hybneri. The aggregation pheromone traps, when baited with 16.7+16.7+16.7 mg or 7+36+7 mg of (E)-2-hexenyl (Z)-3-hexenoate, (E)-2-hexenyl (E)-2-hexenoate, and myristyl isobutyrate, attracted significantly higher number of both sexes of P. hybneri adults than the live male traps baited with ten R. clavatus males and hexane control.
Seasonal occurrence of the egg parasitoid of bugs, Ooencyrtus nezarae (Hymenoptera: Encyrtidae), was monitored at soybean fields and university campus using traps baited with aggregation pheromone of bean bug, Riptortus clavatus, in Jinju, Gyeongnam province, Korea. The female O. nezarae captured at university campus in 2003 and 2004 was 317.5 and 103.4 times as many as males, respectively, and it was 12.6 times at soybean field in 2004. The female began to occur from late August, showing its peak around September 20 at soybean field in 2004. At university campus in 2003 and 2004, the female began to occur from mid or late August, and showed its peak early or mid September. At the two monitoring sites the catches of female sharply declined after October The E2HZ3H only showed attractiveness to O. nezarae, among three components of the aggregation pheromone of bean bug, (E)-2-hexenyl (Z)-3-hexenoate (E2HZ3H), (E)-2-hexenyl (E)-2-hexenoate (E2HE2H), and myristyl isobutyrate (MI). A mixture in a ratio of 20:20:10 or 16.7:16.7:16.7 of E2HZ3H:E2HE2H:MI attracted significantly more females than the mixture of 7:36:7 ratio did. This higher attractiveness of the former two blends may be attributed to the higher amounts of E2HZ3H in the blends.
Our fisheries protucts industry has developed rapidly during past 10 years ; production was about twice: fihing fleets increased twice in number and 3 times in tonnage ; export was 5 times. Govermment is trying to develop deep sea fisheries in order to surmount the depression of coast fisheries. At present more than 270 deep sea fishing boats are working with superior skill to other country at the South Pacific, the Atlantic, the Indian, and the North Pacific Ocean. Our deep sea fisheries is consisted of the tuna long line and the trawler. The tuna long line of them has 230 crafts in 1969 ana the deep sea trawler has 40 crafts, too. Comparing to 1962, the number of the deep sea fishing boats has been increased highly to 54 times, 7.71 times average per year increasing rate. The rate of the tuna long line to the trawler at the end of 1969 shows 85:15, More than half of them are 100~200 (equation omitted), if we classify them according to (equation omitted) or boat craft. 70% of them has less than 5 years ships age. The Korean Marine Industry Development Corporation has more than 1/3 fishing fleets, with 91 crafts, if We consider it according to corporation. Considering it according to the financial resources, dependence upon foreign loan is as high as 88%. Catches was 74, 450 M/T ($24, 663, 000)at the end of November in 1969 and it was increased to 113.5 times in catch amount and 118 times in value, comparing to those of 1962. Considering it according to the ocean, the order is arranged to the Pacific, the Atlantic, and the Indian Ocean. The average production amount of each craft is 250~400 S/T a year. The result of export took up 1/3 of total fisheries product export with $ 22, 398, 000 at the end of november in 1969. Employee cost of fishing coast is 8% higher than other fishing. The profit is highest in our fisheries. Most of the products except the trawler fishing are sofa at the fishing grounds to the processing company, and they lose much money. They buy most of bait from Japan, giving $8~10 for 1C/S(10kg). Fish price is $390~520 according to the kind of fish for S/T at the fishing grounds, and the rapid frozen fishes brought to Japan are about $ 800 for S/T. There is much difference. in price. Problems 1. Want of self capital. 2. To get the refrigeration boats enough. 3. International Fishing Regulation. 4. To get high price and to secure consuming grounds. 5. To get home-production of bait. 6. To exploit new fishing grounds. 7. To get larger boats. 8. To get mariner enough. When the problems mentioned above are solved, the Deep Sea Fisheries of oun courtry will be developed more largely.
English sijo is the sijo poems written in English. This paper considered English sijo especially in association with its wit. In English-speaking countries, wit has been often emphasized as one of the main characteristics of the sijo genre, and it is often found in many English sijo poems. As a critical term, wit indicates a kind of "concord of discord", which consists of dissimilar images, paradox, irony, etc. This paper investigated how English sijo embodied this kind of critical wit and created three kinds of delight; those are intelligent, sarcastic, and humorous one. First, I examined old Korean sijo poems and the wit embedded in them, and then I compared them to the case of English sijo. Sijo was received in English-speaking countries in the context of the literary genre tradition such as the epigram and the sonnet, and of the literary concepts such as irony and wit. In this context, sijo, which has a three-divided semantic structure and a twist in the last part, often containing irony and wit, could be received and composed without much difficulty in Englih-speaking countries. Many English sijo poems contain wit, and they make abundant delight, which is intelligent, sarcastic, or humorous. Wit is found in Korean old sijo too, but the wit that catches humorous moments variously in everyday lives, rather than show acid sarcasm or exaggerated comic scene, is a remarkable characteristic of the English sijo. English sijo presents the possibility of the sijo genre as the poetry of everyday life, which presents various aspects of daily lives in a warm and delightful perspective.

To understand the fishery characteristics by a beam trawl off the coast of the Chungnam province, covering $125^{\circ}$ 50'~$126^{\circ}$ 05'E, $36^{\circ}$ 15'~$36^{\circ}$ 25'N, a beam trawl was deployed 2~4 times a month from March 2008 to February 2009. The catch was consisted of 96 species of 63 families belonging to 19 orders. Among these, organisms were identified as 54 species of fish, 27 species of crustaceans, 9 species of gastropoda, bivalves, and 6 species of cephalopods. Trachysalambria curvirostris which is the target species of the beam trawl fishery occupied only 2.1% of the total catch, showing a low ratio of catches. Most of T. curvirostris was harvested from July to November while small amount of T. curvirostris was captured from May to December. In this study, we concluded that the bycatch ratio except T. curvirostris in T. curvirostris fishery was relatively high, thus the fishery of T. curvirostris might affect the fishery resource management of bycaught species off the coast of Chungnam province.

UN adopted the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in 2015, a set of 17 objectives with 169 targets expected to guide actions over the next 15 years (2016-2030). One goal expressly focuses on the oceans, that is, SDG 14 'Conserve and sustainably use the oceans, seas and marine resources for sustainable development'. More than 30% of fish stocks worldwide were classified by FAO(2016) as overfished. Globally, world capture fisheries are near the ocean's productive capacity with catches on the order of 80 million metric tons. Aquaculture production is increasing rapidly and is expected to continue to increase, but aquaculture encounters some environmental challenges, including potential pollution, competition with wild fishery resources, potential contamination of gene pools, disease problems, and loss of habitat. Accordingly, there have been a variety of world organization and conferences stressing the importance of the implementation of the ecosystem-based fisheries management(EBFM) to overcome these problems. Annual catch of Korean fisheries have shown continuously declining patterns since late 1990s. Most fish stocks are currently known to be over-exploited, and some stocks are depleted due to the increase in fishing intensity and over-capitalization of fishing fleets. Other reasons for the depletion are land reclamations and coastal pollution, which destroy spawning and nursery grounds along the coastal regions. Aquaculture production is also increasing rapidly in Korea. However, several important issues such as gene pool and interaction with capture fisheries should be considered. The EBFM approach should use the best available information coupled with a reasonable application of the precautionary approach. The EBFM has global relevance, and so the real challenge will be to develop and use reliable, robust and cost-effective means of assessing and monitoring the status of ecosystems and their resources, and rapid means of detecting any undesirable and excessive impacts that threaten sustainable use. Future fisheries education should take into account UN's SDGs, which were adopted to achieve the global 2030 agenda. However, there are some difficulties in the current fisheries education system in Korea. First, the current education organizations are limited within the old frame of traditional fisheries sciences. Second, the fisheries education is currently lack of the future-oriented education system and of customized schools or departments. Third, the on-going fisheries education has been based upon few educational policies which are sufficiently relevant to holistic SDGs of the global standard. Accordingly, directions to modern fisheries education for achieving SDGs would be, first, the transition of fisheries education structure into the future-oriented and customized education system. Second, fisheries education needs to shift to the new paradigm, which combines traditional fisheries science education with related fields such as oceanography and environmental sciences to adopt the concept of EBFM. Lastly, fisheries education should accompany relevant policies for effectively achieving SDGs.
